This week's NXT took place back at their home base of Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. NXT came off a very successful United Kingdom Tour awhile back, which included their NXT Takeover: London pay per view. NXT is finally back to kick off 2016. What new feuds will begin the new year?*** NXT ***
- Sami Zayn Promo: Zayn is happy to be home at Full Sail after the UK tour, he reminds us that he is one of the corner stones of NXT and wants to become the only 2-Time NXT World Champion. Samoa Joe interrupts Zayn and heads to the ring. Joe can't figure out how Zayn even deserves a title shot. Baron Corbin appears next and agrees with Joe, but also feels Joe doesn't deserve another shot either and considers himself the uncrowned NXT World Champion. Joe says Corbin lost brain cells when Joe choked him out in Brooklyn, Corbin doesn't belong in the conversation and tells Zayn to know his place. Corbin attacks Zayn from behind as Joe steps away. Zayn hits a Helluva Kick on Corbin and turns toward Joe. Joe thought about attacking, but retreated.
- Backstage, Bayley talks about barely surviving against Nia Jax, is happy to still be NXT Women's Champion and might hug whoever wins tonight's #1 Contenders Battle Royal.

- Tommaso Ciampa vs. Danny Birch: The match closes out with, Ciampa unloading a series of elbows on Birch and then drops Birch with a front face DDT. Ciampa misses a running knee in the corner and Birch lands a stiff kick on Ciampa. Ciampa and Birch trade back and forth strikes until Ciampa applies a modified arm bar, forcing Birch to tap out.
Winner: Tommaso Ciampa, by submission.
- Backstage, Enzo and Big Cass want another shot at The Mechanics and the NXT World Tag Team Championship.
- Backstage, NXT GM William Regal says there will be a triple threat match in two weeks between Sami Zayn, Samoa Joe and Baron Corbin to determine a new #1 Contender to the NXT World Title
- Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson vs. The Ascension: The match closes out with, Konnor tagging in and laying out Dash and Dawson. Konnor goes for a back body drop, but Dawson flips through and plants Konnor with the pop up chest buster. Dawson covers and scores the pinfall.
Winners: Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson, by pinfall.
- Backstage, NXT GM William Regal is informed that Nia Jax can't compete tonight, due to injury. Eva Marie who's smiling the whole time says she'll win the battle royal for them both.
- Elias Samson vs. Cory Hollis: The match closes out with, Samson making short work of Hollis. Samson lands a kick and nails a swinging neck breaker for the pinfall.
Winner: Elias Samson, by pinfall.
- "#1 Contenders, Women's Battle Royal Match": The match closes out with, Emma, Alexa Bliss, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Asuka, Eva Marie and Carmella left in the ring. Emma dumps Alexa to the floor. Peyton and Billie work over Emma, until Asuka kicks Emma in the head and eliminates her. Asuka hits her rear end attack and dumps Peyton and Billie to the floor. Eva sneaks in behind Asuka and dumps out Asuka. Carmella pulls the same stunt on Eva and dumps Eva to the floor to become the new #1 Contender. After the match, Bayley comes to the ring and hugs her best friend Carmella.
Winner: Carmella, to become #1 Contender to the NXT Women's Championship.

This week's Smackdown took place in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Dean Ambrose/Kevin Owens feud heats up as we find out the stipulation to their WWE Intercontinental Championship Match at the Royal Rumble. Kalisto walked out of RAW the new WWE United States Champion on Monday, but now must grant Alberto Del Rio his rematch. Becky Lynch lays down a Royal Rumble challenge to WWE Divas Champion Charlotte.

