WWE Extreme Rules Preview #ExtremeRules

By Brandon Albright, @B_Rock1978

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE brings you the WWE Extreme Rules preview.

WWE Extreme Rules is live at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. All the major WWE Championships will be on the line at the event, as WWE takes things to the Extreme!

- "WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Extreme Rules Match": Roman Reigns (c) vs. AJ Styles: Roman Reigns and AJ Styles met at WWE Payback at the beginning of May and had a pretty good match. So good that Vince, Shane and Stephanie McMahon all agreed to keep AJ Styles as the #1 Contender and give him another shot at Roman Reigns and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This time, however, it'll be an Extreme Rules Match. Styles came up short and lost to Reigns at WWE Payback, but Styles is now guaranteeing that he'll leave WWE Extreme Rules as the new champion. Will Styles make true to his words and defeat Reigns? Will Reigns stop Styles' momentum again and retain the championship. And what about Styles' friends Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson? With this match now being Extreme Rules, will we see the former Bullet Club members help out Styles?

- "WWE Intercontinental Championship, Fatal Four Way Match": The Miz (c) vs. Cesaro vs. Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn: Owens, Miz, Cesaro and Zayn have spent the whole month of May fighting over who deserves a shot at The Miz and the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Owens and Cesaro had a #1 contenders match, however, Miz interrupted the match and caused it to get thrown out. Zayn defeated Miz in a non-title match which also escalated into all four brawling and Zayn feeling that he deserved to be the #1 contender. Shane and Stephanie McMahon finally announced originally a triple threat match between Owens, Cesaro and The Miz, but Zayn went on to defeat Miz again in a non-title match and officially made it a fatal four way match. Can The Miz survive his three opponents? Or will we see a new champion crowned?

- "WWE United States Championship Match": Kalisto (c) vs. Rusev: Kalisto was again successful in retaining his WWE United States Championship against Ryback at WWE Payback. Now the Mexican superstar must do battle with mother Russia. Rusev became the #1 contender to the WWE United States Championship after winning a #1 contenders battle royal on RAW. Rusev knows how it feels to be the U.S. Champion, as he held the title successfully for four and a half months and terrorized the United States while holding it. Can Kalisto hold onto the championship and stop the Bulgarian Beast? Will Rusev become a 2-Time WWE United States Champion and hold the United States again in the palm of his hand?

- "WWE World Tag Team Championship Match": The New Day (c) vs. The Vaudevillains: The Vaudevillains faced off with Enzo and Big Cass at WWE Payback to determine a new #1 contender to the WWE World Tag Team Championship. An in ring accident, however, cost Enzo and Big Cass their opportunity, as Enzo suffered a concussion. With Enzo and Big Cass out of the picture at the moment, WWE announced The Vaudevillains as the #1 contenders to the tag team Championship. Can The Vaudevillains, the masters of old school wrestling, defeat The New Day and become the new champions? Will the fun loving, trombone playing, booty o cereal eating, dancing and tweaking trio, The New Day, retain their titles and continue their impressive nine month run as tag team champions?

- "WWE Women's Championship, Submission Match" (Ric Flair Is Banned From Ringside): Charlotte (c) vs. Nattie Neidhart: At WWE Payback, Charlotte defeated Nattie Neidhart to retain the title by pulling a screw job on Nattie. Referee Charles Robinson rang the bell and said Nattie gave up when in fact she never did. Nattie accused Ric Flair of paying off Robinson and helping Charlotte retain, due to their friendship together. Nattie was granted a rematch at WWE Extreme Rules against Charlotte, for the WWE Women's Championship, in a Submission Match. Stephanie McMahon also attempted to even the playing field more for Nattie by banning Ric Flair from ringside. Can Charlotte finally win a match without Flair in her corner? Will Nattie defeat Charlotte and prove to the world that Charlotte can't win on her own without Flair?

- "Asylum Match": Dean Ambrose vs. Chris Jericho: Back at WWE Payback, Ambrose defeated Jericho in a one on one match and proved that he was better than Jericho. The feud between these two escalated as Jericho got Stephanie to cancel Ambrose's Ambrose Asylum show and bring back The Highlight Reel. Jericho destroyed the Ambrose Asylum set and beat Ambrose down. Ambrose responded by attacking Jericho from behind and destroying Jericho's light bright jacket worth $15,000. Jericho would then return the favor by tying Ambrose in a straight jacket and beating Ambrose down. Ambrose went on to challenge Jericho to a match at WWE Extreme Rules, which Jericho gladly accepted. Ambrose, however, without Jericho knowing got Shane McMahon to approve a first ever Asylum Match for their stipulation. An Asylum Match will be Ambrose and Jericho locked inside a steel cage with a various amount of weapons to choose from to use on each other and the only way to win is by pinfall or submission. Will the self proclaimed best in the world survive? Will the WWE's resident lunatic finally end Y2J?

- "Texas Tornado Tag Team Match": The Usos vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson: Since The Club's Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson debuted last month, they've been targeting Roman Reigns' cousins The Usos in their crusade to help AJ Styles win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The Club defeated The Usos in their RAW debut match, but The Usos returned the favor last week and defeated The Club in tag team action. Both teams get another shot at each other at WWE Extreme Rules in a Texas Tornado Match, where there are no tags, anything goes and the only way to win is by pinfall or submission. Can The Club accomplish step one in ending Roman Reigns' family, setting up Styles to beat Reigns later in the evening? Will The Usos prove that the family bond is stronger and defeat The Club?

- "No DQ Match": Dolph Ziggler vs. Baron Corbin: Baron Corbin has been in a heated feud with Dolph Ziggler since debuting on the main roster. Ziggler defeated Corbin at WWE Payback, but then Corbin returned the favor and defeated Ziggler on an episode of RAW. Ziggler and Corbin will meet again in a No DQ Match to try to finally settle their differences on the Pre Show.
