Leadoff with Lee 9.17.15 #Browns #Cavs #Indians #Texas

By @cleeverizon

- With Josh McCown questionable to start Sunday, the Browns have added quarterback Matt Blanchard to the practice squad. Blanchard is the third QB signed by the team in the last month. Pat Devlin was cut on September 5th & Austin Davis is in line to back up Johnny Manziel in Sunday's home opener against the Tennessee Titans.

Blanchard, an NFL journeymen quarterback, has previously played for the Chicago, Carolina and Green Bay. He has a college football record of 45-0 playing for DIII University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

- Browns outside linebacker Scott Solomon will miss 4-6 weeks with an ankle injury suffered early in the game last Sunday versus the New York Jets. Barkevious Mingo replaced Solomon in that game. Along with that, Nate Orchard missed Sunday's game with a back injury.

- It was announced yesterday that Jason Pierre-Paul is missing a portion of his thumb along with his entire index finger due to a fireworks accident in the offseason. I'm not a doctor, but it's going to be hard for him to grab or tackle anyone with that type of injury. Pierre-Paul has yet to sign his franchise tendered contract with the New York Giants.

- Former Browns nose tackle Ishmaa'ily Kitchen met with the Houston Texans on Tuesday. The Texans have just five defensive linemen on the 53 man roster and ideally want six.

- WR Terrelle Pryor worked out for the New England Patriots on Monday. The team wanted to work him out to have him on the emergency list of players just in case a injury occurs during the season.

- Texas Athletic Director Steve Patterson has been fired after 22 months on the job. Patterson met with university president Gregory Fenves Tuesday morning to discuss his termination. Patterson has a guaranteed contact until 2019 worth $1.4M annually. The terms of termination are not yet known. Terms of a contract buyout are being negotiated at this time.

- The reigning Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers will return to the court for the first action of the 2015-16 season on October 5th at 7pm as the team announced ticket information for their upcoming annual Wine and Gold Scrimmage. Free tickets will be available beginning Friday, September 18th at any Discount Drug Mart or on Cavs.com using Flash Seats. Seating will be general admission and limited to 6 tickets per transaction.

- LeBron James showed off a sneak peak of his "LeBron 13" shoes on the recent cover of Slam magazine. When released, the MSRP will be $200.00.

- Newly retired point guard Steve Nash is close to becoming a part-time consultant for the Golden State Warriors. Nash will specifically work with Golden State's guards. He spent time mentoring Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson last season. Nash also serves as the general manager of the Canadian men's basketball team.

- Carlos Carrasco has been nominated for the Roberto Clemente Award for the Cleveland Indians. Each year MLB teams with Chevrolet to give the award to a player "Who best represents the game of baseball through positive contributions on and off the field, including sportsmanship and community involvement".
