Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 9.22.16: NXT Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your NXT Recap Edition.

This week's NXT took place at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. We get an update on NXT World Champion Shinsuke Nakamura after he was viciously attacked last week by Samoa Joe. Austin Aries battled Oney Lorcan in a one on one match. Aliyah battled Billie Kay in one on one Women's Division action. In the main event, Cedric Alexander made his NXT debut and went one on one against Andrade “Cien” Almas.

- Samoa Joe Promo: Samoa Joe gives an update on Shinsuke Nakamura. Joe says Nakamura will be out 6-12 weeks and then demands NXT GM William Regal to either make the Joe vs. Nakamura match for right now or strip Nakamura of his championship and give the title to Joe. William Regal appears and says that what Joe has said is sadly true and he hasn't spoken to Nakamura. Regal says he's going to fix the problem Joe caused. Joe demands Regal to do the right thing or else the whole NXT locker room will end up like Nakamura.

- Backstage, Cedric Alexander says everyone that said he'd never make it gets proved wrong tonight.

- Backstage, Liv Morgan says she doesn't back down from anyone including NXT Women's Champion Asuka. Asuka appears and says let's find out if Liv is ready. 

- Austin Aries vs. Oney Lorcan: The match closes out with Lorcan hitting Aries with a roaring European uppercut and gets a near fall. Aries comes back and hits a running dropkick in the corner. Aries lifts Lorcan for a suplex, but drops Lorcan forward into a knee to the face. Aries locks Lorcan in the Last Chancery submission and forces Lorcan to tap out. After the match, Aries says he'd dare Hideo Itami to come out, but everyone knows he's too afraid to come out. Itami's music hits and Itami hits the ring. Aries escapes the ring and heads backstage.
Winner: Austin Aries, by submission.

- Aliyah vs. Billie Kay: The match closes out with Billie tossing Aliyah into the turnbuckle head first. Aliyah dodges a Billie boot and hits a neck breaker for a near fall. Aliyah irish whips Billie, but Aliyah eats a boot on the rebound. Billie covers and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Billie Kay, by pinfall.

- Cedric Alexander vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas: The match closes out with Cedric and Almas trading blows and then Cedric sets Almas on the top rope. Almas knocks Cedric off the top rope and goes for a moonsault. Almas misses but lands on his feet and then lands a standing moonsault on Cedric for a near fall. Almas charges in going for the running knees, but Cedric counters and hits the Lumbar Check for the pinfall. After the match, Cedric and Almas share a congratulatory hug.
Winner: Cedric Alexander, by pinfall.
