Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 11.2.16: Smackdown Live Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your Smackdown Live Recap Edition.  

This week's Smackdown Live took place in Newark, New Jersey. James Ellsworth apologizes to Dean Ambrose after costing him a title shot last week. After turning on Kane last week, Randy Orton battled Kane in a No DQ Match. WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella battled Alexa Bliss and Carmella. The Spirit Squad battled American Alpha with a spot in the Survivor Series Tag Team Elimination Match on the line. Miz TV returns this week with The Miz and his special guest Daniel Bryan. WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler has an open challenge match. The Usos battled The Headbangers with a spot in the Survivor Series Tag Team Elimination Match on the line. In the main event, Dean Ambrose battled AJ Styles for a shot at being the #1 Contender.

** Smackdown Live **

- James Ellsworth Promo: Ellsworth says he hasn't been able to eat or sleep and needs to apologize to Dean Ambrose. Ambrose comes out and meets with Ellsworth face to face. Ambrose says Ellsworth doesn't owe him an apology. Ellsworth says he has Ambrose to thank for everything he's done for him and he cost him a world title shot and he's truly sorry. Ambrose says it's water under the bridge, but Ellsworth needs to promise to never get involved in Ambrose's business again. AJ Styles interrupts and says Ellsworth owes Styles checks for Ellsworth's merchandise sales and making Ellsworth's career. Ambrose and Styles trade verbal shots until Styles shoves Ellsworth into Ambrose. Styles tosses Ellsworth outside and then hits a Phenomenal Forearm on Ambrose.

- Backstage, Daniel Bryan offers Dean Ambrose another #1 contenders match against AJ Styles tonight and tells James Ellsworth to stay away from the ring.

- "No DQ Match": Kane vs. Randy Orton: The match closes out with Kane hitting a sidewalk slam and then goes for a choke slam. The lights go out in the arena and then come back on with The Wyatt Family present. Kane counters an RKO, but gets pulled outside and attacked by Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper. Kane fights them off and grabs Orton by the throat. Bray and Harper attack again, which leads to an Orton RKO and the pinfall. After the match, Harper hits a lariat on Kane. Harper pulls Kane up and Orton shoves Kane at Bray Wyatt, who hits the Sister Abigail on Kane. Bray, Harper and Orton pose over a laid out Kane.
Winner: Randy Orton, by pinfall.

- Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella vs. Carmella and Alexa Bliss: The match closes out with Becky unloading on Carmella. Alexa Bliss tags in and Carmella runs distraction from the apron. Becky goes after Carmella, allowing Alexa to capitalize, hit Becky with a DDT and score the pinfall. After the match, Alexa and Carmella mock the RAW Women's Division. Alexa then mocks Becky Lynch and says she's taking her title next week. 
Winners: Alexa Bliss and Carmella, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan inform Naomi that she's being added to Team Smackdown Live in the Women's Elimination Match at Survivor Series. Nattie Neidhart appears and wants a spot on the team. Shane makes Nattie the team coach.

- "Survivor Series Qualifying Match": The Spirit Squad vs. American Alpha: The match closes out with Kenny missing a leg drop, Jordan tags in and unloads on Kenny. Jordan suplexes Kenny, but then gets double teamed. Gable tags in and American Alpha take control, hit Grand Amplitude on Mikey and score the pinfall.
Winners: American Alpha, by pinfall, to qualify for Team Smackdown Live.

- Miz TV with Special Guest Daniel Bryan: Bryan announces that there will be two more Survivor Series Tag Team Qualification Matches for Team Smackdown Live. Bryan then announces that the Men's Smackdown Live Team will be Randy Orton, Baron Corbin, Bray Wyatt, Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles. Miz gets pissed because he isn't one of the five picked. Bryan says that Miz was never even considered. Miz doesn't appreciate Bryan's disrespect. Bryan then says Miz was considered, but they need superstars to fight, not superstars that are afraid. Miz and Bryan trade more verbal shots until Miz finally storms off mad.

- "WWE Intercontinental Championship Match": Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. ????: The Miz is forced to sit it on commentary for this match. Curt Hawkins answers Ziggler's open challenge and cuts a promo. As soon as the match starts Ziggler hits the super kick and scores the pinfall on Hawkins. After the match, Ziggler challenges any RAW superstar to face him and he'll even put his title on the line.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler, by pinfall, to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

- Backstage, James Ellsworth again begs Dean Ambrose to let him be in his corner tonight. Ambrose says no.

- Backstage, The Wyatt Family are still skeptical about Randy Orton joining them. Orton says he was born with the devil whispering in his ear and he's done fighting it. Orton calls Bray Wyatt a God.

- "Survivor Series Qualifying Match": The Usos vs. The Headbangers: The match closes out with Mosh getting a near fall. Thrasher comes in and tosses Jey to the floor. Mosh and the referee get tied up, allowing Jey to land a cheap shot on Thrasher. Jimmy rolls Thrasher up from behind and scores the pinfall.
Winners: The Usos, by pinfall, to qualify for Team Smackdown Live.

- Backstage, AJ Styles says he's beating Dean Ambrose tonight and Ambrose can't use James Ellsworth's interference as an excuse when he loses.

- Backstage, Dean Ambrose escorts James Ellsworth out of the building and tells him that he can't be in his corner tonight.

- "#1 Contender's Match For Dean Ambrose": Dean Ambrose vs. AJ Styles: The match closes out with Ambrose countering the Styles Clash and both men go down with double clotheslines. James Ellsworth shows up at ringside and cheers on Ambrose. Ambrose tells Ellsworth to leave and then eats a Styles Pele Kick for a near fall. Security arrives and chases Ellsworth through the crowd. Styles blocks Dirty Deeds and traps Ambrose in the Calf Crusher submission. Ambrose reaches the bottom rope as Ellsworth and Security run around ringside now. Styles shoves Ellsworth over the announcers table and goes for a springboard on Ambrose. Ambrose counters, hits Dirty Deeds and scores the pinfall. After the match, Security drags Ellsworth away. Ambrose walks past Ellsworth, helps him stand and shrugs.
Winner: Dean Ambrose, by pinfall, to become the #1 Contender.
