Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 1.22.16: #NXT & #SmackDown

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your NXT Recap Edition.

This week's NXT took place back at their home base of Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. Sami Zayn battled Adam Rose one on one. Johnny Gargano calls out Samoa Joe. Apollo Crews throws out a challenge to NXT World Champion Finn Balor. Women's tag team action also took place with NXT Women's Champion Bayley and #1 Contender Carmella teaming together.

*** NXT ***

- Sami Zayn vs. Adam Rose: The match closes out with, Rose tossing Zayn off the top rope. Rose goes to the top rope and hits a diving head butt on Zayn and gets a near fall. Rose swings at Zayn as Zayn gets back to his feet. Zayn counters and locks Rose in a Koji Clutch submission, forcing Rose to tap out.
Winner: Sami Zayn, by submission.

- Backstage, Johnny Gargano says Samoa Joe doesn’t intimidate him and he's going to punch Joe in the mouth.

- Backstage, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable challenge Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy to a match next week.

- Apollo Crews vs. Tye Dillinger: The match closes out with, Dillinger hitting a flying clothesline to the floor on Crews. Dillinger hits his finisher on Crews, but Crews kicks out. Crews kicks Dillinger in the face and then spears the hell out of Dillinger. Crews hits an enzuguri and the Apollo Bomb for the pinfall. After the match, Apollo challenges Finn Balor to a one on one non-title match.
Winner: Apollo Crews, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Alexa Bliss humiliates and mocks Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy for losing at NXT Takeover: London.

- Baron Corbin vs. Rich Swann: The match closes out with, Corbin landing a back body drop on Swann. Swann is back up, lands a head scissor take down and plants a super kick on Corbin. Swann goes after Corbin, but walks right into End of Days, giving Corbin the pinfall.
Winner: Baron Corbin, by pinfall.

- Bayley and Carmella vs. Emma and Alexa Bliss: The match closes out with, Emma hitting the Emma-Mite Sandwich for a near fall on Bayley. Emma lands a double underhook suplex for another near fall on Bayley. Carmella finally hot tags in and cleans house on Emma and Alexa. Carmella takes down Alexa and applies her leg scissor submission, forcing Alexa to tap out.
Winners: Bayley and Carmella, by submission.

- Backstage, Finn Balor accepts Apollo Crews' challenge.

- Samoa Joe vs. Johnny Gargano: The match closes out with, Gargano almost getting counted out after Joe booted Gargano out. Joe hits his combo, but Gargano catches Joe with a springboard DDT. Joe lands a kick right to Gargano's chest and applies the Coquina Clutch submission, forcing Gargano to tap out.
Winner: Samoa Joe, by submission.

*** Smackdown ***

This week's Smackdown took place in Dayton, Ohio. Tonight's show was the go home show to this Sunday's Royal Rumble event. The New Day competed in a six man tag team match against The Usos and Dolph Ziggler. Becky Lynch warmed up for her match against Charlotte at Royal Rumble. Miz TV returned with Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens as guests. Roman Reigns competes in a handicap match against the League of Nations in what could be his last Smackdown as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

- Chris Jericho Promo: Jericho hypes up the Royal Rumble, talks about big things happening every time he returns, claims to be the savior of the WWE and the next WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The New Day arrive and interrupt Jericho. New Day state that they are still in mourning over Francesca the Trombone, it's shameful to think Jericho is a savior, it's shameful that Jericho has no remorse and doesn't care what he did. Woods demands Jericho to bow his head for a moment of silence. Jericho calls New Day ridiculous for mourning an instrument, can't get over how stupid the unicorn head bands look, but it's ok cause New Day can be unicorns and are still rooty tooty booty. The New Day go after Jericho, but he reminds them they have a six man tag tonight, so he'll send the unicorn jabroni's over the rainbow some other time.

- "Six Man Tag Team Match": The Usos and Dolph Ziggler vs. The New Day: The match closes out with, Ziggler hitting the Famasser on Woods, but Woods comes back and tosses Ziggler to the floor. Jey hits a Uso Kick and a Samoan Drop on Woods. Jimmy hits an enziguri on Kofi and then suicide dives to the floor onto Kofi and Big E. Ziggler and The Usos hit a triple team super kick on Woods and score the pinfall.
Winners: The Usos and Dolph Ziggler, by pinfall.

- Becky Lynch vs. Alicia Fox: The match closes out with, Becky unloading a series of clotheslines and a roundhouse to Alicia. Alicia plants a knee into Becky and goes for a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Becky counters and locks Alicia in the Dis-Arm-Her submission and forces Alicia to tap out.
Winner: Becky Lynch, by submission.

- Miz TV With Special Guests: Dean Ambrose and Kevin Owens: Miz goes over the Last Man Standing Match rules. Ambrose interrupts, Miz explains when Ambrose needs to not talk and Ambrose threatens to punch Miz to make him not talk. Ambrose takes over the show and runs down a list of things he can do and use on Kevin Owens in their match at Royal Rumble. Kevin Owens interrupts and says whatever Ambrose has planned means nothing, because Owens is obsessed with getting back the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Ambrose says that they can fight now and not wait till Sunday. The Miz suddenly attacks Ambrose from behind and tells Owens to join in. Owens hits the ring, but pop up power bombs Miz. Owens and Ambrose brawl until Owens finally rolls to the floor and retreats. Ambrose gives Miz Dirty Deeds as Owens looks on.

- Ryback vs. Bray Wyatt: The match closes out with, Ryback getting a near fall spine buster. Ryback hits Bray with the Meat Hook and goes for the Shell Shock. Harper and Rowan jump on the apron and distract the referee. Strowman grabs Ryback, drags him outside and tosses him into the steel steps. Back in the ring, Bray plants Sister Abigail on Ryback and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Bray Wyatt, by pinfall.

- Stardust vs. Titus O’Neil: The match closes out with, Titus hitting two shoulder blocks, a boot and the Gator Splash on Stardust. Stardust comes back with a DDT and gets a near fall. Stardust goes to the top rope, but Titus counters the attack with Clash Of The Titus to score the pinfall.

- Backstage, Kalisto compares Alberto Del Rio to some of Mexico's greatest wrestlers, says that he may be small, but guarantees winning back the WWE United States Championship. Del Rio interrupts and calls Kalisto a fluke and he means nothing to Del Rio. The League of Nations all attack Kalisto from behind and leave Kalisto laid out.

- "Handicap Match": Roman Reigns vs. The League of Nations: The match closes out with, Reigns going for the Superman Punch, but the whole LON attack Reigns and take the DQ. After the match, Rusev super kicks Reigns and goes for The Accolade. The Usos hit the ring and make the save, but eventually get taken down. Sheamus hits a Brouge Kick on Jimmy. Reigns comes back and hits a Superman Punch on Rusev, then spears Sheamus. The Wyatt Family appear and Reigns unloads on Rowan and Strowman. Reigns tosses Rowan and Harper to the floor, but gets tossed by Strowman.
Rowan lands a roundhouse on Reigns and tosses Reigns back in the ring. Strowman locks Reigns in the Bear Hug/Sleeper submission and then hands off a half conscious Reigns to Bray. Bray plants Reigns with Sister Abigail and demands us to follow the buzzards as he poses over Reigns.
Winner: Roman Reigns, by DQ.

- This ended this weeks Smackdown.
