Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 1.5.16: #RAW Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is back with the RAW recap edition. First off, Happy New Year to all our fans of Triple Threat CLE. Hope everyone accomplishes their goals and dreams that they have set for themselves in 2016. I myself have a new job on the horizon for the new year and there may be some changes to the wrestling recap days coming soon. I'll keep everyone posted and promise to continue to bring recaps from all the major promotions. Now on to this weeks RAW Recap Edition, the first of 2016.

This week's RAW was live in San Antonio, Texas. The man himself, Vincent Kennedy McMahon, returned to try to take away the WWE World Heavyweight Championship from Roman Reigns. How would he attempt to pull this off? Force Reigns to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Sheamus and Vince appointed himself as the Special Guest Referee. Will Mr. McMahon's master plan work, or will Reigns survive to defend the title another day?

- Stephanie McMahon Promo: Stephanie makes her way to the ring, but is immediately cut off by Roman Reigns' music, as Reigns heads to the ring from the crowd. Reigns tells Stephanie that tonight it's not about her, it's about her dad and demands Vince McMahon to get down to the ring now. Stephanie says Reigns will have to wait cause Vince hasn't arrived yet. Stephanie tells Reigns that he and the WWE Universe are sad and pathetic, she's still his boss, once he loses the WWE World Heavyweight Championship tonight she's going to use him the same way Vince used Reigns' dad. Reigns threatens Stephanie and says if anyone screws him tonight then Stephanie will be picking her father up from the hospital.

- Kevin Owens vs. Neville: Owens works over Neville's taped ribs throughout the match. The match closes out with, Neville landing a drop kick and following with a 450 Splash on Owens for a near fall. Owens traps Neville in a tree of woe and hits a huge corner cannonball. Owens plants Neville with the pop up power bomb and scores the pinfall. After the match, Owens continues his assault on Neville, until Dean Ambrose hits the ring. Owens plants a super kick on Ambrose, but Ambrose returns and sends Owens into the steel steps. Ambrose lays Owens on the announcers table and hits the flying elbow drop, putting Owens through the table.
Winner: Kevin Owens, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Vince McMahon arrives and states that he broke the law last week. This week.....he's the law.

- Stardust vs. Titus O'Neil: The match closes out with Stardust getting a near fall Disaster Kick. Stardust applies a rear chin lock, but Titus escapes. Titus lands a clothesline on Stardust, hits a corner splash and plants Stardust with Clash Of Titus for the pinfall.
Winner: Titus O’Neil, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Charlotte asks Becky Lynch if she asked for their one on one match tonight. Becky denies knowing anything about it.

- Charlotte (w/Ric Flair) vs. Becky Lynch: The match closes out with, Charlotte catching Becky mid air, but Becky reverses into a sleeper hold. Charlotte escapes with a chin buster. Becky misses a kick and Charlotte lands a big boot for a near fall. Ric Flair gets involved, grabbing Becky's foot. Charlotte rolls Becky up during the distraction, but Becky reverses into her own rollup, pulls Charlotte's tights and scores the pinfall. After the match, Charlotte is livid that Becky cheated, attacks her and leaves Becky laid out.
Winner: Becky Lynch, by pinfall.

- Ryback vs. Big Show: The match closes out with, Big Show missing a corner splash and Ryback hitting a running Meat Hook. Show hits a choke slam on Ryback and tosses him to the floor. The lights are out in the arena and pop back on, revealing The Wyatt Family. The Wyatts attack Ryback and beat the "Big Guy" down, as Show looks on and takes the DQ loss. After the match, The Wyatts surround and beat down Big Show, leaving the giant laid out as well. The Wyatts announce they will all be in the Royal Rumble and they will all fall down.
Winner: Ryback, by DQ.

- Rusev and Alberto Del Rio vs. The Usos: The match closes out with, Jimmy hitting the Rikishi Splash for a near fall. Del Rio with an arm DDT, but eats an Uso Kick from Jimmy. Jimmy goes top rope, but gets shoved into the tree of woe by Del Rio. Jimmy dodges the double foot stomp, Uso Kicks Del Rio and Jey follows with the Uso Splash. Rusev breaks up the pinfall attempt. Jey goes to the ropes but gets caught in the tree of woe position and Del Rio hits the double stomp for the pinfall.
Winners: Rusev and Alberto Del Rio, by pinfall.

- Dolph Ziggler vs. Heath Slater (w/Bo Dallas, Adam Rose and Curtis Axel): The match closes out with, Ziggler hitting a neck breaker on Slater. Slater lands a running knee on Ziggler, but misses an elbow drop. Ziggler hits a DDT on Slater, but gets distracted by Dallas and Rose. Slater rolls up Ziggler and scores the pinfall. After the match, Slater says he and his new friends are tired of being held down, it's now time to stand up. Slater calls his faction the Social Outcasts.
Winner: Heath Slater, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Vince McMahon gives Roman Reigns the pre-fight instructions. Reigns stares down McMahon.

- The New Day Promo: The New Day have a present for the WWE Universe and they count down to it on the TitanTron. Half way through the countdown it changes to Chris Jericho's countdown clock, the lights go out and Jericho's music hits. Jericho appears and says he's here to save the WWE. The New Day claim to have already saved the WWE. Jericho calls The New Day assclowns, tells them to shut up and officially announces he's entering the Royal Rumble.

- "Six Man Tag Team Match": The New Day vs. Kalisto and The Dudley Boys: The match closes out with, New Day beating down Kalisto, until Kalisto tags in Devon. Devon hits a running shoulder, a neck breaker and a spine buster. Bubba tags in unloads on New Day and hits a Bubba Bomb. Big E catches Kalisto and tosses him into the barricade. Devon gets knocked off the top rope during Whazz Up and gets planted with the New Day double team finisher for the pinfall.
Winners: The New Day, by pinfall.

- "WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match": Roman Reigns (c) vs. Sheamus (w/Mr. McMahon as Special Guest Referee): Vince tries to fast count Reigns right away at the opening of the match. Sheamus continues to get the fast counts from Vince throughout the match. Reigns gets hit in the face with the steel steps by Sheamus and Vince let's the match continue. The match closes out with Reigns hitting the jumping apron drop kick and a Samoan Drop on Sheamus. Reigns covers, but gets a very slow count by Vince and Sheamus kicks out. Reigns power bombs Sheamus and covers, but Vince can't count cause he lost his contact lens out of his eye. Sheamus rolls up Reigns and gets a near fall fast count from Vince. Reigns hits the Superman Punch on Sheamus and covers, but gets no count from Vince.
Reigns had enough and Superman Punches Vince, knocking out the chairman. Reigns spears Sheamus, hits another jumping apron drop kick and tosses Sheamus over the announcers table. Stephanie McMahon heads to the ring as Vince is getting back up. Reigns shoves Vince into Stephanie and both McMahon's go down. Sheamus hits two Brogue Kicks on Reigns and covers. Crooked Authority referee, Scott Armstrong, hits the ring and counts, but Reigns kicks out. Reigns gets back up, hits the Superman Punch on Armstrong and Sheamus both. Reigns covers Sheamus, a legit referee hits the ring, counts and Reigns scores the pinfall to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
After the match, a livid Vince McMahon announces that Roman Reigns will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Royal Rumble against 29 other men in the Royal Rumble.
Winner: Roman Reigns, by pinfall, to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

This closes out this weeks RAW.