- Backstage, Dean Ambrose arrives and says he's heading to the ring to call out Kevin Owens.
- Dean Ambrose Promo: Ambrose gets to the ring and calls out Kevin Owens, but Owens no shows. Ambrose says that since Owens won't come out he has an announcement. If Owens wants a shot at winning back the WWE Intercontinental Championship, than he has to face Ambrose in a Last Man Standing Match at the Royal Rumble. Sheamus arrives for the interruption. Sheamus likes the fire in Ambrose, but thinks Ambrose is being annoying, is acting like a kid and lives in a fantasy world. Sheamus talks about Roman Reigns next, getting back the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and wanting the opportunity to take out Reigns' best friend Dean Ambrose. Ambrose tells Sheamus to quit talking and get in the ring. Sheamus starts to head to the ring when Kevin Owens finally arrives. Owens accepts Ambrose's challenge and guarantees getting back the I-C Title. Owens and Sheamus attack and double team Ambrose. Neville hits the ring for the save and helps Ambrose clean house.
- "Tables Match": The Dudley Boys vs. The Wyatt Family: The match closes out with, Bubba grabbing a kendo stick and unloads on Strowman. Bubba sends Strowman into the ring post, then Rowan into the steel steps. Harper goes for a suplex on Devon through a table, but Bubba intercepts and shoves Harper off Devon and through a table at ringside, for the victory. After the match, Strowman attacks both Dudley Boys. Strowman sends Devon through two tables in the ring. Harper and Rowan double choke slam Bubba through two tables outside the ring.
Winners: The Dudley Boys- Backstage, Kalisto mentions Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio being his idols and all he needed was one opportunity to win the WWE United States Championship.
- "Eight Man Tag Team Match": The Social Outcasts vs. Jack Swagger, Zack Ryder, Goldust and Damien Sandow: The match closes out with, Sandow and Curtis Axel brawling on the floor. Ryder tags in and hits a running forearm on Bo Dallas and sends all the outcasts to the floor. Ryder hits the Broski Boot on Dallas as Adam Rose distracts the referee. During the distraction Heath Slater lands a punch on Ryder, allowing Dallas to hit the Bo-Dog for the pinfall.
Winners: The Social Outcasts, by pinfall. - Backstage, Alberto Del Rio says Kalisto will be brought back to reality tonight, get crushed like a mosquito and Del Rio guarantees getting back the WWE United States Championship.
- "WWE United States Championship Match": Kalisto (c) vs. Alberto Del Rio: The match closes out with, Kalisto hitting a jaw breaker on Del Rio. Del Rio gets Kalisto set up for an Electric Chair Drop, but Kalisto counters out and lands an enziguri. Kalisto goes for Salida Del Sol, but King Barrett distracts Kalisto. Del Rio applies the Cross Arm Breaker submission, but Kalisto reaches the bottom rope. Kalisto sends Del Rio to the floor and goes for a plancha.
As Kalisto flies, Barrett pushes Del Rio out of the way, causing Kalisto to crash on the floor. Del Rio rolls Kalisto back into the ring, locks on the Cross Arm Breaker submission, applies the pressure and forces Kalisto to tap out. Del Rio regains the WWE United States Championship.
Winner: Alberto Del Rio, by submission, to win the WWE United States Championship. - Backstage, Becky Lynch says this whole issue with Charlotte has fired her up. Becky challenges Charlotte for her WWE Divas Championship and Royal Rumble.
- Brie Bella vs. Becky Lynch: The match closes out with, Becky hitting a ton of offense with a series of uppercuts, a couple clotheslines, a dropkick, a running forearm, a spring board side kick and a exploder suplex for a near fall. Brie comes back with a near fall rollup on Becky. Brie goes for the Bella Buster, but Becky counters and locks on the Dis-Arm-Her submission and forces Brie to tap out.
Winner: Becky Lynch, by submission. - Kevin Owens and Sheamus vs. Dean Ambrose and Neville: The match closes out with Ambrose hitting a forearm on Owens and goes for the rebound lariat. Owens counters and lands a super kick on Ambrose. Sheamus plants Ambrose with White Noise for a near fall. Owens is back in and goes for the pop up power bomb. Ambrose counters and hits the rebound lariat. Sheamus grabs Ambrose and tosses him into the ring post. Sheamus and Owens 2-On-1 attack Ambrose and the referee calls a DQ. Neville comes to the rescue with a flying plancha and takes out Owens and Sheamus. Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds on Owens and Neville follows with Red Arrow.
Winners: Dean Ambrose and Neville, by DQ. - This ends this weeks Smackdown
