WWE Battleground 2015 #WWEBattleground

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you WWE Battleground! Battleground took place live at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. The main event saw Seth Rollins defending the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against "The Beast" Brock Lesnar. The co-main event saw John Cena defending the WWE United States Championship against Kevin Owens. And let's not forget about the hometown boy Randy Orton facing Mr. Money In The Bank Sheamus, one on one. All that and plenty of other action. Let's get to the WWE Battleground recap from last night's event.

*** WWE Battleground Pre-Game ***

- King Barrett defeated R-Truth by pinfall, to retain the King of the Ring Crown. The battle for King Barrett's crown was on the line to kick off the Battleground Pre-Game. Barrett and Truth went back and forth early in the match, with Truth taking Barrett down for two close pinfalls. Truth drop kicked Barrett to the floor at one point in the match and flew over the ropes, taking out the King. Barrett made a comeback with knees to the back and an elbow for a near fall. Barrett kicked Truth onto the apron and came back with another near fall. Barrett with a headlock, some forearms and a running kick to the gut for a near fall. Barrett misses a boot and eats a Truth uppercut. Truth with a boot, a clothesline and a missile drop kick for a near fall. Truth blocks Wasteland and hits Barrett with a heel kick. Truth hits a scissors kick for a near fall. Barrett counters a suplex and hits Winds Of Change on Truth for a near fall. Barrett goes for the Bullhammer, but Truth ducks and gets a near fall roll up. Truth lands a punch and goes for the Lie Detector. Barrett blocks the Lie Detector and nails the Bullhammer to score the pin.
*** Another wasted opportunity for Barrett. After losing the past two pay per view matches against Truth, how does this win even mean anything? ***

*** WWE Battleground ***

- Randy Orton defeated Sheamus by pinfall. Sheamus with a headlock and a shoulder block on Orton, to start the match. Orton fires back with an elbow sending Sheamus outside. Orton and Sheamus brawl on the floor and finish with Orton tossing Sheamus into the barricade. Orton drops Sheamus again as he tries to run away. Back in the ring, Orton lands upper cuts and Sheamus lands knees. Sheamus hits the Irish Curse Back breaker and follows with two more back breakers. Sheamus with a knee to the chest for a near fall. Orton hits a knee of his own for a near fall. Sheamus misses a corner charge and falls to the floor. Back in the ring, Sheamus and Orton unload on each other with back and forth punches. Orton with a clothesline, but Sheamus blocks the power slam. Orton blocks White Noise and clotheslines Sheamus. Orton and Sheamus brawl on the floor again, where Orton slams Sheamus on the announcers table. Back in the ring, Orton ducks the Brogue Kick and gets a near fall power slam. Sheamus unloads forearms, until Orton blocks and hits an uppercut. Sheamus hits the rolling senton and a power slam for a near fall. Orton ducks the Brogue Kick and Sheamus blocks the RKO. Orton blocks a Texas Cloverleaf submission, but gets laid out with White Noise for a near fall. Orton hits a suplex for a near fall.
Sheamus and Orton trade more shots until Orton hits a superplex off the top rope. Orton hits the hanging DDT and goes for the RKO. Sheamus counters with a near fall roll up. Sheamus hits the Brogue Kick and locks in the Texas Cloverleaf submission. Orton fights for his life not to tap, as he reaches for the ropes, but gets pulled back to the middle of the ring. Orton finally makes the ropes to break the submission. Sheamus goes for another submission attempt, but Orton hits an RKO out of nowhere to score the pin.
*** Hometown boy, Randy Orton, got the win. No surprise here. Now will Sheamus cash in later tonight? ***

- Backstage, Stephanie McMahon announces that one Diva from Team Bella, Team BAD and Team Paige will battle in a Triple Threat Match tonight. Stephanie expects big things from the Divas tonight.
*** I'm hoping for big things to get the Divas Division going again too. ***

