Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 9.29.15: #RAW Recap

By @B_Rock1978

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE. It's time for this week's RAW recap.

- RAW was live this week in Buffalo, New York. Some highlights to this weeks show: We saw some build up to this Saturday Night's huge Madison Square Garden live event show that'll take place live on the WWE Network. John Cena brought back his United States Championship Open Challenge. Stephanie McMahon brought in a Human Resources representative to monitor Kane. Roman Reigns battled Bray Wyatt in the main event. All that and a lot more.

- The WWE United States Open Challenge Returns: John Cena kicked off RAW to announce the return of the WWE United States Championship Open Challenges. Without further ado, The New Day answer Cena's challenge and head to the ring. The New Day brag about being WWE World Tag Team Champions and now will take the U.S. Title. The New Day mention the Dudley Boys, calling them nasty and will defeat them this Saturday night at the MSG show. Xavier Woods enters the ring, tells Cena he's about to get lost in the Woods and will challenge for the title.

- John Cena defeated Xavier Woods, by DQ, to retain the WWE United States Championship: The referee kicks out Big E and Kofi Kingston for attempted interference early. The match closes out with Cena attempting an AA, but Woods counters out and hits Eat Defeat for a near fall. Woods lands a running DDT on Cena and gets another near fall. Woods flies off the top rope for a drop kick, but Cena dodges and Woods crashes on the mat. Cena applies the STF submission on Woods and Woods looks like he's about to tap out. Big E and Kingston return and attack Cena, causing the DQ. After the match, The New Day 3 on 1 attack Cena until the Dudley Boys hit the ring and make the save. Corporate Kane announces a Six Man Tag Team Match and that match is now.

- The New Day defeated John Cena and The Dudley Boys, by pinfall, in a Six Man Tag Team Match: The match closes out with Big E spearing Cena off the apron. The Dudley Boys hit Whazz Up and go for the 3D. Xavier Woods gets the distraction and Kofi hits Trouble In Paradise to score the pinfall.

- Backstage, Triple H and Stephanie have a Human Resources representative named Ashley, present. Triple H says it's a bad idea. Stephanie says Ashley will observe Kane to see if he's fit to be the DOO. Seth Rollins says it's an outrage that someone would file a complaint on Kane.

- Backstage, Dean Ambrose tells Roman Reigns he has Reigns' back if the Wyatt Family try anything. Reigns says Randy Orton will help too if needed. Ambrose doesn't trust Orton after what Chris Jericho pulled at Night Of Champions. Orton appears and tells Reigns to finish the Wyatt Family tonight or its open season.

- Big Show defeated Mark Henry, by pinfall: The match closes out with Show spearing Henry, body slamming Henry three times and landing a kick to Henry's face. Show measures up and hits Henry with the Knockout Punch to score the pinfall.

- Miz TV With Special Guest: Charlotte and Becky Lynch: Becky threatens to slap Miz after Miz makes his usual smartass remarks. Charlotte calls out Paige to talk, but Team Bella arrive instead. Nikki claims to be the real brains behind the Divas Revolution. Charlotte says the fans are to thank for the Divas Revolution. Paige arrives, mocks Charlotte and Paige and says Nikki is where she is cause of her boyfriend (John Cena). All six women begin to brawl, until Charlotte, Becky and Paige clear the ring. Corporate Kane announces a Six Woman Tag Team Match and that match is now.

- Team Bella defeated Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Paige, by pinfall, in a Six Woman Tag Team Match: The match closes out with Paige getting upset that no one will tag her in. Charlotte goes for the Figure Eight, but Nikki kicks Charlotte into Paige, who falls off the apron. Paige walks out, so Nattie Neidhart arrives and takes her spot. Paige comes back and pulls Nattie off the apron. Nikki meanwhile hits the Rack Attack on Charlotte to score the pinfall.

- Backstage, Seth Rollins tells HR rep. Ashley that Kane is out to get him. Kane arrives, hands Rollins a present and thanks Rollins for everything. Inside the box is Rollins' statue head. Kane says it's amazing what he can do with a shovel and a flashlight. Rollins storms off.

