Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 10.27.16: NXT Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your NXT Recap Edition.

This week's NXT took place at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. The Second Annual Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Tournament Classic finished it's first round matches this week. Aliyah battled Billie Kay one on one. Tye Dillinger battled Noah Potjes one on one. NXT Women's Champion Asuka battled Thea Trinidad in a one on one non title match.

- "Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Tournament Classic Match": DIY (Ciampa and Gargano) vs. HoHo Lun and Tian Bing: The match closes out with Gargano ducking a kick and hits one of his own. Gargano hot tags Ciampa and Ciampa cleans house. Lun counters a power bomb, but Gargano makes the blind tag and spears Lun. Gargano and Ciampa hit their double team finisher and score the pinfall to advance to the Final Eight.
Winners: Ciampa and Gargano, by pinfall, to advance to the Final Eight.

- Backstage, TJ Perkins and Kota Ibushi state that they respect each other and it all started at the Cruiserweight Classic Tournament.

- Backstage, Samoa Joe says he didn't retreat from Shinsuke Nakamura last week, he was just testing him. Joe now knows that Nakamura is a scared NXT World Champion looking over his shoulder.

- Aliyah vs. Billie Kay: Peyton Royce was in Billie Kay's corner. The match closes out with Aliyah unloading on Billie and hits an enziguri. Liv Morgan shows up at ringside and goes after Peyton Royce, distracting Billie. Aliyah rolls up Billie from behind and scores the pinfall. After the match, all four ladies brawl around ringside. Billie and Peyton finally leave Aliyah and Liv laid out.
Winner: Aliyah, by pinfall.

- Tye Dillinger vs. Noah Potjes: The match closes out with Potjes in control and puts Dillinger in the corner. Dillinger returns fire and begins stomping on Potjes. Dillinger hits the Tye Breaker on Potjes and scores the pinfall. After the match, Dillinger attempts to do an interview, but gets jumped from behind by Bobby Roode. Roode lays out Dillinger with a Glorious Bomb right on the NXT stage.
Winner: Tye Dillinger, by pinfall.

- Backstage, TM-61 hype themselves up as being mighty and the mighty don't kneel.

- Asuka vs. Thea Trinidad: The match closes out with Asuka taking control with a series of kicks. Thea tries to get in some offense, but Asuka hits a German suplex and floats over into the Asuka Lock submission. Thea has no choice but to tap out to the champ. After the match, NXT GM William Regal arrives and announces that at NXT Takeover: Toronto, Asuka will battle the returning Mickie James.
Winner: Asuka, by submission.

- Backstage, Paul Ellering says the Authors of Pain's strategy is completed and will be executed.

- Backstage with Paul Ellering giving a pep talk to his team the Authors of Pain. Ellering says their puzzle has been completed and they have a strategy, and the AOP will execute that strategy.

- "Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Tournament Classic Match": Mustafa Ali and Lince Dorado vs. TJ Perkins and Kota Ibushi: The match closes out with Ali hitting a neck breaker and applies a neck submission on Perkins. Perkins escapes and lands a face buster on Ali. Ibushi tags in and hits a double pele kick on Dorado and Ali. Perkins tags back in and gets a near fall frog splash. Perkins goes for the knee bar submission on Dorado, but almost gets caught in a pinfall. Perkins catches Ali in the knee bar submission after Ali tags in. Ali taps out immediately.
Winners: TJ Perkins and Kota Ibushi, by submission, to advance to the Final Eight.
