It's the Weekend 3 Count, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE. The W3C, brings you news and rumors going on around the wrestling world. Whether it's WWE, NXT, TNA, GFW, ROH, Lucha Underground or the independent wrestling scene, I'll talk about it.
*** WWE and NXT News ***- In case you missed Elimination Chamber, head back, read my recap and read about Ryback winning his first singles title. Ryback won the Elimination Chamber to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.
- This past Monday, right after RAW, Steve Austin had another podcast with Paul Heyman as his guest. Heyman talked about working with Austin in WCW and ECW, The Dangerous Alliance faction in WCW, whether he knew that Brock Lesnar was going to go to UFC or stay in WWE when contract talk came up, his opinion on CM Punk in UFC, the importance of cutting a good promo, meeting Vince McMahon Sr. and having a love/hate relationship with Vince McMahon Jr. The podcast closed out with a possible tease to a Austin vs. Lesnar match at Wrestlemania 32.- Paul Heyman is expected to return to WWE TV after Money In The Bank. Heyman is expected to build up Brock Lesnar's return.
- WWE officially signed Samoa Joe to a full time WWE contract. With Ring Of Honor getting a national tv spot and Joe's merchandise sales have been huge his first two weeks in NXT, WWE wanted to get Joe locked in under a full time deal.- Speaking of Samoa Joe, here is some not very good news. Joe was wrestling Tyson Kidd this past week in a dark match. Joe delivered his trademarked "Musclebuster" on Kidd, however, Kidd took the bump wrong and suffered a spinal cord injury. Kidd is expected to be out several months, rehabbing the neck injury and hoping to avoid surgery.
- WWE announced they will be showing a WWE Network only supershow on July 4th. The card is being hyped with Kevin Owens defending the NXT World Title against Finn Balor. If the current card doesn't change, we'll also see Brock Lesnar vs. Kofi Kingston, John Cena and Dolph Ziggler vs. King Barrett and Kane, Neville vs. Chris Jericho and many more matches.- NXT superstar Sami Zayn recently finished up with surgery on his shoulder. His target return might be early fall of this year.
- WWE recently signed two international superstars to the company. Triple H announced the signings of two Indian performers by the names of Lovepreet Sangha and Satender. Both men will report to the WWE Performance Center and prepare for their future NXT debut.
*** TNA News ***
- This past week on TNA Impact, Rockstar Spud, officially vacated his TNA X-Division Championship and cashed it in for a TNA World Heavyweight Championship Match, against Kurt Angle, at Destination X this coming week.
- TNA recently approached A.J. Styles about being inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame and wrestling at Slammiversary. Styles turned down the offer, due to TNA not agreeing to let Styles use his current leader of the Bullet Club faction gimmick and highlighting that he's the current NJPW World Heavyweight Champion. Reason being is NJPW has a working agreement with Ring Of Honor and TNA wants nothing to do with that.- TNA announced a new tv deal with Italy. Italy will broadcast TNA Impact, past Impact episodes and also show Slammiversary and Bound for Glory on Nuvolari TV.
*** GFW News ***- Bad news for GFW. TNA's Tyrus (George Murdoch Jr.) announced that he will not be working the Global Force Wrestling events as advertised. Tyrus stated on his Twitter that it was due to contractual obligations. Many feel that TNA President, Dixie Carter and GFW President, Jeff Jarrett, still have ill feelings toward each other, which caused the issue.
- GFW President, Jeff Jarrett, was recently asked his opinion on ROH and TNA both being on Destination America. Jarrett stated that it was great for the wrestling business to have two different shows on the same channel, cause it was like that back in the 70's and it made wrestling great.
- GFW President, Jeff Jarrett, was also asked how much of an involvement will he be on screen. Jarrett stated its about the wrestlers and not him. Expect little to no Jeff Jarrett appearances on tv or at the events in any storylines.- GFW announced by Twitter, Luke Gallows' wife, Amber "Bullet Babe" Gallows has been added to the GFW roster.
*** ROH News ***- In case you missed it, Ring Of Honor made their Destination America debut this past Wednesday.
- The debut episode of ROH brought in 163,000 viewers in their first night on Destination America.
- Destination America and ROH are currently in talks to possibly bring live televised ROH shows to the network.
