Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 11.16.16: Smackdown Live 900th Episode

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you the Smackdown Live Recap for the week.

This week Smackdown Live was live in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. We are now only 5 days away from this Sunday's WWE Survivor Series event, as Smackdown Live delivers it's go home show. Tonight's Smackdown Live also marks the 900th episode in Smackdown history, as Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan have promised a few surprises for the show. First up, The Deadman himself, The Undertaker, makes a special appearance. Former multi time World Champion Edge returns for another edition of The Cutting Edge. WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler is set to defend his title at WWE Survivor Series against Sami Zayn, but first he must defend the title and defeat The Miz tonight, as Miz receives his rightfully deserved rematch for the title. Kalisto battled Oney Lorcan. Nikki Bella battled Carmella. American Alpha, The Usos, Breezango and The Hype Bros. battled The Spirit Squad, The Headbangers, The Vaudevillians and The Ascension in an Eight Man Tag Team Match.

*** Smackdown Live ***

- Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan Promo: Smackdown Live kicks off with Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan arriving on the Smackdown Live stage. Shane and Bryan hype tonight's huge 900th episode of Smackdown, announce the appearances of The Undertaker and Edge and also hype up the rest of tonight's show. Shane sends us to the ring where the WWE Intercontinental Championship Match will kick off the show.

- "WWE Intercontinental Championship Match": Dolph Ziggler (c) vs. The Miz: The match closes out with Miz getting a near fall on Ziggler with the Skull Crushing Finale. Ziggler counters a figure four leg lock submission attempt and Miz counters a Ziggler DDT. Ziggler ends up hitting the Zig Zag on Miz for a near fall. The Spirit Squad suddenly hit the ring and jump on the apron, but Ziggler sends both members flying. Miz takes out Ziggler's knee and locks in the figure four leg lock submission. Ziggler reaches the ropes to break the hold. Ziggler small packages Miz, but Maryse helps Miz from the outside reverse it and Miz scores the pinfall to win the title.
Winner: The Miz, by pinfall, to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

- A Smackdown tribute video is shown, showing the time when Steve Austin destroyed the DX Express Bus.

- Backstage, Alexa Bliss confronts Daniel Bryan and asks him if he seen her controversial ending to her title match last week. Bryan says he seen it five times, the referee's decision still stands, she'll get a rematch, but she needs to concentrate on beating Team RAW right now. Alexa asks when will she get her rematch, but Nattie Neidhart interrupts with her coach whistle and Alexa storms off.

- Kalisto vs. Oney Lorcan: The match closes out with Kalisto landing a roundhouse kick on Lorcan and then a thrust kick to the gut. Kalisto botches a springboard and Lorcan gets a near fall. Lorcan unloads uppercuts on Kalisto, but Kalisto comes back and hits the Salida Del Sol for the pinfall.
Winner: Kalisto, by pinfall.

- A Smackdown tribute video is shown, showing the first episode of Smackdown when Triple H defeated The Rock with the help from special guest referee Shawn Micheals.

- Backstage, Heath Slater and Rhyno bring in King Booker as a motivational speaker for Team Smackdown Live. Tyler Breeze and Fandango arrive as the Fashion Police, give everyone citations and give everyone puffy shirts to wear. King Booker says you have to dress like a champ not a Pirates of the Caribbean reject and then blows his nose in the shirt. 

- Nikki Bella vs. Carmella: Charlotte from RAW shows up with a front row ticket to watch this match. The match closes out with Nikki sending Carmella into the barricade as Charlotte cheers on Nikki. Nikki smacks Charlotte in the face with a forearm and the referee throws out the match. After the match, Nikki ground and pounds Charlotte as the rest of Team RAW arrive and beat down Nikki and Carmella both. Team Smackdown Live hits the ring and a brawl breaks out at ringside. Nia Jax beats down Nattie Neidhart and Becky Lynch, but misses a spear and crashes through the barricade. Naomi hits a springboard cross body onto Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Bayley outside. Team Smackdown Live finally clears out Team RAW and celebrates
Winner: No Contest

- "Eight Man Tag Team Match": American Alpha, The Usos, Breezango and The Hype Bros. vs. The Spirit Squad, The Headbangers, The Vaudevillians and The Ascension: The match closes out with Gable getting a near fall belly to belly suplex off the ropes on Thrasher. Jordan tosses out Mosh, but gets attacked by The Spirit Squad. Breezago hits double Beauty Shots on The Spirit Squad. The Ascension toss out Breezago. Ryder hits a Rough Ryder on Konnar, then joins Mojo for a double clothesline on The Vaudevillains. The Usos fly and hit planchas on everyone outside. American Alpha hit the Grand Amplitude on Thrasher and score the pinfall.
Winners: American Alpha, Breezago, The Usos and The Hype Bros., by pinfall.

- The Cutting Edge with Edge: Edge is happy to be here and is excited for WWE Survivor Series. Team Smackdown Live make their way to the ring to join Edge. Edge says there's one man that personifies the beacon of light on the show and Edge wants to shake his hand. Edge passes by AJ Styles, who thought he was talking about him and shakes James Ellsworth’s hand. Ellsworth wants to do the 5 second pose with Edge, but Styles stops it from happening and says it was stupid then and still stupid now and he's the only one that matters. Edge asks Randy Orton why is Bray Wyatt controlling him like a puppet. Bray says the Orton we knew is dead and there will be a deadlier Viper on Sunday. Shane McMahon says that for one night everyone needs to be on the same page because Smackdown Live is the money show. Styles says they'll stick together because Styles has chosen to be the bigger man than the hothead Dean Ambrose.
Ambrose calls Styles a bonehead and promises to align with Styles at Survivor Series, but afterwards at WWE TLC he's coming for Styles and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Undertaker's music hits and the deadman appears on the Smackdown Live stage. Taker says he's back for two reasons. Number one, is to take souls and dig holes. Number two, if  you fail Team Smackdown Live at WWE Survivor Series, where The Undertaker was born, then expect The Undertaker to pay you a visit. Undertaker says that Team RAW better Rest in Peace.
