Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 3.11.16: #NXT & #SmackDown

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your NXT Recap Edition.

This week's NXT took place at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. This week's whole show centered around Samoa Joe vs. Sami Zayn in a 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match with the winner facing Finn Balor for the NXT World Title at NXT Takeover: Dallas.

*** NXT ***

- William Regal Promo: NXT GM William Regal kicks off NXT inside the ring. Regal says he wanted to suspend Baron Corbin for attacking Austin Aries last week. Aries, however, asked Regal not to and instead asked Regal for a one on one match with Corbin. Regal officially announces Aries vs. Corbin at NXT Takeover: Dallas.

- "#1 Contenders, 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match": Samoa Joe vs. Sami Zayn:

First Fall: The first fall closes out with, Joe and Zayn trade punches until Joe sweeps Zayn's leg. Joe charges, but Zayn pulls down the ropes and Joe falls to the floor. Zayn hits a springboard-seated moonsault onto Joe. Back in the ring, Zayn hits a crossbody block on Joe for a near fall. Zayn goes for the blue thunder bomb, but Joe reverses it and gets a near fall. Joe is back up and lariats Zayn to the mat. Joe goes for the Muscle Buster, but Zayn counters and goes for a ropewalk arm drag. Joe counters that and plants Zayn with a uranage. Joe hits the Muscle Buster, covers Zayn and scores the pinfall, Samoa Joe goes up 1-0.

Second Fall: The second fall closes out with, Joe tossing Zayn to the floor. Zayn gets back in the ring, but Joe lands a kick sending Zayn back outside. Joe tosses Zayn into the steel steps, but is still able to avoid getting counted out. Back to the floor again and Joe hits Zayn with the STJoe right on the ramp. Zayn barely avoids another countout and hits Joe with a suplex. Joe rolls to the floor and gets taken out by a Zayn suicide dive. Back in the ring, Zayn counters a Joe charge and applies the Koji Clutch submission. Joe tries to fight it, but eventually taps out, tying the match at 1-1.

Third Fall: The third and final fall closes out with, Joe landing chops and an enziguri on Zayn. Joe unloads a series of kicks on Zayn, dropping Zayn to the mat. Zayn gets back up and applies Joe's own Coquina Clutch submission on him, but Joe makes it to the ropes for the break. Zayn hits the exploder suplex on Joe and goes for Helluva Kick. Joe dodges and traps Zayn in the Coquina Clutch submission. Zayn fights it and reaches for the ropes. Joe pulls Zayn back, traps Zayn's leg and arm and applies the pressure. Zayn refuses to tap out and instead passes out, forcing the referee to call the match. Joe wins 2-1 and will go on to face Finn Balor at NXT Takeover: Dallas during Wrestlemania 32 weekend.
Winner: Samoa Joe, 2 Falls To 1.

- This closes out this weeks NXT.

This week's Smackdown took place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Tonight's Smackdown served their go home show to this Saturday night's WWE Roadblock pay per view. Tonight's show featured Miz TV with special guests Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Brie Bella battled Summer Rae in Divas Division action. Chris Jericho explains why he turned on AJ Styles on RAW. The Lucha Dragons took on The League Of Nations in tag team action. Main event time saw an eight man tag team match with The Wyatt Family taking on Dolph Ziggler, Dean Ambrose and The Usos. 

*** Smackdown ***

- Miz TV with Special Guests Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens: Miz mentions the history between Zayn and Owens and then calls out Zayn. Miz talks about Zayn, but everyone wants to know exactly who he is. Zayn goes to talk, but Miz cuts him off and wants to know about his history with Owens. Zayn says they've been friends for 13 years, relied on each other in the wrestling business and Zayn was even Owens' best man. Miz asks why are they enemies now. Zayn honestly doesn't know, but thinks jealousy has played a part in it. Miz says there is always two sides to every story and calls out Owens. Owens says he turned on Zayn because it was best for business and for his family. It wasn't personal, but now Zayn made it personal by getting involved in his business at the Royal Rumble and on RAW. Zayn says he's beating Owens for his WWE Intercontinental Championship at Wrestlemania. Owens says that that's a joke because Zayn is a nothing. Zayn tells Owens to prove that he's a nothing. Owens calls Zayn delusional and says he's done talking. Neville suddenly interrupts and tells Owens that he better watch his back for Neville and the WWE Intercontinental Championship would look good on him too. Miz gets mad because Neville was uninvited and asks Neville and Zayn who do they think they are demanding I-C Title matches. Miz reminds us he's a 5-Time I-C champ and main evented Wrestlemania. Zayn says that's long in the past, forcing Miz to attack Zayn from behind. Zayn fights back and Miz rolls to the floor, ending the segment. 

