Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE. It's this week's NXT and Smackdown recaps for the week.
*** NXT ***
- NXT was taped in Orlando Florida, at Full Sail University. This was the last NXT event, building up to NXT Takeover: Unstoppable next Wednesday.
- Baron Corbin vs. Solomon Crowe: Corbin puts up a easy squash match against Crowe. Crowe gets in a few kicks, then runs the ropes. Corbin catches Crowe on a springboard and lays Crowe out with "End of Days". Corbin covers and scores the pin. After the match, Rhyno comes out to the ring. Rhyno calls himself the "Other Unstoppable Force" in NXT and challenges Corbin to a match at Takeover. Corbin swings at Rhyno and we have ourselves a brawl. NXT officials hit the ring and try to seperate both men. Rhyno starts hitting gores on everyone in his path.
- Backstage, Finn Balor says the demon in him will come out at Takeover.
- Sasha Banks vs. K.C. Cassidy: Cassidy almost upsets the NXT Women's Champion with a near fall backslide and a near fall roll up. Sasha hits the "Bank Statement" and scores the pin on Cassidy.
- Backstage, Charlotte Flair and Bayley challenge Emma and Dana Brooke to a tag match at Takeover.
- NXT newcomer Uhaa Nation is shown working out. Nation is coming soon to NXT.
- Carmella vs. Alexa Bliss: Bliss hits the "Sparkle Splash" on Carmella and scores the pin. After the match, Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy come out to the ring. Blake and Murphy call Enzo Amore and Big Cass trash. Carmella says that after Enzo and Cass win the NXT World Tag Team Championship from Blake and Murphy at Takeover, one word will describe them......"SAWFT".
- Hideo Itami and Finn Balor vs. Adam Rose and Tyler Breeze: Itami and Balor force tag each other in throughout the match which causes friction between the two. Balor hits Breeze with the hesitation drop kick and Itami force tags himself in again. Balor and Itami get into an argument over the tags. Breeze sneaks in, rolls Itami up and scores the pin. After the match, Breeze hits a super kick on Itami and plants Balor with the "Beauty Shot". Breeze then turns on Rose and lays him out with a super kick too. NXT closes out with Breeze standing tall.
*** Smackdown ***
- Smackdown was taped this week in Evansville, Indiana. This was the last Smackdown building up to this Sunday's Payback pay per view.
- Smackdown kicked off with Bray Wyatt sending another creepy promo to Ryback, hyping their match at Payback on Sunday.
- Dean Ambrose is in the ring with a microphone. Ambrose says he works best alone and him laying out Roman Reigns with "Dirty Deeds" on RAW wasn't planned. Reigns interrupts and comes to the ring. Ambrose refuses to apologize. Reigns says he figured Ambrose would have done that, but it won't happen again. Ambrose and Reigns go to shake hands, but Kane interrupts. Kane announces Ambrose vs. Sheamus, right now.
- Dean Ambrose vs. Sheamus: Ambrose counters "White Noise" for a near fall. Sheamus hits "White Noise" on the second attempt, but misses the "Brogue Kick". Ambrose lands a suicide dive, but misses a top rope move. Sheamus mounts an offense, but Ambrose sends Sheamus head first into the ring post and scores the pin.
- Backstage, Seth Rollins tells Kane he has to help him or else The Authority won't pay him anymore. Kane announces Rollins vs. Ryback and says he saved all his money The Authority already paid him.
- Rusev and Lana are in the ring. Rusev makes Lana apologize for stealing Rusev's spotlight and letting the WWE Universe cheer her. Rusev then plays a video of John Cena saying "I Quit" on a loop, declaring Cena will say that at Payback.
- Backstage, Ryback says beating Seth Rollins tonight would be a huge opportunity for him. But he's also still looking forward to beating up Bray Wyatt at Payback.
- Seth Rollins is in the ring. Rollins calls his opponents at Payback as cut throat as he is and will do what ever needs done to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins turns his attention to Ryback, but the "Big Guy" interrupts and heads to the ring. Bray Wyatt suddenly comes out of nowhere and attacks Ryback from behind and lays him out on the
floor.
- Seth Rollins vs. Ryback: Ryback says he's ok and wants to fight. Rollins distracts the referee, allowing Mercury and Noble to attack Ryback on the floor. Ryback hits a back body drop and a powerslam for a near fall. Ryback hits the "Meat Hook" and sets Rollins up for "Shell Shock". Rollins counters, pokes Ryback in the eyes, hits a flying knee, then plants Ryback with two super kicks. Rollins covers and scores the pin.
- Backstage, Naomi and Tamina say they are tired of being overlooked, being empty handed, Brie Bella's husband, Daniel Bryan, is a joke and they run the Divas Division now.
- Kofi Kingston (w/The New Day) vs. Tyson Kidd (w/Nattie Neidhart and Cesaro): Kofi gets a near fall rollup, but Kidd traps Kofi in the "Sharpshooter" submission. Kofi has no choice but to tap out.
- Bo Dallas is in the ring. Dallas makes fun of Daniel Bryan for having to vacate the WWE Intercontinental Championship on RAW. Dallas tells the WWE Universe that he's here for us if we're upset.
- Neville vs. Bo Dallas: King Barrett is on commentary, scouting his opponent at Payback, Neville. Dallas gets a front face lock on Neville. Neville hits a kick and a forearm on Dallas. Neville goes up top, hits the "Red Arrow" and scores the pin. After the match, Barrett grabs a microphone. Barrett says Neville comes out in a ridiculous outfit and will be given a royal "Bullhammer" at Payback.
- Backstage, Rosa complains to Adam Rose that the Hot Dog in his Rosebuds keeps staring at her. The Hot Dog complains about not being paid. Rose knocks the Hot Dog down and says he's acting just like the Bunny used to. Kane walks by and gets disgusted as Rose and Rosa start making out.
- "Pinfall Or Submission Only Match": Roman Reigns vs. Kane: Kane attacks Reigns on the floor and sends him into the steel steps. Reigns comes back with a kendo stick and beats Kane with it. Kane grabs the stick and takes his turn on Reigns. Reigns counters a choke slam through the announcers table, hits a clothesline and tosses the steel steps into Kane. Later in the match, Kane choke slams Reigns through a table for a near fall. Reigns spears Kane through another table and scores the pin.
- Backstage, Dean Ambrose jumps Seth Rollins, Mercury and Noble, but the numbers are too much as Ambrose gets beat down. Reigns arrives and shoves a cart into The Authority and takes them all out. Ambrose puts the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Reigns' shoulder and tells Reigns not to worry because Ambrose will take it on Sunday.
And that closed out this week's Smackdown.
