Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 12.30.14: #RAW Results

By @B_Rock1978

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE. It's the RAW recap from last night's show. It's the last RAW of 2014 as the year draws to a close this Wednesday. RAW took place live in our nation's capital, Washington D.C. Edge and Christian were the sheriff's in town as they served as the acting General Managers. How will WWE close out 2014? Read on and find out for yourselves!!
- Tonight's RAW General Managers, Edge and Christian, arrive: We're getting a first time ever "Cutting Edge Peep Show" tonight with Seth Rollins as the guest. E&C run down tonight's card, Daniel Bryan has a big announcement about his career tonight and we get a "5 Second Pose" from E&C. HERE COMES THE PAIN!!!! Brock Lesnar arrives with Paul Heyman. Heyman says it won't take much for Lesnar to cripple E&C. John Cena's music hits and out comes the 15-Time Champion. Cena is going to wait till Royal Rumble to take out Lesnar and Cena's New Year's resolution will be to defeat Lesnar and become 16-Time World Heavyweight Champion. Cena grabs Heyman and Lesnar charges Cena. Cena scoops Lesnar up on his shoulders for an "AA". Lesnar counters and escapes to the floor with Heyman. Cena and Lesnar stare each other down as Lesnar and Heyman head to the back.
- Champion vs. Champion as WWE Intercontinental Champion, Dolph Ziggler faced WWE United States Champion, Rusev: Ziggler counters a Rusev kick and hits the "Famasser". Ziggler lands the super kick but Rusev blocks the "Zig Zag". Rusev tosses Ziggler into the corner and stomps continuously on Ziggler, forcing the referee to DQ Rusev. After the match, Rusev applies "The Accolade" on Ziggler and refuses to release the hold. Ryback makes his way to the ring for the save. Ryback lays Rusev out with the "Meat Hook", forcing Rusev and Lana to retreat up the ramp.
- In Ring Segment with Ryback: Ryback talks about growing up a wrestling fan, being on Tough Enough, missing his dream of wrestling, being depressed, Nexus, breaking his leg and how lucky he was to make a come back. Ryback throws out a challenge to Rusev.
- Divas action as Nattie Neidhart faced Nikki Bella: Nikki gets knocked off the apron and Nattie's husband, Tyson Kidd, catches her, pissing Nattie off. Nattie goes after Nikki and Brie Bella gets in Kidd's face. Nikki hits "Rack Attack" on Nattie and scores the pinfall. Kidd checks on his wife, Nattie, after the match.
- Backstage Segment with The Miz and Damien Sandow: Naomi hugs The Miz and thanks him because a producer wants to meet with Naomi. She appreciates everything The Miz has done, while putting up with Jimmy Uso's jealousy.
- The Miz and Damien Sandow defended the WWE World Tag Team Championship against The Usos: Naomi is watching the match backstage. Miz teases tagging Sandow and Sandow acts out all of Miz's actions. Jimmy hits the samoan drop on Miz than tosses Sandow to the floor. Miz applies the figure four on Jimmy but Jimmy refuses to give up. Jimmy hits a super kick on Sandow after Miz used him as a shield. Jimmy blocks the "Skull Crushing Finale" and tags Jey. Miz counters Jey's "Superfly Splash" by lifting up his knees. Miz hits the "Skull Crushing Finale" on Jey but Jey kicks out. Miz goes for another "Skull Crushing Finale" on Jey but Jimmy tags in and plants a super kick on Miz. Jimmy hits the "Superfly Splash" on Miz, covers, scores the pinfall and The Usos are the NEW World Tag Team Champions. After the match, Naomi comes out and celebrates with her husband and brother-in-law.
- In Ring Segment with Cesaro: Cesaro says 2014 should of been his year, mentions winning the Andre The Giant battle royal at Wrestlemania 30, doesn't care about the fans, or fancy ring entrances, all he cares about is wrestling and no one can hold a candle to Cesaro. I'M AFRAID I'VE GOT SOME BAD NEEEWWWWSSS!! Bad News Barrett is back and we have an impromptu match!
- Bad News Barrett vs. Cesaro: Huge fan following for Bad News Barrett. Barrett goes for the pump handle slam but Cesaro counters and "Cesaro Swings" Barrett. Cesaro locks in a single leg crab submission but Barrett escapes. Barrett connects with the "Bullhammer" elbow on Cesaro and picks up the pinfall in his return match.
- Backstage Segment with Luke Harper: Harper says he's a nightmare come to life and wishes us all sweet dreams.
- The nightmare come to life, Luke Harper battled Jack Swagger: Swagger counters Harper's clothesline with one of his own. Swagger goes for the "Patriot Lock" but Harper counters and lands a super kick. Swagger again goes for the "Patriot Lock" and gets it locked in this time, but Harper makes it to the ropes to break the hold. Harper blocks the "Swagger Bomb" by getting his legs up. Harper charges and takes Swagger's head off with the clothesline. Harper covers and scores the pinfall.