- The Miz and Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn and Neville: This match was made official after the Miz TV altercation. The match closes out with, Zayn blasting Miz with a boot and follows with a cross body on Miz. Zayn hits a series of forearms, chops and hits a tornado DDT on Miz. Owens decides to call it quits, grabs his I-C Title and leaves. Zayn goes after Owens, but gets rolled up by Miz for a near fall. Miz hits a back elbow on Zayn, but Zayn comes back with an exploder suplex. Zayn hits the Helluva Kick on Miz and scores the pinfall. 

Winners: Sami Zayn and Neville, by pinfall. 

- Backstage, Goldust is looking for toilet paper in the bathroom. R-Truth says Golden Truth is about being there for each other and can help him out. Goldust now declines Truth's offer to be a tag team. 

- Brie Bella vs. Summer Rae: The match closes out with, Summer landing stomps on Brie. Brie comes back, hits a dropkick, a series of Yes Kicks and a running drop kick. Summer DDT's Brie, but Brie rolls Summer up for a near fall. Brie locks Summer in the Yes Lock and forces Summer to tap out. After the match, Lana mocks Brie and Summer tries to attack Brie from behind. Brie hits forearms and a running knee on Summer. Lana attacks Brie and lays Brie out with the X-Factor. Lana mocks Brie with Yes Chants. 

Winner: Brie Bella, by submission. 

- Chris Jericho Promo: Jericho says he turned on AJ Styles because the WWE Universe made Jericho feel like trash. He was ignored, disrespected and needed to remind everyone that he's still the best in the world. Jericho reminds us of his history and all the titles he's won. So now every single person that cheers for AJ Styles can go to hell. Jericho says Styles has only been here six weeks and already the WWE Universe love him. Jericho claims that Styles will be gone in three months and his career will crash and burn. Jericho says Y2AJ was special, but the fans ruined it. Jericho blames himself for working with Styles and then burns a Y2AJ shirt in a garbage can. Jericho says Y2AJ is now burning the way Styles' career will burn. Jericho mocks the fans and starts to chant for AJ Styles to end the segment. 

- The Lucha Dragons vs. The League of Nations: The match closes out with, Sin Cara hitting a springboard moonsault, but Sheamus breaks up the pinfall. Sin Cara sends Sheamus to the floor and Kalisto hits a somersault plancha on Sheamus. Sin Cara hits an enziguri on Barrett and then goes for a Swanton Bomb. Rusev interferes and shoves Sin Cara off the top rope. Barrett knocks out Sin Cara with the Bullhammer and scores the pinfall. 

Winners: The League of Nations, by pinfall. 

- Backstage, Ryback says it's obvious two little guys like the Dragons can't beat two big guys like the LON. Ryback says the little guys should be proud, however, not all men from a general and physical standpoint are created equal. 

- Backstage, The Usos talk about the Dudley Boys and how they don't respect them. Dolph Ziggler says he's expecting more repercussions from Stephanie McMahon after RAW. Dean Ambrose says he's going Wyatt hunting tonight and then becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at WWE Roadblock. 

- The Wyatt Family vs. Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and The Usos: The match closes out with, Ambrose hitting a flying elbow. Jimmy Uso hits an enziguri on Harper. Bray hits a uranage on Jimmy. Bray eats a Ziggler super kick and falls to the floor. Ziggler hits a series of super kicks on Strowman, but Strowman doesn't go down. Strowman clotheslines Ziggler. Ambrose sends Strowman into the turnbuckle. Rowan gets a near fall roll up on Ambrose. Rowan goes for a spinning heel kick, but Ambrose counters, hits Dirty Deeds and scores the pinfall. 

Winners: Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and The Usos, by pinfall. 

- This closes out this week's Smackdown.