- The Prime Time Players defeated The New Day by pinfall, to retain the WWE World Tag Team Championship. Young and Kofi start things off. Young with a neck breaker followed by a suplex for a near fall. Titus is in and gets slapped by Kofi. Titus unloads with chops and a slam. Big E is in, gets slammed by Titus, hit with a leg drop and double teamed by the PTP. Young goes crashing into the camera man and out to the floor. Kofi with a near fall on Young. Big E and Kofi double team Young next. Kofi with a near fall kick and Big E follows with a splash on Young, for another near fall. Big E with submission wrestling, an elbow and a near fall. Young dodges a Big E splash, hits an enziguri and hot tags Titus.
Titus drops Kofi, splashes Big E, sends Big E to the floor, lands back breakers on Kofi and splashes Kofi in the corner. Xavier Woods cheap shots Titus and Kofi hits a DDT for a near fall. Titus chops Kofi down, Young unloads on Big E and drops Woods off the apron. Kofi lands a kick on Young. Big E goes for the Big Ending, but Young blocks it. Kofi misses Trouble In Paradise and gets hit with Gut Check from Young. Titus hits Clash Of Titus on Big E and scores the pin.
*** Prime Time Players retain. I think The New Day may have run its course. ***

- Backstage, Paige, Becky Lynch and Charlotte put the Divas and even the WWE Superstars on notice. They're tearing the house down and then rebuilding it. Charlotte says they'll do it with "Flair".

- Bray Wyatt defeated Roman Reigns by pinfall. Bray and Reigns trade lockups, shoulders, punches and headbutts. Reigns unloads on Bray in the corner, until the referee orders him off. Bray goes out and then back in the ring, hits a punch on Reigns, lands a clothesline and punches Reigns, who's on his knees. Reigns clotheslines Bray to the floor, follows and slams Bray into the barricade. Back in the ring, Bray hits a flying forearm, chokes Reigns with the ropes and unloads on him in the corner. Reigns sends Bray outside with a samoan drop, follows and gets sent into the steel steps. Back in the ring Bray splashes Reigns, lands kicks and punches and counters a Reigns power bomb and sends Reigns to the floor. Bray drops Reigns with an apron DDT. Bray with a suplex, stomps and a splash for a near fall. Bray goes to mat wrestling on Reigns. Reigns counters a sleeper and slams Bray. Reigns unloads on Bray, goes for the flying apron kick, but gets blasted by a Bray clothesline. Bray with a senton on the floor and gets a near fall. Bray hits headbutts, punches and goes for a super plex off the ropes. Reigns counters with a sit down  power bomb for a near fall. Bray blocks a Superman Punch and Reigns blocks Sister Abigail.
Reigns lands the flying apron kick on Bray and goes for the Superman Punch. Bray counters with a near fall side slam. Reigns blocks Sister Abigail with a near fall roll up. Reigns hits the Superman Punch for a near fall. Bray counters the spear with a boot. Reigns again blocks Sister Abigail with headbutts. Bray counters a samoan drop with punches. Bray and Reigns brawl on the floor where Reigns is tossed into the barricade. Bray grabs two steel chairs, but gets dropped by a Reigns punch. Reigns tosses chairs into the ring, but suddenly gets attacked by a man in a hood. Bray hits Sister Abigail and scores the pin. The man in the hood is revealed to be Luke Harper.
*** Bray needed this win and he got it! And it looks like the Wyatt Family is reforming! ***

- Backstage, Sasha Banks announces she'll wrestle for their team tonight.

- Charlotte defeated Sasha Banks and Brie Bella by submission, in a Triple Threat Match. Brie and Sasha double team Charlotte to start the match. Sasha with a near fall roll up on Brie. Charlotte with a near fall roll up on Sasha. Sasha gets dropped and Charlotte and Brie go at it. Sasha hits the knee in the corner on Charlotte and Brie and gets near falls. Sasha unloads on Charlotte, drops Brie again and gets a near fall. Sasha mocks Ric Flair with the Flair strut, but almost gets pinned by a Charlotte roll up.
Sasha with running knees on Charlotte and a near fall, as Brie breaks up the pin. Brie and Sasha trade shots. Charlotte hits a double clothesline and unloads Flair chops. Charlotte hits a neck breaker and a knee to Sasha's mouth for a near fall. Brie with a double bulldog for a near fall. Brie unloads kicks. Brie gets taken out by Sasha and Sasha gets a near fall roll up on Charlotte.
Sasha drops Charlotte on her neck for a near fall. Brie hits a top rope missile drop kick, then running knees on both. Sasha blocks a second running knee and dumps Brie on the floor. Sasha takes out Team Bella then dives onto Brie, Paige and Becky Lynch. Charlotte dives onto Tamina, Naomi and Sasha. Back in the ring, Sasha applies the Bank Statement submission on Charlotte. Brie breaks it up and tosses Sasha into the ring post. Charlotte grabs Brie and applies the Figure Eight submission. Brie has no choice but to tap out.
*** Great match by the Divas, hope this continues. ***