- Backstage Segment with John Cena, Edge and Christian: Cena and Edge talk about their past feuds, Cena says Edge was one of the decent guys in the company, Cena hugs Edge and tells him to be careful tonight.
- Next up, former Shield members do battle as Seth Rollins faces Roman Reigns: Big Show is on commentary for this match. Mercury and Noble are in Rollins' corner, causing distraction, as usual. Impressive back and forth action throughout the match. Reigns blocks a "Curb Stomp" attempt. Reigns hits the "Superman Punch" on Rollins. Reigns sets Rollins up for the spear but Big Show gets involved, DQ'ing Rollins. After the match, Show attacks Reigns, lands some punches and tosses Reigns over the announcers table. Show flips the table over and pins Reigns' leg under the table, injuring Reigns' leg. WWE Medical hit the ring and check on Reigns as Show heads to the back.
- Backstage Segment with Seth Rollins and Big Show: Rollins thanks Show for what he did and Rollins  is looking forward to the Cutting Edge Peep Show later.
- Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt in an "Ambulance Match" is announced for next week's RAW 2015 kickoff show.
- Daniel Bryan's Announcement: Daniel Bryan makes his way to the ring and takes a mic. Bryan says it's an honor to be in the ring, thanks the fans, cause he feels we got him to Wrestlemania 30 and we're the reason he was the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Bryan says he can never repay us, then talks about his marriage to Brie Bella, his father passing away, his injury and missing performing for us. Bryan talks about the doctors having no answers, talking to Edge at one time and deciding when enough is enough. Bryan builds up the retirement speech as the fans start a "No" chant. Bryan hooks us all in as he says his big announcement is that his career is far from over and he will be entering into the 2015 Royal Rumble. The fans start the "Yes Movement" chant as Bryan celebrates with the fans.
- Backstage Segment with Edge, Christian, The Miz and Damien Sandow: Miz demands a rematch with The Usos for the tag team titles. Edge gives them a match but it's not a rematch for the titles and it's tonight.
- Edge and Christian are announced as the Smackdown General Managers this Friday and they will have another Cutting Edge Peep Show with Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt.
- The Ascension make their RAW debut against The Miz and Damien Sandow: The Ascension dominate with Miz and Sandow getting a little bit of offense in. Konnor and Viktor hit the "Fall of Man" on Sandow and score the pinfall for the debut win.
- Cutting Edge Peep Show: Seth Rollins, Mercury and Noble are out as guests. Rollins talks about Edge and Christian being his idols growing up. E&C don't believe Rollins as they make fun of Rollins and The Stooges. Rollins wants to celebrate the new 2015 Seth Rollins and calls out Big Show to join him in his celebration. Rollins calls out John Cena next to celebrate but Cena no-shows. Rollins says he's better than Edge. Edge says even if Rollins had a live sex celebration with Big Show he'd still never be as good as Edge. Rollins yells for John Cena to come out, but Cena still no-shows. Rollins says he'll force Cena to come out then. Rollins hits Christian with the briefcase as Show grabs Edge by the throat. Edge gets his face forced down on the briefcase and Rollins threatens to re-break Edge's neck with a "Curb Stomp" unless Cena comes out. John Cena finally runs out but Rollins keeps Edge held hostage and orders Cena to stop. Rollins orders Cena to either reinstate The Authority or else he'll "Curb Stomp" Edge and make him paralyzed.
Rollins reminds Cena that Edge has a wife and a baby and being paralyzed would be bad for their family. Rollins continues to taunt Cena and threaten to paralyze Edge until Cena finally caves in and says "Yes" The Authority can come back. Rollins goes to "Curb Stomp" Edge anyway, however, Cena tackles Rollins for the block, just in time. Cena fights off Rollins and The Stooges but gets hit with the knockout punch by Show. Rollins lands a "Curb Stomp" on Cena, laying Cena out. RAW closes out with Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, Seth Rollins, Big Show, Mercury, Noble and finally the returning Triple H and Stephanie McMahon all on stage champagne toasting 2014 out and the rebirth of The Authority being back for 2015.

