Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 9.8.16: NXT Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your NXT Recap Edition.

This week's NXT took place at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. TM61 kicked off the show this week battling Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari in tag team action. Ember Moon battled Leah Von in one on one Women's Division action. Andrade “Cien” Almas battled Austin Aries in one on one action. NXT World Champion Shinsuke Nakamura battled Steve Cutler in the main event in a non title match.

- TM61 vs. Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari: The match closes out with Thorne and Miller double teaming Nese. Nese grabs Thorne by the wrist, slides between his leg, traps Thorne's arm and hits a slam. Daivari is in, hits a super kick on Thorne, a Michinoku Driver and a near fall frog splash. Miller is in, tosses Nese to the floor and TM61 hit their double team finisher on Daivari for the pinfall.
Winners: TM61, by pinfall.  

- Asuka Interview: Earlier in the day NXT Women's Champion Asuka was interviewed. Asuka says the Brooklyn crowd was crazy, she was excited, she respects Bayley, Bayley fought hard, but Asuka fought harder. Asuka says no one on the NXT roster is ready for her and all those that went to the main roster were lucky to not have to face Asuka.

- Backstage, Steve Cutler says he's sacrificed more in his life then Shinsuke Nakamura ever has. Everyone will respect Cutler after tonight.

- Ember Moon vs. Leah Von: The match closes out with Leah landing kicks to the gut and face of Ember. Leah Irish whips Ember, but Ember counters with a near fall rollup. Ember hits a butterfly suplex and a front flip clothesline on Leah. Ember hits the O Face Stunner and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Ember Moon, by pinfall.

- Backstage, No Way Jose plans to show Bobby Roode that no one messes with him.

- Backstage, Johnny Gargano tells Tommaso Ciampa that if gets cleared by the doctors then they can have an NXT World Tag Team Championship Match against The Revival next week.

- Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Austin Aries: The match closes out with Almas hitting a super kick on Aries and goes for his running double knee. Aries charges and nails a drop kick on Almas. Almas shoves Aries off the top rope and hits a double moonsault for a near fall. Almas goes for double knees again, but Aries dodges it. Almas goes for a springboard, but Aries counters with a power bomb. Aries locks in the Last Chancery submission and Almas taps out.
Winner: Austin Aries, by submission.

- Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Steve Cutler: Samoa Joe was on commentary for this match. The match closes out with Cutler hitting a flap jack and then stomps on Nakamura. Cutler goes for a suplex, but Nakamura counters with knee strikes. Nakamura unloads a series of strikes on Cutler and then sets him on the ropes. Nakamura hits a running knee and then an inverted exploder suplex on Cutler. Nakamura finishes Cutler off with Kinshasa and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura, by pinfall.
