Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE. It's this week's NXT and Smackdown recap for the week.
- This week's NXT took place at NXT's home base at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida.
- Jason Jordan and Chad Gable defeated Steve Cutler and Elias Sampson by pinfall. After weeks of asking Jordan to team with him, Gable finally got his chance tonight. Jordan tosses Sampson, Gable catches Sampson and plants him with a back suplex/bridge pin combo to pick up the pinfall.
- Samoa Joe defeated Axle Tischer by submission. Joe continues to stay dominate in the early stages of his NXT run. Joe lands the S-T-Joe, picks Tischer up, hits the Muscle Buster and follows up with the rear naked choke submission, for the tap out victory.
** Still surprised Joe is using the Muscle Buster. **- We see a video package highlighting Baron Corbin's time in college and the NFL, before choosing wrestling as a career.
- Eva Marie is out with a microphone in hand. Eva announces her in ring debut with NXT next week. Eva says "All Red Everything" is coming. ** I'm not really looking forward to her debut. I hope she proves me wrong. **
- Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy (w/Alexa Bliss) defeated Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton by pinfall. Alexa causes a distraction on the apron allowing Blake and Murphy to hit the suplex/frog splash combo and score the pin. After the match, Alexa orders Blake and Murphy to do more damage. The tag champs beat down Dawkins and Fulton some more and finish off with Alexa hitting the Sparkle Splash on Dawkins.
** Blake and Murphy have had a long enough run with the tag titles. Time to drop them already. **- Sami Zayn is in the ring with a microphone in hand. Zayn has been out with a shoulder injury and isn't expected back till next year. Zayn thanks all the fans for the love and support. When he returns he's coming for Kevin Owens' ass. ** January is a long wait. **
- NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks defeated Charlotte by submission, to retain the NXT Women's Championship. Charlotte applied the Figure Eight on Sasha. Sasha fights for her life not to tap out and eventually crawls under the ropes to the floor. Charlotte refuses to release the submission and the referee steps in. Sasha gets back in the ring and gets a near fall rollup, then applies the Bank Statement out of nowhere on Charlotte. Charlotte holds on and doesn't tap and begins to roll over into a pinfall on Sasha. Sasha blocks the attempt and reapplies the pressure of the submission until Charlotte finally taps out. NXT closes out with Charlotte and Sasha very emotional and hugging each other.
** Two pure athletes, glad they made it to RAW. ***** SMACKDOWN ***
- This week's Smackdown took place in Birmingham, Alabama. Smackdown served its go home show to this Sunday's WWE Battleground pay per view. If you miss the pay per view, no worries, you can check back with Triple Threat CLE on Monday afternoon and I'll be posting Battleground results.
- Roman Reigns opened up the show and calls out Bray Wyatt. Bray appears on the titantron and makes threats to Reigns. Bray says Reigns can believe in the fans, but none of it is real. Bray demands Reigns to go home and surround himself with loved ones because he can't promise he'll leave Battleground. Reigns and Wyatt face each other one on one at WWE Battleground.
** Bray needs this win more then Reigns at WWE Battleground. But I don't see it happening. **- The New Day defeated The Lucha Dragons by pinfall, in tag team action. The Prime Time Players were on commentary for this match. Kalisto hit Solida Del Sol, but Xavier Woods interfered. Big E and Kofi Kingston hit their Big Ending combo for the pinfall. The Prime Time Players defend their WWE World Tag Team Championship this Sunday at WWE Battleground against The New Day.
- King Barrett defeated Jack Swagger by pinfall, after hitting the Bullhammer. After the match, R-Truth (King WhazzUp) appears. Truth makes jokes about Barrett and his so called current royalty. Barrett says he'll beat Truth down and make him bow to the real king. King Barrett faces R-Truth one on one with Barrett's crown on the line at WWE Battleground.
- Cesaro defeated Rusev by pinfall in a rematch from RAW. Rusev goes to the top rope, but gets hit by a Cesaro european uppercut. Cesaro plants Rusev with the Neutralizer and scores the pinfall.
** Would anyone else like to see WWE reinstate the WWE European Title, just to have these two fight over it? **- Neville defeated Stardust by pinfall in a rematch from RAW. Stardust grabs the ropes and tries to steal a pin, but the referee busts him. Stardust and the referee have words with each other, allowing Neville to score a roll up pinfall.
** Another possible surprise match at WWE Battleground maybe?? **- Backstage, Stardust attacks Neville from behind. Stardust beats Neville down, says there's turbulence in the altitude era and runs away.
** Stardust gets more bizarre each and every week. **
- Backstage, Sasha Banks, Naomi and Tamina say it's their time to take over the Divas Division. The trio officially call their faction BAD: Best At Dominating.
** I really hope the Divas Division picks up now with Charlotte, Sasha and Becky Lynch on the main roster. **- Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose defeated Sheamus and Big Show by DQ. Reigns dropped Sheamus with a Superman Punch and set up for the spear. Bray Wyatt hits the ring and attacks Reigns, causing the DQ. After the match, Reigns counters out of Sister Abigail and knocks out Bray with a Superman Punch. Reigns spears Sheamus next. Reigns and Ambrose clear the ring to close out the show.