I want to say that tonight's RAW was pretty good. Ziggler and Rusev were used properly, both looking like legit champions. The debut of The Ascension was good, however, not sure the fans were into them like the NXT fans are. The Usos, 2-time tag team champions now. Brock Lesnar could've earned his paycheck a little bit more tonight, in my opinion. Countering a "AA" than staring down Cena was pretty weak. Daniel Bryan will be champion again in 2015, no doubt. And Seth Rollins pulled off some A+ sadistic heel moves tonight. BRAVO
And that's a wrap on this week's RAW results, till next time tap or snap.

Leadoff with Lee 12.30.14 #Harbaugh #Michigan #Manziel #BlackMonday

By @cleeverizon

- Former 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh will become the head coach of his alma mater, the University of Michigan. He'll be signing a reported 6-year, $8 million dollar annual contract and becoming the highest paid coach in college football history. Michigan will also pay the consulting firm of Korn Ferry $80,000 for helping conduct the "search" for the new coach. This is the same firm that was used when they hired Brady Hoke, and we all know how that ended. The official press conference is scheduled at Noon today and I also expect Harbaugh to address the Michigan fans prior to the men's basketball game, ala Urban Meyer. The average Big Ten head coach salary in the 94-95 season was $132,800. Harbaugh made $50,000 in 2002 as quarterbacks coach for the Oakland Raiders.

- Johnny Manziel had a "social gathering" at his apartment Friday night. Saturday morning he was set to seek treatment for his hamstring injury and was not able to be reached via phone. Browns security staff went to Manziel's apartment to search for him after he didn't return calls or show up to the team facility. Ultimately, Manziel was fined a undisclosed amount of money for his tardiness. In a season ending interview yesterday, "Money Manziel" apologized to Jimmy Haslam and his teammates. It was initially reported Justin Gilbert and Josh Gordon attended Manziel's "social gathering". Manziel shutdown rumors yesterday and told reporters neither of the players were in attendance. Justin Gilbert was inactive Sunday because he was late for a team meeting. The Browns suspended Gordon after he failed to show up for Saturday's walk-through. He'll finish with just five games active this season, which could prevent him from being eligible for unrestricted free agency in 2016. The Browns nearly traded Gordon prior to the 2013 deadline and could shop him again this offseason. This means the Browns now have control of Gordon as he will then be a restricted free agent in the 2016 season and can match any offer made to him by any other team.

- Yesterday was #BlackMonday aka the time when most teams inform their head coaches they have been fired. The following #NFL head coaches and general managers were fired: Chicago Bears fired head coach Marc Trestman, offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer and general manager Phil Emery. They hired consultant Ernie Accorsi to help them in the search of a new coach and general manager. The New York Jets fired Rex Ryan and general manager John Idzik. Ryan is rumored to be the leading candidate for the Atlanta Falcons head coaching job, which became vacant after firing head coach Mike Smith. The Falcons hired, you guessed it, Korn Ferry to identify potential candidates for the position.

- Per Eric Garafalo, 49ers assistant Eric Mangini is slated to interview with the Raiders for their head-coaching job, source says.

Weekend 3 Count 12/22 - 12/28 #WWE #TNA #GFW

By @B_Rock1978

The Weekend 3 Count is brought to you by Triple Threat CLE.

*** Weekend Flashback ***

- From now till the Royal Rumble, I'll be flashbacking to some of my favorite moments in the Royal Rumble. This week's Royal Rumble flashback we're going back to highlights from the 1992 Royal Rumble where the winner became the NEW WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

*** WWE News and Rumors ***

- It appears WWE may be giving up on re-signing Brock Lesnar. Lesnar has still shown major interest in returning back to UFC once his current WWE contract expires the day after Wrestlemania 31.

- Randy Orton and Bad News Barrett returned this weekend at a WWE live house show. It's unknown still when both will return to live TV.

- WWE announced that the 2015 Extreme Rules Pay Per View will return to Chicago, Illinois. This will be the second time in six years Extreme Rules took place in Chicago.

- I've noted recently that Adrian Neville is set to be brought up to the main roster soon. Vince McMahon however thinks it's a great idea to give Neville a new gimmick. Neville's rumoured new gimmick will be a "Mighty Mouse" type of a character. Yes Mighty Mouse....the cartoon character.....Does Vince take drugs? Because some of the ideas he comes up with are some of the dumbest ideas I've ever heard of. Neville made a name for himself in NXT by being himself, he doesn't need a stupid cartoon character gimmick. Does Hurricane Helms ring a bell??

