Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 4.26.16: RAW

By Brandon Albright, @B_Rock1978

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is back with this week's RAW Recap Edition.

This week's RAW was live in Hartford, Connecticut, not very far away from WWE Headquarters. RAW also served up it's go home show to this Sunday's WWE Payback pay per view. Be sure to follow Triple Threat CLE as I'll have the WWE Payback preview up for you sometime mid-week. This week, Shane McMahon returned for another week to run RAW, as there has still been no signs of Triple H or Stephanie McMahon (aka The Authority), ever since Triple H lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania. AJ Styles was in one on one action tonight, battling the League of Nations leader, Sheamus. Former Bullet Club members in NJPW, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, made their RAW match debut, facing The Usos. The Usos looked to get redemption for their beat down by Gallows and Anderson two weeks ago. Sami Zayn battled Rusev of the League of Nations in one on one action. Apollo Crews battled Stardust one on one. Emma battled Nattie Neidhart in Women's Division action. Baron Corbin battled Damien Sandow. The main event saw Roman Reigns battle Alberto Del Rio of the League of Nations.

*** RAW ***

- RAW began with a graphic "In Memory" of Joanie "Chyna" Laurer. For those that might not have heard, Chyna passed away late last week.

- Shane McMahon Promo: Shane says he's back again thanks to the fans and we can expect new faces and new matches. Stephanie McMahon returns and interrupts her brother. Stephanie announces that this will be Shane's last RAW, as The Authority will resume command next week. Stephanie announces that Vince McMahon will be at WWE Payback on Sunday and officially announce who takes RAW, The Authority or Shane. Shane orders Stephanie out of the ring and calls for security when she refuses. Stephanie leaves with security and lands a few slaps on one of the guards on the way out. AJ Styles heads out to the ring for a match and greets Shane as they cross paths.

- AJ Styles vs. Sheamus: The match closes out with Sheamus applying the Cloverleaf submission on Styles. Styles escapes and dodges a Sheamus Brogue Kick, causing Sheamus to get caught in the ropes. Styles hits the Phenomenal Forearm on Sheamus and scores the pinfall. After the match, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson appear on the RAW stage and applaud Styles' victory.
Winner: AJ Styles, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Roman Reigns and The Usos just witnessed what happened. All three agree that they think Styles, Gallows and Anderson are all in cahoots together. Reigns and The Usos promise to have each others backs.

- The New Day Promo: The New Day talk about the #1 Contenders tag team tournament, sponsored by Booty-O's cereal. They give a shout out to the late great Prince, who passed away over the weekend and are interrupted by The Vaudevillains. The Vaudevillains cut a promo on The New Day and WWE Payback and out come their Payback opponents Enzo and Big Cass. Enzo and Cass cut promos and proclaim that they will leave Payback the new #1 contenders to the WWE World Tag Team Championship because The Vaudevillains are.......SAWFT. Woods says it doesn't matter who wins cause The New Day are the champs and "New Day Rocks". The New Day dance to their theme music as Enzo, Cass and The Vaudevillains stare each other down to end the segment.

- Backstage, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are spotted leaving AJ Styles' dressing room.

- The Usos vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson: The match closes out with Gallows tossing Jey to the floor and then over the barricade. Jimmy suicide dives Gallows and checks on Jey. Anderson and Gallows retreat to the RAW stage as Reigns checks on his cousins.
Winners: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, by pinfall.

- Backstage, AJ Styles asks Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson why can't they stay out of trouble. Gallows and Anderson blame it on Roman Reigns. Gallows and Anderson know Styles can win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship alone, but they will make sure it's a fair fight. The trio embrace in friendship to end the segment.

- Sami Zayn vs. Rusev: The match closes out with Rusev blocking the Blue Thunder Bomb and plants Zayn with a fall away slam for a near fall. Rusev counters a Zayn arm drag and lands a thrust kick for another near fall. Rusev stomps on Zayn's back and goes for The Accolade. Zayn counters, rolls up Rusev and scores the pinfall. After the match, Lana throws her shoe at Zayn as he leaves and heads to the RAW stage. Kevin Owens suddenly comes out of nowhere and knocks Zayn out with a blow to the back of the head.

Winner: Apollo Crews, by pinfall.

- Dean Ambrose Promo: Ambrose says he's not in a good mood tonight, is facing one of the best wrestlers, Chris Jericho on Sunday, but Jericho needs to realize that Ambrose is pretty good too. Ambrose calls out Jericho and Jericho arrives. Jericho calls Ambrose a disrespectful stupid idiot, tells the fans to shut up and he'd never fight Ambrose in a dump like Hartford. Jericho says Ambrose should be thanking Jericho for their match on Sunday cause it'll be Ambrose's best match ever. Jericho demands Ambrose to kiss his $1500 boots, apologize for disrespecting him and for stealing the Highlight Reel, or he'll be sorry. Ambrose says he's sorry that Jericho has ugly ass shoes, wears a scarf, has a Bon Jovi hair cut and is a stupid insecure egomaniac, that he'll beat on Sunday. Ambrose says that he's not sorry for this.....and begins brawling with Jericho. Jericho sends Ambrose into the announcers table, then into the announcers monitor. Jericho pounds on Ambrose, locks Ambrose in the Walls Of Jericho submission and keeps it applied until WWE Officials force Jericho off.

- Emma vs. Nattie Neidhart: WWE Women's Champion, Charlotte and Ric Flair are at ringside. The match closes out with Emma locking in a full nelson submission on Nattie. Emma sends Nattie into the turnbuckles and lands a clothesline. Nattie comes back and locks Emma in the Sharpshooter submission and forces Emma to tap out. After the match, Nattie dares Charlotte to come get some but she stays put.
Winner: Nattie, by submission.

- Damien Sandow vs. Baron Corbin: Before the match even starts, Dolph Ziggler attacks Corbin from behind and both men brawl around the arena. WWE Officials get both men separated. It's announced that Dolph Ziggler will face Baron Corbin at WWE Payback.

Reigns nails the spear on Del Rio and scores the pinfall. After the match, Gallows and Anderson hit the ring and beat down Reigns. AJ Styles hits the ring and tries to get Gallows and Anderson to back down. Styles gets hit with the Superman Punch by Reigns. Reigns then kicks Gallows and punches Anderson. Styles is back up and hits the Phenomenal Forearm on Reigns. All four men finally stare each other down with Gallows and Anderson laughing to end the show.
