Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 9.6.16: RAW Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is back with this week's RAW Recap Edition. 

This week's RAW was live on Labor Day in Kansas City, Missouri. The Kevin Owens Show officially began in the WWE as Kevin Owens, with the help from Triple H, walked out of RAW last week the new WWE Universal Champion. How did Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley respond? WWE Women's Champion Charlotte battled Bayley in a one on one non title match. Bo Dallas battled up and comer Kyle Roberts. Seth Rollins battled Chris Jericho. Sheamus battled Cesaro in match three of their best of seven series. Enzo and Big Cass batted The Shining Stars in tag team action. Nia Jax battled up and comer Ann Esposito. Darren Young battled Jinder Mahal in a one on one match. Braun Strowman battled Sin Cara in one on one action. Sasha Banks returns from her injury and speaks for the first time since losing the WWE Women's Championship to Charlotte. In the main event, WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens battled Sami Zayn in a non title match.

*** RAW ***

- Backstage, Stephanie McMahon orders someone on the phone to give WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens a huge celebration tonight. Mick Foley asks why she is ok with Triple H screwing them over last week. Steph says she's embarrassed and knew nothing about what Triple H planned. Mick says he believes her or else that would make her a liar and a terrible person.

- Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley Promo: New WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens is immediately introduced. Owens comes out in a suit, ignores a Foley hand shake and thanks Stephanie for the celebration. Owens says he deserves this, but doesn't need a crowd full of idiots stealing his moment. Owens admits Triple H gave him an assist, but like it or not this is now the Kevin Owens Show. Seth Rollins interrupts, tells Owens to shut up and demands answers on the screw job from Stephanie. Rollins says he has no problem with Owens, but with Owens as the face of RAW, the company will burn to the ground. Owens calls Rollins the Architect of Failure, forcing Rollins to attack Owens. Stephanie suspends Rollins indefinitely, but Foley goes over her head and revokes the suspension. Foley says Rollins was screwed so he's going to get his redemption. At WWE Clash Of Champions it'll be Owens vs. Rollins for the WWE Universal Championship.

- Backstage, Stephanie McMahon yells at Mick Foley for going over her head. Kevin Owens interrupts and questions Foley on how Seth Rollins is being rewarded after that attack. Foley tells Owens he's fighting Sami Zayn later. Chris Jericho interrupts and says Foley is being unfair to Owens. Foley tells Jericho that he can fight Seth Rollins.

- Charlotte vs. Bayley: The match closes out with Charlotte placing Bayley on the ropes, but Bayley kicks Charlotte away. Bayley hits a diving back elbow on Charlotte, but misses a corner splash after Dana Brooke pushes Charlotte out of the way. Charlotte rolls up Bayley, but Bayley kicks out, sending Charlotte crashing into Dana, who's still on the apron. Bayley plants Charlotte with Bayley To Belly and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Bayley, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Charlotte yells at Dana Brooke for getting in the way. Dana apologizes, but gets slapped by Charlotte.

- Bo Dallas vs. Kyle Roberts: The match closes out with Bo making quick work of Roberts, hitting the Roll Of The Dice and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Bo Dallas, by pinfall.

- Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho: The match closes out with Rollins and Jericho fighting on the ropes. Rollins shoves Jericho off and misses a frog splash. Jericho gets a near fall Lionsault on Rollins. Rollins counters a Jericho clothesline, hits the Pedigree and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Seth Rollins, by pinfall.

- "Best Of Seven Series, Match #3": Sheamus vs. Cesaro: The match closes out with Sheamus working over Cesaro's back. Sheamus hits a tilt a whirl slam and lands a series of knees on Cesaro's back. Cesaro goes for a European uppercut, but his back gives out. Sheamus destroys Cesaro with four straight Irish Curse back breakers and scores the pinfall. 
Winner: Sheamus, by pinfall, taking the 3-0 lead.

- The Shining Stars vs. Enzo and Big Cass: The match closes out with Epico and Primo double teaming Enzo. Primo misses a dropkick and gets his foot caught in the ropes. Cass tags in, cleans house and takes control. Enzo tags back in, gets distracted by Primo and gets rolled up by Epico for the pinfall.
Winners: The Shining Stars, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Sami Zayn says he's a little jealous that Kevin Owens is the WWE Universal Champion. Owens interrupts and says it means that he's better than Zayn. Zayn says he'll beat Owens for the title one day and won't need Triple H's help to do it.

- Nia Jax vs. Ann Esposito: The match closes out with Ann landing kicks and applies a sleeper on Nia. Nia flips Ann off her back and then hits a series of hip splashes on Ann in the corner. Nia plants Ann with a Samoan Drop Slam and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Nia Jax, by pinfall.

- The Club Promo: Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson offer The New Day to give their retirement services. Out come New Day Impostors with grey wigs on calling themselves The Old Day. The New Day interrupts to investigate to see if The Old Day are really them when they get older. New Day hit the ring, but Gallows and Anderson escape the ring. The New Day attack and beat down The Old Day, after they try to jump Big E.

- Darren Young vs. Jinder Mahal: The match closes out with Mahal hitting a running knee on Young. Mahal charges and hits a jumping knee on Young. Young comes back and plants Mahal with the Gut Check to score the pinfall. After the match, Titus O'Neil hits the ring and goes after Bob Backlund. Young stops the attack from happening and unloads on Titus, chasing Titus off.

- Braun Strowman vs. Sin Cara: The match closes out with Sin Cara going outside and Strowman follows. Sin Cara hits a series of enziguris on Strowman. Strowman grabs Sin Cara and tosses him into the barricade. Strowman gets back in the ring and Sin Cara is counted out. After the match, Strowman continues to beat down Sin Cara.
Winner: Braun Strowman, by Countout.

- Sasha Banks Promo: Sasha says The Revolution was all about divas being called superstars and no more butterfly title. Sasha says wrestling in WWE has been her dream, she was pushed to her limit at Summer Slam and unfortunately after talking to her doctor today she has bad news. Dana Brooke suddenly interrupts, says she's finishing what Charlotte started and swings at Sasha. Sasha dodges and locks Dana in the Banks Statement submission. Sasha grabs a microphone and says the bad news is for Charlotte. At WWE Clash of Champions it'll be Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks for the WWE Women's Championship and the title is coming back to Sasha.

- Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn: The match closes out with Zayn landing wrong on his bad ankle and he rolls to the floor. Owens goes for the apron power bomb on Zayn, but Zayn counters and hits a half nelson suplex on Owens. Back to the ring, Zayn goes for the Helluva Kick, but his ankle gives out again when Zayn tries to run. Owens hits a super kick on Zayn and then the pop up power bomb to score the pinfall.
After the match, Roman Reigns arrives and Chris Jericho follows. Mick Foley arrives and announces that next Monday it'll be Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns and if Reigns wins he'll be added to the WWE Universal Championship match at WWE Clash of Champions with Seth Rollins against Kevin Owens. Owens is pissed and Jericho tries to attack Reigns, but gets speared in half to end the show. 
Winner: Kevin Owens, by pinfall.