- Former NXT World Tag Team Champions, Konnor and Viktor, aka The Ascension, will make their RAW debut tomorrow night.

- Braun Stowman made his NXT debut at this past week's live events. Stowman was said to have a very good debut, moves well in the ring for being a big guy, was great on the mic and is being nicknamed "Monster Among Men".

- Bo Dallas is expected to be ready to return from his foot injury by years end. It is unknown if he will return to TV right away or if WWE will save him as a Royal Rumble entrant.

- Darren Young returned to live action this week after being out since Wrestlemania 30 with knee surgery. It is unknown when he'll return to TV. Another possible surprise Royal Rumble entrant.

- If you're wondering where Heath Slater has been the past few weeks, fear no more. It appears that WWE has given Heath Slater some time off while he deals with his legal issues. Slater is being accused of an alleged assault on a female hotel employee during Wrestlemania 27 weekend.

- Early this summer, WWE threw out the idea of making this year's Royal Rumble a 40 Man Rumble. There has been no more mention or build up of that being true, so it appears we'll be seeing a normal 30 Man Rumble.

- Current WWE Legend, Kevin Nash, was arrested on Christmas Eve for attacking his 18 year old son, Tristen. The story states that Tristen Nash attacked his mother and Kevin Nash stepped in to help her. Tristen was also arrested at the scene and both were held with no bond. WWE has since suspended Kevin Nash from his Legends contract. Nash was also supposed to appear on the January 19th edition of RAW with Scott Hall and Hulk Hogan for an nWo reunion. WWE has pulled him from that show too.

- Blu-Ray/DVD News 1: WWE will be releasing a new Ultimate Warrior Blu-Ray/DVD in the Spring of 2015. It will feature a new documentary and Warrior matches from the past.

- Blu-Ray/DVD News 2: WWE will be releasing a new Blu-Ray/DVD on February 17th called "Destruction of The Shield". The disc's will include past matches of Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. The match list can be viewed here.

*** TNA News and Rumors ***

- TNA is rumored to be angry with SpikeTV for the way they showed their last two "best of" episodes of TNA. SpikeTV showed both episodes later in the evening and not in their regular 9pm time. SpikeTV also not once advertised TNA jumping to Destination America in January.

- Destination America has added another TNA program to their lineup. Every weekend starting Saturday January 10th, "TNA's Greatest Matches" will be shown. The show will air TNA matches from TNA's twelve year history.

- Current TNA World Tag Team Champion, Abyss, is taking independent wrestling dates until the TNA relaunch in January.

- Gail Kim has still not signed a new TNA contract but has agreed to do a pay by appearance deal. There is a very good possibility we will see her for TNA's debut on Destination America.

- The TNA Knockouts Championship has received a make over for the reboot in January. The title, currently held by Taryn Terrell, used to be a white strap with red lettering. TNA has now changed it to a black strap with blue lettering.

*** GFW News and Rumors ***

The final card for the Global Force Wrestling pay per view, which is being partnered with New Japan Pro Wrestling has been announced:

- "IWGP Jr. Tag Team Championship, Fatal Four Way Match": Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish (c) vs. Alex Shelley and Kushida vs. Rocky Romero and Alex Koslov vs. The Young Bucks

- "Six Man Tag Team Match": Hiroyoshi Tenzan, Satoshi Kojima and Tomoaki Honma vs. The Bullet Club (Jeff Jarrett, Bad Luek Fale and Yujiro Takahashi)

- "Eight Man Tag Team Match": Toru Yano, Naomichi Marufuji, Shane Haste and Mikey Nicholls vs. Takashi Iizuka, Shelton Benjamin, Davey Boy Smith Jr. and Lance Archer

- "UWFI Rules Match": Kazushi Sakuraba vs. Minoru Suzuki: (No rules. Only way to win is by knockout, referee stoppage or submission)

- "NEVER Openweight Championship Match": Tomohiro Ishii (c) vs. Togi Makabe

- "IWGP Jr. Championship Match": Ryusuke Taguchi (c) vs. Kenny Omega

- "IWGP World Tag Team Championship Match": The Bullet Club (Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows) (c) vs. Katsuyori Shibata and Hirooki Goto

- A.J. Styles vs. Tetsuya Naito

- "IWGP Intercontinental Championship": Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Kota Ibushi

- "IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match": Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) vs. Kazuchika Okada

*** Other Wrestling News ***

- Former WWE superstar, Shane "Hurricane" Helms, recently had successful surgery, repairing his ACL.