- Luke Harper and Braun Strowman defeated The Prime Time Players, by stoppage: The match closes out with Titus making the hot tag and unloading on Harper. Strowman distracts Titus, causing Titus to get hit with Harper's clothesline. Strowman is in and locks in his Bear Hug/Choke Out submission on Titus. Titus passes out and the referee stops the match.

- Neville defeated Stardust, by DQ: The match closes out with Neville going for the Red Arrow. Bad News Barrett's music hits and Barrett returns. Barrett knocks out Neville with the Bullhammer. Stardust tries to escape, but also gets popped with the Bullhammer by Barrett.

- Kane's Evaluation: Corporate Kane and HR rep. Ashley are in the ring. Seth Rollins immediately interrupts and says Kane is not who he says he is. Rollins shows a video of Demon Kane and says that's who Corporate Kane really is. Kane retorts by showing a video of Rollins being mean to him. Rollins goes on a rant about Kane. Ashley says Kane is perfectly fine and if anyone needs help it's Seth Rollins. Rollins snaps and hits a Pedigree on Kane. Rollins grabs a steel chair and unloads on Kane's leg with it. WWE medical check on Kane and load him into an ambulance. Smoke pours out of the ambulance, Demon Kane emerges and stalks Rollins. Kane unloads on Rollins and plants him with a choke slam. Kane goes for the Tombstone, but Rollins escapes. Kane picks up the WWE World Title and pyro explodes from the ring post.

- Randy Orton defeated Bo Dallas, by pinfall: The match closes out with Orton hitting the stalling DDT and follows up with the RKO. Orton covers and scores the pinfall.

- Rusev defeated Kevin Owens, by DQ: Ryback is on commentary for this match. The match closes out with Rusev and Owens fighting on the floor. Owens throws Rusev into Ryback. Ryback attacks Rusev and then Owens, causing the DQ. Rusev attacks Ryback until Dolph Ziggler hits the ring to make the save.

- Paul Heyman Hypes Brock Lesnar vs Big Show At The MSG Show: Heyman says the problem with Show is he's bored, no one can push him to the limit, but on Saturday, Brock Lesnar will do the honors and take Show to Suplex City. Show interrupts and says he's motivated, he can push Lesnar to the limit and Heyman's future will be one without Brock Lesnar.

- Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt goes to a Double Countout: Reigns hits the Superman punch and Bray rolls to the floor. Reigns follows and runs at Bray. Bray dodges and Reigns goes head first into the steel steps. Reigns is up, dodges Bray who tossed the steel steps at him and clotheslines Bray over the barricade. Bray and Reigns are both counted out. After the match, Bray and Reigns brawl throughout the arena and into the crowd. Bray hits a cross body block on Reigns, putting him through the barricade. Bray poses on the announcers table, when suddenly Reigns comes out of nowhere and spears Bray through the table. Both men are left laid out to close out RAW.

On The Mark 9.28.15: #Browns v #Raiders Recap

McCown starts slow, defense doesn't start at all in 27-20 embarrassing loss to the Raiders
By @MarkW2112

When Josh McCown was named starter after being cleared to play after a concussion suffered against the Buffalo Bills, Mike Pettine said that McCown gave the Browns the best chance to win.  Sadly for Pettine, that idea blew up in his face.  The Browns lost 27-20 to the Oakland Raiders at First Energy Stadium due to McCown slow start and interception at the end of the game to Charles Woodson.  In between, McCown, who was 28 of 49 for 341 yards and 2 touchdowns, missed his receivers many times and either over threw or under threw several long balls to Travis Benjamin, including on the game ending interception.  The running game once again was non existent with Isaiah Crowell and Duke Johnson being non-factors.

But as bad as the offense was, it was the defense that was a true nightmare.  The secondary, which was supposed to be one of the best in the NFL, were sliced and diced by Derek Carr, who now has Amari Cooper to do a lot of damage against any NFL defense.  Carr ended the day 20 of 32 for 314 yards and 2 touchdowns.  He was barely touched at all day as the Browns did not sack him.  Cooper was spectacular, with 134 yards receiving yards on 8 catches.  With the exception of a fumble, the Browns had no answers for him.  Latavius Murray slashed through the Browns porous run defense for 139 yards and 1 touchdown.

