Wrestling Lockup with Brandon: NXT & Smackdown

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your NXT Recap Edition.

This week's NXT took place at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. NXT Women's Champion, Asuka, went one on one with "All Red Everything" Eva Marie in a non-title match. The crowning of a new NXT World Champion happened last week at a house show. NXT highlights showed who and how it happened. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder battled Jeff Parker and Matt Lee in tag team action and then send a warning to the NXT tag division. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy battled The Hype Bros. in tag team action. Back into the Women's Division, Carmella battled newcomer Aliyah one on one. Main event time saw the Japanese sensation, Shinsuke Nakamura battle Elias Samson one on one.

*** NXT ***

- Asuka vs. Eva Marie: The match closes out with Asuka landing a drop kick on Eva.  Asuka unloads a fury of kicks on Eva right in the chest. Eva dodges a head kick and takes down Asuka. Eva misses a running senton splash and catches a shining wizard from Asuka. Asuka measures and destroys Eva with a kick to the head to score the pinfall. After the match, Nia Jax and Asuka have a stare down with each other.
Winner: Asuka, by pinfall.

- NXT World Title, House Show Highlights, Finn Balor (c) vs. Samoa Joe: Balor looked to have been injured in the match after hitting a diving drop kick. NXT medical check on Balor at one point. Samoa Joe goes on to hit the Muscle Buster on Balor, scores the pinfall and wins the championship.
Winner: Samoa Joe, by pinfall, to win the NXT World Title.

- Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder vs. Jeff Parker and Matt Lee: The match closes out with Dawson and Wilder owning Parker and Lee. Wilder and Dawson land a power bomb/clothesline combo on Parker. Lee tags in and gets destroyed with Wilder and Dawson's double team finisher to score the pinfall. After the match, Wilder and Dawson continue to beat down Parker and Lee and announce that until they get back their NXT World Tag Team Championship, every tag team in NXT have been put on notice.
Winners: Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson, by pinfall.

- The Hype Bros vs. Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy: Blake and Murphy injure Ryder's knee with a chop block and work it over. The match closes out with Ryder able to hobble over to tag Rawley, who destroys Murphy with a shoulder block. Ryder and Rawley hit their Hype Ryder double team finisher on Blake and score the pinfall. After the match, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder hit the ring and beat down Rawley and Ryder, proving like they said, no NXT tag team is safe.
Winners: The Hype Bros., by pinfall.

- Carmella vs. Aliyah: The match closes out with Aliyah landing a top rope leg drop on Carmella for a near fall. Carmella lands a Lou Thesz press on Aliyah and then lands a hurricanrana. Carmella hits the Bronco Buster and then locks in the leg scissor submission. Aliyah has no choice but to tap out.
Winner: Carmella, by submission.

- Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Elias Samson: The match closes out with Samson hitting a snap suplex and then applies a side headlock. Nakamura escapes, hits a double enziguri on Samson and then sets Samson on the top rope. Nakamura hits the running knee on Samson and follows up with the exploder suplex. Nakamura drills Samson with the Kinshasa and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura, by pinfall.

- That closes out this week's NXT.

This week's Smackdown took place in Manchester, New Hampshire. Tonight, Smackdown served its go home show to this Sunday's WWE Payback pay per view. Sami Zayn, Cesaro and WWE United States Champion, Kalisto, teamed up and battled the League of Nations in six man tag team action. Baron Corbin faced Damian Sandow in one on one action. The Ambrose Asylum returned with special guests, Nattie Neidhart, WWE Women's Champion, Charlotte and Ric Flair. Enzo and Big Cass battled The Social Outcasts in tag team action. Apollo Crews battled Stardust in a rematch from RAW. Main event time saw WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Roman Reigns, battle WWE Intercontinental Champion, The Miz, one on one.

*** Smackdown ***

- Roman Reigns Promo: Reigns still doesn't believe that AJ Styles isn't involved with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Reigns respects everything Styles has done in the business, but Styles isn't fooling anyone. Reigns calls out Styles, but gets The Miz and Maryse instead. Miz says he was the first one that pointed out Styles, Anderson and Gallows were in cahoots together and when it gets revealed, Reigns will lose his WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Miz wants recognition for it and makes out with Maryse. Reigns punches Miz and then clotheslines Miz to the floor.

- Backstage, The League of Nations state that they have been stronger than any three man team since kicking out King Barrett. Rusev says they are so strong now that they should be called the United Nations.

