Wrestling Lockup With Brandon 6/22/17: NXT

NXT is back this week with things still unsettled between NXT Women's Champion Asuka and Nikki Cross, as they left each other laid out last week. Ember Moon returned this week after suffering from a shoulder injury. NXT World Champion Bobby Roode continued his current feud with Roderick Strong. Kassius Ohno tried to talk some sense into his friend Hideo Itami after his current losing streak continued. The undefeated Aleister Black stepped into the ring this week as well.

- Ember Moon battled Peyton Royce as Ember returned to action this week.
- SAnitY battled The Ealy Brothers.
- Rachel Evers battled Sonya DeVille.
- Aleister Black battled Kassius Ohno.

** NXT **

- Ember Moon vs. Peyton Royce: The match closes out with Ember hitting a suicide dive on Billie Kay at ringside. Back in the ring, both ladies reverse pinfall attempts on each other. Peyton hits a Widows Peak on Ember and gets a near fall. Ember sends Peyton into the corner and hits the Eclipse Stunner to score the pinfall.
Winner: Ember Moon, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Hideo Itami apologizes to Kassius Ohno for the way he's been acting all month. Itami says he's not had the same success in NXT that he had in Japan and it's starting to bother him. Ohno understands and says that's all going to change tonight.

- Ealy Brothers vs. SAnitY: The match closes out with Wolfe working over Gabriel until he finally tags in Uriel. Uriel unloads on Eric Young and Wolfe. Uriel goes for their finisher on Wolfe, but Young makes the save and takes out one of the Ealy Brothers.
The referee tells Young to get out of the ring as Wolfe delivers an illegal thumb to the eye on the other Ealy Brother. Young hits his neck breaker finisher and scores the pinfall.
Winners: SAnitY, by pinfall.

- It's announced that Asuka will defend her NXT Women's Championship next week against Nikki Cross in a Last Woman Standing Match.

- Rachel Evers vs. Sonya DeVille: The match closes out with Rachel hitting a jaw breaker and landing some punches on Sonya. Sonya counters and delivers punches of her own, firing herself up to the point that she takes off her MMA gloves to continue the beating. Sonya finally traps Rachel in a wrist lock arm submission and gets the tap out win.
Winner: Sonya DeVille, by submission.

- NXT World Champion Bobby Roode is at a photo shoot when Roderick Strong and his family arrive. Roode mocks Strong saying that he'll need a double wide trailer soon if he keeps having kids. Roode then tells Strong's fiance that if she ever wants to be with a real man than Bobby Roode is available. Strong snaps and attacks Roode, brawling with him until both men are separated. Roode tells Strong he can have a title shot anytime, anyplace.

- Kassius Ohno vs. Aleister Black: The match closes out with Ohno landing a corner kick on Black. Ohno continues to deliver kicks on Black until Black gets a near fall pinning combo. Black delivers more strikes and gets a near fall after connecting with a knee on Ohno. Ohno returns more strikes, takes off his elbow pad and goes for the Rolling Elbow. Black counters and we get a series of kicks, knees and forearms. Ohno attempts the Rolling Elbow again, but gets hit with the Black Mass kick instead from Black. Black covers and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Aleister Black, by pinfall.
