Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE. It's this week's NXT and Smackdown recaps for the week.
*** NXT ***
- NXT was taped in Orlando Florida, at Full Sail University.
- Emma vs. Charlotte Flair: Emma hits what looks like a curb stomp on Charlotte and then locks in a half crab submission. Charlotte escapes the submission and hits Emma with "Natural Selection". Charlotte covers and scores the pin.
- After The Match: Bayley confronts Emma and decides to give Emma a hug. Bayley, however, won't release the hug and instead lays Emma out with a belly to belly suplex. Charlotte pulls Bayley off of Emma, but not before Bayley gets back her t-shirt Emma was wearing.
- Kevin Owens is featured in a previously recorded interview. Owens says what he did to Sami Zayn, he did for his family and for a better life. Owens is irritated that no one even congratulated him when he won the NXT World Title, or even showed respect. All the journalists want a juicy story on why Owens did what he did to Zayn, but like he said it was all about bettering his family.
- Bull Dempsey vs. Rhyno: Rhyno picks up a quick pinfall on Dempsey after hitting the "Gore".
- After The Match: Rhyno grabs a mic and sends out a challenge to Baron Corbin for a match at NXT Takeover.
- Backstage, Sasha Banks says Fabulous Moolah was the greatest women's wrestler of all time, until Sasha arrived. Sasha says she made a name for Becky Lynch and can also end it in a snap.
- NXT newcomer Uhaa Nation is shown signing his NXT contract with NXT GM William Regal.
- Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder vs. Enzo Amore and Big Cass: Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy attack Cass and Enzo backstage and leave them laid out, cancelling the match.
- Sami Zayn is featured in a previously recorded interview. Zayn dares Kevin Owens to come out to the ring next week and admit to Owens' family the real reason why he did what he did to Zayn. Zayn dares Owens to be a role model for once to his kids.
- NXT Women's Championship Contract Signing: Becky Lynch cuts a promo on all of her sacrifices and jobs she's had coming up in wrestling to get to this title shot at Takeover. Lynch signs the contract as the champion, Sasha Banks, looks on. Banks doesn't say a word, stamps her signature on the contract and NXT GM William Regal signs it to make it official. Banks throws the contract at Lynch, gives her a cheap shot and throws her over the contract table. Banks grabs Lynch, but Lynch counters and slaps on an armbar submission. Banks taps out continuously until Lynch finally releases the hold.
- Hideo Itami vs. Tyler Breeze: Finn Balor is at ringside for this match. Itami goes for a running kick, but Breeze rolls outside. Itami follows and goes for the running kick again. Breeze dodges and Itami hits Balor on accident, sending Balor over the barricade. Back in the ring, Itami dodges the "Beauty Shot" and hits the one legged drop kick on Breeze. Itami covers and scores the pin.
- After The Match: Breeze attacks Itami and Balor makes the save. Balor teases an attack on Itami, but instead Breeze hits the "Beauty Shot" on both Balor and Itami to end the show.
*** Smackdown ***
- Smackdown was taped this week up north, across the border, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
- King Barrett kicks off Smackdown in the ring. Barrett accuses Jerry "The King" Lawler of being an impostor king and orders Lawler to say "All Hail King Barrett". Lawler refuses, so Barrett wants to fight him. Dolph Ziggler interrupts and says Barrett is the only thing that's about to get dropped and we have an impromptu match.
- King Barrett vs. Dolph Ziggler: Barrett hits "Winds of Change", but Ziggler comes back with the "Famasser" for a near fall. Sheamus hits the ring and double teams Ziggler with Barrett, DQ'ing Barrett. Barrett kicks Ziggler and he and Sheamus tie Ziggler in the ropes. Neville hits the ring, drop kicks both Barrett and Sheamus and makes the save for Ziggler. The four are now put into an impromptu tag team match against each other.
- King Barrett and Sheamus vs. Dolph Ziggler and Neville: Ziggler hits a drop kick and a DDT on Barrett for a near fall. Sheamus gets sent to the floor, where Neville hits a splash on him. Barrett covers Ziggler and tries to steal a pin, with his feet on the ropes. Neville shoves Barrett's feet off the ropes and it allows Ziggler to hit the "Zig Zag" on Barrett. Ziggler covers Barrett and scores the pin.
- Luke Harper vs. Fandango: Fandango hits a spinning heel kick and a tornado DDT. Fandango goes to the top rope for the Fandango leg drop. Harper counters and tosses Fandango off the ropes, across the ring. Harper hits a super kick and the big clothesline. Harper covers and scores the pin.
- After The Match: Erick Rowan comes to the ring and attacks Fandango. Rowan stomps on Fandango, hits a knee and lays Fandango out with a full nelson bomb. Rowan stares at Harper before leaving the ring.
- Rusev and Lana are in the ring. Lana asks the fans to stop cheering her cause it angers Rusev. Rusev yells at Lana and tells her to leave. Rusev says John Cena showed weakness on RAW when he had mercy on Sami Zayn. Rusev says he'll crush Cena, expose his weakness, beat down Cena and make him say "I Quit".
- "Six Man Tag Match": The New Day vs. Tyson Kidd, Cesaro and Ryback: Ryback clotheslines Big E and sends Xavier Woods to the floor. Bray Wyatt's music hits, but Bray doesn't appear. Big E clotheslines Ryback on the distraction. Cesaro hits a DDT on Woods off the barricade. Kofi Kingston rolls Tyson Kidd up during all of the distractions, holds Kidd's tights and steals the pinfall.
- Emma vs. Naomi (w/Tamina Snuka): Emma dodges a Naomi splash and gets a near fall roll up. Emma goes for another pinfall, but Naomi bridges up and back slides Emma for a near fall. Emma runs the ropes, but gets clobbered on the rebound by Naomi with the "Rear View". Naomi covers and scores the pin.
- After The Match: Tamina gets in the ring and attacks Emma. Naomi stomps on Emma and Tamina finishes Emma off with a super kick.
- Lucha Dragons vs. Los Matadores (w/El Torito): Kalisto hits Diego with the handspring elbow. Sin Cara suicide dives on Diego on the floor. Sin Cara goes for a senton bomb on Fernando, but Fernando rolls out of the way. Sin Cara pops up, hooks Fernando in a cradle and scores the pin.
- WWE World Heavyweight Championship Contract Signing: Kane introduces Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Randy Orton. Ambrose makes fun of Rollins, cause Rollins stays on the stage. Reigns says he'll sign the contract and then go kick Rollins' ass. Ambrose says he'll drag Rollins in the ring if he has to. Rollins says Kane has the authority to sign the contract for him. Kane says Rollins is in perfect health, he can sign it himself. Mercury grabs the contract and takes it to Rollins. Rollins signs it and makes fun of Kane and his opponents. More back and forth name calling until Ambrose moves the table and kicks Mercury. A brawl breaks out, with Kane and Rollins double teaming Reigns. Ambrose splashes Kane and Rollins. Reigns hits a "Superman Punch" on Kane. Rollins escapes to the floor. Ambrose and Rollins begin shoving each other, until Orton hits an "RKO" on Ambrose. Rollins hits Orton with a knee and super kicks Reigns. Smackdown closes out with Rollins standing tall.
