Wrestling Lockup With Brandon 6/1/17: NXT Recap

By Brandon Albright, @B_Rock1978

NXT returned this week and we're still wondering why Tommaso Ciampa turned on Johnny Gargano. "The Velveteen Dream" Patrick Clark debuted last week, while Drew McIntyre and Aleister Black both stayed dominate. What did NXT have in store for us this week?

** This Weeks Card **

- WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne battled Danny Burch in a non title match.
- Andrade "Cien" Almas battled Cezar Bononi.
- Roderick Strong and Kassius Ohno battled SAnitY.

- Tommaso Ciampa finally comes forward and explains why he turned on his best friend Johnny Gargano at NXT Takeover: Chicago.

** NXT **

- Tommaso Ciampa Promo: Ciampa comes out on crutches to start the show. Ciampa says that when he injured his ankle before NXT Takeover: Chicago, no one cared about his well being, people only cared about who would be Johnny Gargano's partner if Ciampa couldn't go. Ciampa said deep down he thought that if the fans wanted Ciampa replaced then so did Gargano. So Ciampa decided that now that he will be out for a long period of time with his injury then so will Gargano. Since Takeover wasn't #DIY's moment, Ciampa made it his moment and attacked Gargano. Ciampa promises that he will be one dangerous son of a bitch when he returns from his injury.

- We get an update on Johnny Gargano, but there isn't one as Gargano has been quiet since Ciampa attacked him.

- NXT World Champion Bobby Roode is shown. Roode says he'll be back next week for a glorious celebration.

- Pete Dunne vs. Danny Burch: The match closes out with Burch catching Dunne with a punch as Dunne attempted a springboard. Burch with a draping DDT on Dunne for a near fall. Dunne sends Burch into the corner with a suplex and then hits Bitter End to score the pinfall.
Winner: Pete Dunne, by pinfall.

- Backstage, The Velveteen Dream Patrick Clark says everything in NXT needs to change and be perfect and he'll be the one to fix it.

- Andrade "Cien" Almas vs. Cezar Bononi: The match closes out with Almas going for double knees on Bononi. Almas stops, mocks Bononi with a yell and then slaps Bononi in the face. Almas goes for his finisher, but Bononi surprises Almas with a rollup and scores the upset pinfall.
Winner: Cezar Bononi, by pinfall.

- At the NXT Performance Center Peyton Royce and Billie Kay want to remodel the place. Ember Moon is then shown signing her release papers from her doctor, clearing her to wrestle. Ember smiles at Peyton and Billie to end the segment.

- SAnitY vs. Roderick Strong and Kassius Ohno: The match closes out with Young hitting a neck breaker on Strong. All four men start brawling and Young yells for Dain to interfere. No Way Jose hits the ring, makes the save and unloads on Dain. Strong hits his back breaker finisher and scores the pinfall.
Winners: Roderick Strong and Kassius Ohno, by pinfall.