My take:  The Browns are a disaster once again.  Can't stop the run on defense, can't run on offense.  Josh McCown was rusty to start the game but was able to find a rhythm near the end.  That said, he was sacked 5 times, and missed wide open receivers, namely Travis Benjamin.  It proved that perhaps Mike Pettine out thought himself once more by starting McCown over Johnny Manziel.  But what's really disturbing is the defense.  The Browns invested a ton of money and draft picks in to the defense and they still can't stop the run and still get beat on pass protection.  This is a nightmare scenario for both Pettine and Ray Farmer, who would appear to be on a very tight leash with Jimmy Haslam.  It appears that, once again, the Browns will have another losing season and have fans longing for the good old days.

Player of the game: Derek Carr, who was suburb against the Browns defense.

Play of the game:  Brian Hartline, making another spectacular catch, this time with his legs.

Turning point:  Josh McCown's interception to Charles Woodson to end the game when it looked like they could tie it.

Next game:  In San Diego against the Chargers

Lee's Keys 9.27.15: #Browns vs. #Raiders

By @cleeverizon

Have you ever wanted to know what the Browns coaches points of empathize is  to their players heading into a game? Come inside the mind of the coaches with Lee's Keys.

1. STOP THE RUN The Browns rank 32nd in the league which is dead last in run defense giving up 160 yards per game. With Paul Kruger being the primary edge rusher, Barkevious Mingo has the assignment of outside contain on his side. After reviewing the game a few times over, Mingo needs to create better angles while in pursuit of the quarterback and set the edge. He gets sucked to the inside way to often and running backs have been bouncing to the outside and picking up chunks of yards from the edge.

2. DON'T GIVE UP THE BIG PLAY Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree had over 100 yards receiving last week in the Raiders win over the Baltimore Ravens. The Raiders offensive line allowed Carr to have too much time in the pocket. The Browns defense needs to play tight press coverage on the outside with cornerbacks Tramon Williams and Joe Haden. Haden was solid last week, rebounding from a slow Week 1 start. Williams was the highest graded cornerback in the NFL from Week 2 with a +3.4.

3. PUSH, PUSH, PUSH! The offensive line needs to explode off of the ball and win the battles in the trenches to establish a good running game. The Browns are only averaging 3.8 yards per carry and have ONE rushing touchdown on the season. Isaiah Crowell needs to touch the ball 18-23 times to get into a rhythm. Using Duke Johnson on screens and flare patterns out of the backfield will also slow down the aggressive Oakland front 7.

4. SPEED KILLS! Use Travis Benjamin as a decoy downfield to keep the safeties out of the box. This will open up patterns underneath for Brian Hartline and Rob Housler. Most importantly, this will create space for Isaiah Crowell in the second level of the defense.

5. MINIMIZE PENALTIES! In the Browns first game of the season against the New York Jets, the Browns committed 12 penalties that resulted in 109 yards. Last week versus the Tennessee Titans, they improved to just 4 penalties for 40 yards. They need stay on that track since we all know that penalties can quickly kill a drive and the momentum of a game. Especially those committed on a 3rd down. Third and 3 can turn into third and 13 from a simple, avoidable, holding penalty.

#Browns Preview 9.25.15: Oakland #Raiders @ Cleveland Browns

Did coach Pettine go with what's best or with what's safe?
By @mrgroce

Last Sunday, Johnny Manziel led the Cleveland Browns to their first win of the season. It wasn't a spectacular showing by Johnny, but he did his job. Manziel was 8-15 for 172 yards and 2 td's. His performance was very "Tim Tebow like" in the sense of he made a couple of big plays but the rest of the game he looked less than average. Manziel has only played 14 quarters in his whole career so not much should be expected. Josh McCown passed the necessary tests that have made him available to play if called upon, and sure enough coach Mike Pettine has tabbed him as the starter for Sunday's game.

The question is, did coach Pettine make the decision that's best or the decision that's safe.  It appears that by going with McCown, coach Pettine has chosen the safe route by choosing the quarterback that he feels gives the team the best chance to win against the Raiders. McCown, in his limited showing against the Jets led the team on a good long drive until he fumbled inside of the 10 yd line. He's a veteran who's seen it all, and won the job out of training camp. Manziel is young, still trying to figure things out, and does a better job of improvising than standing in the pocket and going through his progressions.