- WWE Hall of Famer, Tully Blanchard, suffered a torn bicep early this week. Blanchard was doing interference in his daughter, Tessa Blanchard's, match and suffered the injury performing a drop kick.

- Alberto El Patron...aka...Alberto Del Rio is in the news again. Alberto recently signed on with Ring of Honor wrestling and Lucha Underground and now is looking at Bellator MMA. Alberto does have MMA experience and actually posts a 9-5-0 record in MMA fights. Bellator MMA and Alberto are currently in the talking stage and nothing final has been announced as of yet.

- Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion turned UFC Fighter, CM Punk, has announced his trainer. Punk will train with Roufusport for his UFC career and will be trained by Ben Askren. (Although this is UFC news and not wrestling news I will still be following CM Punk and give you updates on his jump to UFC.)

And that's this weekend's 3 Count. Join me every Sunday afternoon as I post news around WWE, TNA, GFW and around the wrestling world. Till next week, tap or snap.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 12.27.14: SmackDown Results

By @B_Rock1978

Happy Holidays everyone and welcome to another exciting edition of Wrestling Lockup with Brandon brought to you by Triple Threat CLE. Today's edition is your Smackdown recap from last night's show. Smackdown took place in Sioux City, Iowa. As we continue down the road to the Royal Rumble.

- Hulk Hogan opened up the show, announcing himself as the Smackdown GM of the week. Seth Rollins comes out and praises Hogan as being the reason he got into wrestling, then tells Hogan he doesn't deserve to be in the same ring as Seth Rollins. Dolph Ziggler comes out to defend Hogan against Rollins. Big Show is out next and threatens to knock out both Hogan and Ziggler. Next out is Roman Reigns, as he backs up Hogan and Ziggler, by threatening to punch Show in the mouth. Hogan announces Ziggler and Reigns vs Show and Rollins later in the main event.

- Ryback battled Kane in a one on one rematch from TLC. Rusev and Lana appeared at ringside in this one and distracted Ryback. The "Big Guy" knocked Rusev off the apron and dropped Kane with the "Meat Hook" and the "Shell Shock" to pick up the pinfall. Ryback took a beating after the match, as Kane and Rusev double teamed the big guy. Kane choke slams Ryback and Rusev locked Ryback in "The Accolade".

- Smackdown GM, Hulk Hogan, confronts Rusev and Lana backstage. Hogan orders Rusev to defend his WWE United States Championship later tonight as punishment for attacking Ryback.

- Divas action saw Naomi battle Alicia Fox. Naomi's biggest fan, The Miz, watched Naomi's match from backstage. Fox gets a couple near falls on Naomi throughout the match. Naomi finished off Alicia Fox with her split legged moonsault for the pinfall.

- Adam Rose got a rematch with R-Truth, after his humiliating loss to Truth this past RAW. Rose took Truth out with the "Party Foul" and scored the pinfall. And we were left with the question...Where was The Bunny? After Rose physically kicked the bunny crap out of The Bunny on RAW, The Bunny was nowhere to be found.

- The WWE United States Championship was on the line as Rusev defended against Dean Ambrose. Ambrose gets out of an "Accolade" attempt by Rusev. Ambrose scores a near fall with the top rope elbow drop on Rusev. The fight goes to the floor, where Bray Wyatt showed up and attacked Ambrose, causing a DQ. Rusev retains the U.S. Title due to the interference. After the match, Ambrose and Bray brawl into the timekeepers pit. Ambrose nails Bray with a steel chair then tosses chair after chair into the ring as Bray retreats.

- Jimmy Uso battled his wife's stalker, The Miz, in one on one action. Miz spent a lot of time running away and pleading with Jimmy. Miz tries to shake hands with Jimmy at one point in the match, trying to get Jimmy to forget about what Miz has done. Miz eats a super kick and gets a "Superfly Splash" as Jimmy scores the pinfall.

- Main event time and it's Roman Reigns and Dolph Ziggler vs. Big Show and Seth Rollins. Rollins and Reigns returned to their after Shield feud. Mercury and Noble were present at ringside, threatening interference throughout the match. Rollins near falled Reigns with a super kick. Ziggler hot tagged in and cleaned house at one point until getting beat down. Reigns ends up spearing Big Show, sending him to the floor. Ziggler takes out Mercury and Noble as they attacked Reigns on the floor. Back in the ring, Reigns spears Rollins in half and scores the pinfall.