- "Six Man Tag Team Match": Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Kalisto vs. The League of Nations: Rusev and Sheamus argue over who's starting the match. Later in the match, Rusev force tags in and he and Del Rio have a shoving fight with each other. All three League of Nations members begin to shove each other until Del Rio walks out. A few minutes later, Rusev had enough of Sheamus and walks out too. The match closes out with Cesaro landing a running european uppercut on Sheamus and a near fall cross body. Cesaro unloads a series of uppercuts on Sheamus and then lands a drop kick. Cesaro goes for the Cesaro Swing, but Sheamus blocks it by grabbing the ropes. Sheamus rolls to the floor and walks out, taking the count out loss.
Winners: Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Kalisto, by count out.

- Backstage, Sheamus, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio begin brawling with each other, officially ending the League of Nations faction.

- Baron Corbin vs. Damien Sandow: The match closes out with Sandow trying to get in some punches on Corbin, but gets caught with a Corbin elbow. Corbin sends Sandow neck first into the ropes and then plants Sandow with End Of Days for the easy pinfall.
Winner: Baron Corbin, by pinfall.

- Backstage, AJ Styles says he doesn't care what Roman Reigns thinks, after Sunday Reigns won't be calling Styles a liar anymore, instead Reigns will be calling Styles champ.

- Ambrose Asylum, with Special Guests, Nattie Neidhart, Charlotte and Ric Flair: Before beginning his talk show, Ambrose promises vengeance on Chris Jericho this Sunday and says Jericho made a huge mistake by letting Ambrose escape the Walls Of Jericho. Ambrose introduces Nattie Neidhart first. Ambrose mentions Nattie making Charlotte tap out a few weeks ago, but Ric Flair's distraction cost Nattie the championship. Nattie says this Sunday will be no different and she'll have her uncle, Bret Hart, at ringside to keep an eye on Ric Flair. Charlotte and Flair interrupt and think it's funny that Nattie has to have her sick uncle in her corner. Charlotte reminds us of Flair's accomplishments in the business and calls him a coach. Nattie calls Flair a lying, cheating and creepy old man. Nattie says Flair helps Charlotte cheat cause deep down he knows Charlotte isn't that great and if he thinks he's getting involved on Sunday, Uncle Bret will be there to stop him. Flair says he isn't scared of Bret, cause he beat him in WWE and in WCW. Nattie says this Sunday it's time for a new era in the Women's Division and the WWE Universe will get a champion that they deserve.

- Enzo and Big Cass vs. The Social Outcasts: The New Day were on commentary for this match. The Vaudevillains also appeared and scouted from the Smackdown stage. The match closes out with Cass hitting a corner splash, an Empire Elbow and a spinning side slam on Curtis Axel. Enzo tags in and he and Cass hit the double team Rocket Launcher and score the pinfall. After the match, The Vaudevillains applaud Enzo and Cass' win. Cass says after Payback, The Vaudevillains will be SAWFT.
Winners: Enzo and Big Cass, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Goldust wants to tag with R-Truth and form the Golden Truth. Truth didn't forget Goldust teaming with Fandango a few weeks back and forming Gold-Dango. Truth went out and got Tyler Breeze to team with him and they will be called the Gorgeous Truth.

- Apollo Crews vs. Stardust: The match closes out with Crews landing a pump handle slam on Stardust for a near fall. Stardust targets Crews' knee with a drop kick. Crews comes back and unloads a series of enziguri's on Stardust. Crews plants Stardust with the Apollo Bomb and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Apollo Crews, by pinfall.

- Roman Reigns vs. The Miz: The match closes out with Reigns kicking Miz, hitting a flying lariat and ten corner clotheslines Miz. Reigns goes for the Superman Punch, but Maryse pulls Miz to the floor. Miz goes after Reigns' knee and gets a near fall inverted DDT. Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Reigns unloads back elbows and then hits the spear on Miz to score the pinfall. After the match, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson hit the ring and beat down Reigns. Gallows sends Reigns into the steel steps and Anderson lands a big boot. The Usos hit the ring and brawl with Gallows and Anderson. Jimmy Uso kicks Anderson as AJ Styles tries to step in. Jimmy punches Styles and then Uso kicks Gallows. Styles hits an enziguri on Jimmy, but misses the Phenomenal Forearm. Gallows clotheslines Jimmy to the floor then argues with Styles. Reigns spears Gallows and Styles goes for the Styles Clash on Reigns. Reigns counters and goes for the Superman Punch, but Styles escapes to the floor. Reigns and Styles have a stare down to end Smackdown.
Winner: Roman Reigns, by pinfall.