What's going on in Berea is the complete opposite of the quarterback situation at The Ohio State University in which you have two very good play callers and you have no clue which guy you feel is best. The Browns QB situation seems more to me as though you have two bad play callers and you don't know which awful guy to put in. I don't think coach Pettine can make a bad call here, but I guess if it were up to me I'd go with Johnny. He's more of the unknown and he's supposed to be the quarterback of the future, play him and see what he's got. The Raiders have the worst defense in the NFL, giving up 33 points and 444 yards per game. I would like to think that Johnny could do some damage against that type of defense, while at the same time building up a little confidence.  McCown is a 13yr vet who has played for nine different teams, pretty sure he's not going to lead the team to the playoffs this year. In fact he's never led a team to the playoffs.

McCown does a nice job of spreading the ball around so I would imagine that against the Raiders offense he will put up some pretty good numbers. I expect the running backs (Isaiah Crowell,Duke Johnson) to gain 120-170yds on the ground and with the Raiders best defensive back, Charles Woodson being 38 years old, I believe the receivers will be able to get themselves open. Offensively the Raiders best two players are QB Derek Carr and WR Amari Cooper. Carr, like Manziel is in his second year and seems to be improving. Expect the Browns to put pressure on him to see if he can make quick decision. I also expect Cooper to get at least one touchdown against Browns cornerback Joe Haden, because you know, everyone gets at least one touchdown against Haden.

When the clock hits 00:00 I expect the Browns to come away victorious at home with a double digit win. My prediction, Browns 27, Raiders 13.

3 Rivers Rundown 9.25.15: Pittsburgh, We Have Life! #Steelers

By @Kratoslives

Ok Carnell Lake, your crew has been given life by being hit with a defibrillator. Now what do you got for us Steelers faithfuls? They responded better this time around until the fourth quarter. Then they got beside themselves and started making "excitement mistakes", which turned them sloppy. Tell them to slow their roll and focus on concentration.

Now comes a even harder test. Can they get an interception and contain a weaker wide receiver and tight end unit? The Rams offense isn't as strong as the Patriots or 49ers, so will they play down to the competition? Or will they shut them down and make the Rams one dimensional? In theory, it sounds easy. But the Steelers as a whole will play down to a lesser opponent. Just look how they always seem to lose to the Raiders.

Just odd and weird.

We will be facing a team with a QB who just put on a shaky performance. So it is up to the defense, mainly the secondary, to keep doubt in Rams QB Nick Foles' mind. The best way to make him second guess himself is to try to confuse him with different looks and formations while trying to force an interception. This will make him hold on to the ball longer on pass plays, making him over think his decisions and reads. Which in turn will give our front seven more time to get to him in the pocket. Also, it will make him press and we all know what happens after that. Correct, turnovers! These are the things that lead to victories and championships.

This game will be the final chapter of bad press or the beginning of "Make it stop" quotes and heckling. The best part of it all, is LeVeon Bell will be back and that the Rams gives up yards on the ground. So the defense should get some good rest in between offensive and defensive positions. However remember this is a Jeff Fischer team so your going to impose your will on them. If you do this and play to "The Standard Is The Standard" we should come out victorious.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 9.25.15: #NXT & #SmackDown

By @B_Rock1978

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE. It's this week's NXT and Smackdown recap for the week.

- Eva Marie defeated Carmella, by countout: The match closes out with Carmella landing a hurricanrana on Marie out of the corner. Carmella continues her offensive assault with two Thez presses on Eva and goes for the cover. The referee stops at a two count and says Eva got her foot on the rope to break up the pinfall. Marie is up, grabs Carmella, tosses her to the floor and it looks like Carmella smacked her head on the entrance ramp. Carmella is unable to answer the ten count and Eva wins by countout.

- Tyler Breeze defeated Bull Dempsey, by pinfall: The match closes out with Breeze landing punches and Dempsey returns the favor and unloads on Breeze. Dempsey goes for the top rope diving head butt, but Breeze rolls away and Dempsey follows. Dempsey gets Breeze set up and goes to the top rope again. Asuka leaves, but stops on the entrance ramp and stares down Emma and Dana.

- We get an update on the current brackets in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament.

- The Vaudevillains defeated Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy, by pinfall, to retain the NXT World Tag Team Championship: The match closes out with Blake and Murphy working over English, double teaming and keeping Gotch out of the match.