And that's this week's Smackdown. Have a great weekend, till next time, tap or snap.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 12.23.14: #WWE #RAW Results

By @B_Rock1978

Ho Ho Ho Brother!!!

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE. It's the RAW results from last night's show. RAW took place live in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was a special Christmas edition of RAW. Hulkamania ran wild as "The Immortal" Hulk Hogan served as the acting GM. Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt battled in a "Miracle On 34th Street Fight". Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper hosted Piper's Pit with Rusev as his guest. More build up to the Royal Rumble. By @nevaRWilliams

- What a difference a benching could make? After being benched in the 2nd half Friday against Brooklyn, Dion Waiters came out firing on all cylinders, dropping in 21 points as the Cavaliers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies, 105-91. Waiters scored 13 or his 21 in the 4th quarter. LeBron James led all scorers with 25 points and adding 11 assists. Kyrie Irving had a season high 12 assists to go with his 17 points. Anderson Verajao had one of his best game of the year with 18 points. Marc Gasol led the Grizzlies with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Zach Randolph did not play due to a sore, swollen right knee that was suffered Friday against Chicago. The Cavs are back at it Tuesday night, at home, against the Minnesota Timberwolves before going down to Miami on Christmas, which will be LeBron's first trip back to Miami since returning to Cleveland.

- For all the good that happened with the Cavaliers, it was nearly the complete opposite was the case for the Cleveland Browns as they lost to the Carolina Panthers 17-13 on Sunday afternoon. While it appeared that Johnny Manziel might have had a better handle on being the starting QB, it was all for nothing as Manziel was removed from the game following a hamstring injury. Brian Hoyer replaced the rookie, going 7 or 13 for 134 yards, 1 INT and 1 long touchdown to Jordan Cameron for 81 yards. The run game for the Browns continued to struggle, with Isaiah Crowell gaining 55 yards on 16 rushes. As far as the Browns run defense and overall defense, well they were about spent from the get go. The long season filled with injuries allowed for Cam Newton to go 18/31 for 201 yards passing with 1 TD along with 63 rushing yards and 1 TD. Jonathan Stewart had 24 carries for 122 yards, himself. Thankfully, this long wretched heartbreak of a season ends next week as the Browns attempt to hurt the Baltimore Ravens' playoff chances in Baltimore.

- A former Florida Supreme Court judge ruled that evidence against Florida State QB Jameis Winston was insufficient to satisfy the burden of proof, clearing Winston of an alleged sexual assault from two years ago.

- The San Diego Padres acquired outfielder Justin Upton from the Atlanta Braves for four minor leaguers. The Padres also recently acquired outfielders Matt Kemp from the L.A. Dodgers and Wil Myers from the Tampa Bay Rays. Last season, Padres outfielders hit 29 home runs and 141 RBI, while the combination of Kemp, Myers and Upton had a combined 60 home runs and 226 RBI.

- The Yankees traded second baseman Martin Prado to the Miami Marlins for starter Nathan Eovaldi. New York also sent pitcher David Phelps in the deal for Eovaldi which included first baseman Garrett Jones and another minor league prospect. Eovaldi should fit in very nicely in the Yankees rotation with Masahiro Tanaka, CC Sabathia, Michael Pineda, Chris Capuano and Ivan Nova. Last season, Eovaldi threw near 200 innings with a 4.37 ERA for the Marlins.

- Jake Peavy signed a two-year, $24 million deal with the San Francisco Giants. Peavy was 6-4 for the Giants in 2014 after his trade from the Boston Red Sox.

- Major League Baseball and its umpires agreed to a new five year labor contract. The previous deal was set to expire on December 31.

- At the box office this past weekend, "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" led the way with $56.2 million in its opening weekend. While it's the lowest amount of the three Hobbit movies, its still quite solid. Number 2 was "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb" with $17.3 million. Rounding out the top five was "Annie" ($16.3 million), "Exodus: Gods and Kings" ($8 million) and "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" ($7.7 million). Christmas Day will be interesting as Disney's "Into the Woods", Angelina Jolie's directorial debut film "Unbroken" open Nationwide, while "Big Eyes", "American Sniper" and "Selma" open in limited release before their Nationwide releases.

- Lastly, myself and everyone who works on triplethreatCLE.com would like to wish you a VERY Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday.