- John Cena defeated Kevin Owens by submission, to retain the WWE United States Championship. Quick lockup early until Owens unloads on Cena. Owens hits a modified neck breaker for a near fall. Cena hits a shoulder, but Owens fires back and gets a near fall. Cena flies off the top rope with the leg drop for a near fall. Owens counters AA with a DDT for a near fall. Cena goes into Super Cena mode and hits shoulders, the slam and goes for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Owens rolls away and punches Cena. Owens with a senton, but Cena gets the knees up. Owens blocks the AA and does Cena's shoulders, big slam and the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Owens goes for AA, but Cena is out and slams Owens. Cena applies the STF submission. Owens escapes and gets a near fall with a knee on the back. Cena and Owens trade punches.
Cena with the springboard stunner, but Owens catches him, hits a german suplex and the cannonball for a near fall. Cena hits a flip power bomb for a near fall. Cena flies off the top rope with the leg drop, but Owens catches him and hits a sit down power bomb for a near fall. Cena hits the AA on Owens for a near fall. Owens counters a superplex with his own for a near fall. Cena looks to have injured his arm on the landing. Cena counters the pop up power bomb, but Owens hits the AA and locks Cena in the STF submission. Cena reaches the ropes to escape. Cena hits a tornado DDT for a near fall. Cena hits the springboard stunner, but Owens comes back with a clothesline.
Owens drops Cena on his knee for another near fall. Cena counters the pop up power bomb with the AA and gets another near fall. Owens hits the pop up power bomb on the next attempt and gets a near fall. Owens goes up top, but Cena meets him there and hits a Super AA for another near fall. Owens with a rollup on a weak Cena for a near fall. Cena out of nowhere applies the STF. Owens crawls to the ropes, but Cena pulls him back to the middle of the ring. Owens tries to fight it as Cena applies the pressure. Owens taps out and the match is over.
*** Wow, another 5-Star Match! Bummed Owens didn't win though. Hope this leads to him eventually winning the United States Championship in the future. ***

- The Miz is in the ring with a microphone in hand. Miz had plans to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship tonight, but Ryback was injured and now it's postponed. Considers Ryback a big pansy, who's probably not injured, he would've beat Ryback cause he's the toughest guy in the WWE. Miz takes shots at Big Show, demanding him to retire and demands The Authority to announce Miz as the new WWE Intercontinental Champion. Big Show arrives and heads to the ring. Show doesn't say a word as Miz rambles off at the mouth. Show finally lays out Miz with the Knockout Punch and leaves the ring.
*** Does anyone else not really care about these three feuding, like me? ***

- Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar go to a no contest, Seth Rollins retains the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The bell sounds and Lesnar unloads shoulder thrusts. Rollins retreats out to the floor. Lesnar goes for a german suplex, but Rollins lands a back kick. Lesnar catches Rollins mid-air and goes for the F-5, but Rollins escaped. Rollins leaps off the top rope, Lesnar catches, hits a german suplex and follows with a second german suplex. It's Suplex City time as Lesnar hits number three, four and five on german suplexes. Rollins rolls to the floor, grabs his title and starts to exit through the crowd.
Lesnar leaps over the barricade and throws Rollins back into the ring where Lesnar hits german suplex number six. Rollins counters another german suplex and goes to work on Lesnar's legs, landing kicks. Rollins lands kicks to the legs and head of Lesnar. Rollins goes for the Pedigree, but Lesnar counters into the F-5 and Rollins counters out and lands more blows to the legs. Rollins sends Lesnar to the floor and hits a suicide dive twice on Lesnar. Rollins goes for a third, but Lesnar belly to belly suplexes Rollins.
Lesnar hits german suplex number seven through thirteen, all while slapping Rollins. Lesnar goes for the F-5, but the lights go out in the arena and we hear Undertaker's bell toll. The lights are back up and Taker is in the ring with Lesnar. Taker hits a choke slam and follows with a Tombstone piledriver on Lesnar. Taker lands one more Tombstone, before posing for the fans to end Battleground.
*** I'm thinking WWE could have came up with a better ending than this. Not at all happy or impressed with this match. Again, Rollins was made to look like a joke of a champion the way this ended. ***
