Wrestling Lockup with Brandon: Why John Cena Should Win The WWE United States Championship

By @B_Rock1978

As WWE Fast Lane gets closer to airing live on WWE Network for only $9.99........wait hold up......it's free this month! Anyway as I was saying, as WWE Fast Lane gets closer to airing this month, there is one match that I'm curious about. John Cena vs. Rusev. Why am I curious about it? Because I'm curious as to whether or not WWE will have Rusev defend the WWE United States Championship against John Cena. John Cena has been the staple in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Division for the past eight to ten years and currently is only two world title wins away from dethroning the "Nature Boy" Ric Flair's sixteen world championship record. So why would WWE want to drop Cena back into the mid card? Here me out, this could be a good thing for WWE.

Here's how I would book the current United States Championship Division. Rusev faces Cena at WWE Fast Lane, which is already on like Donkey Kong. This match we'll leave as a non-title match. John Cena has already been pushed clear past the moon, so a clean loss here against Rusev wouldn't take away Cena's credibility. Heck, they could even do a "Stone Cold" on Cena. Have Rusev lock Cena in "The Accolade" and have Cena pass out from the pain. Then you have Rusev with a strong, clean win on Cena and Cena is still holding his credibility because he never gave up. Tension continues to rise as Rusev now has a victory over Cena and Cena wants revenge. Cena not only wants to avenge his loss to Rusev but wants to win one for America and bring the WWE United States Championship back. This would eventually set up their rematch at Wrestlemania 31 (which WWE has already stated we'd probably get another Rusev/Cena match here).

Wrestlemania 31 arrives and we get our second John Cena vs. Rusev match, this time it's for the WWE United States Championship. Since we're going to have Rusev lose this one, this is where WWE needs to focus on Rusev and helping him keep his credibility. We can't have Cena doing a squash match on Rusev. WWE needs to focus on Rusev dominating Cena for most of the match, with Cena getting in a limited offense. Have Rusev lock Cena in "The Accolade" at one point and build it to where Cena may pass out again, but Cena just makes it to the ropes for the break. Build up more Rusev offense and finish it off with Cena again getting locked in "The Accolade". But this time Cena powers up and lifts Rusev up on his shoulders. An "AA" and three seconds later, John Cena is the new WWE United States Champion. Cena gives Rusev his first loss by pinfall, avenges his loss at Fast Lane, wins one for America and Rusev still looks like a credible beast.

John Cena is now the WWE United States Champion and this can really open the door for new feuds. Just imagine the up and comers of NXT like Adrian Neville, Sami Zayn, Finn Balor or Kevin Owens gunning for Cena. Or the guys still trying to make a name for themselves like Bad News Barrett, Cesaro, Damien Sandow, or Dean Ambrose targeting Cena. You have the true face of the WWE, John Cena, helping build up the mid card talent and defending the WWE United States Championship like a fighting champion. John Cena has been the go to guy for the past eight to ten years for the company. Cena now more then ever really needs to be the go to guy to build the talent for the WWE's future. And I'm sure Vince McMahon and Triple H would sweeten the pot for Cena by offering World Title reign number 15 and 16 in 2016 if he spends 2015 building the mid card talent. And if you go back and look at past wrestlers, Sting for example, Sting constantly went back and forth between the World Title Division, TV Title Division and U.S. Title Division in WCW and Sting is considered an ICON and future WWE Hall of Famer.

So if Cena is now defending the WWE United States Championship, where does that put the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? It opens a whole new world of talent that can now shine in the main event with Cena stepping aside for the moment. Guys like Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, Dolph Ziggler and Ryback all can have a chance at shining in the spotlight. I personally want to see a Shield Triple Threat Match. Reigns, Rollins and Ambrose with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line. Daniel Bryan could have great feuds with Ambrose, Rollins and Ziggler for the title. Dolph Ziggler could play this generations Shawn Michaels and steal the show in every world title match. Even Bray Wyatt could be an interesting world champion in his bizarre world. I could see up and comers, Kevin Owens and Finn Balor, being a world champion one day in the company as well.

Now I'm not a John Cena hater, but he's also not one of my favorites. I have a huge amount of respect for Cena with everything he's done for the fans. I really think this would be a great way for the WWE to rebuild a crumbled mid-card division that hasn't been the same since the late 90's early 2000's. This I think is.......what's best for business.
