Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 10.19.16: SmackDown Live Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your Smackdown Live Recap Edition.  

This week's Smackdown Live took place in Denver, Colorado. Randy Orton battled Luke Harper, continuing his feud with Bray Wyatt. #1 Contender Alexa Bliss battled Naomi. Curt Hawkins finally made his Smackdown Live debut as he battled Apollo Crews. Heath Slater, Rhyno and Dolph Ziggler battled The Miz and The Spirit Squad in a six man tag team match. Jack Swagger battled Baron Corbin. WWE World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles defends the title against James Ellsworth.

- Backstage, James Ellsworth is getting ready for his WWE World Heavyweight Championship match tonight. Dean Ambrose shows up with a t-shirt for Ellsworth and hypes him up.

- Randy Orton Promo: Orton says the evil that runs in Bray Wyatt is hard to escape, he feels like he's losing his mind, that's a problem, but a bigger problem for Bray. Orton says he's coming for vengeance on Bray. The feed cuts to the backstage area where Bray is laying in a casket. Bray says he's coming after Orton and will take Orton on a journey where he'll gasp for his last breath. Luke Harper then appears and makes his way to the ring for his match with Orton.

- Randy Orton vs. Luke Harper: Bray Wyatt's music hits and men in sheep masks appear, rolling Bray out to the ring in the casket. The match closes out with Harper hitting s gator roll on Orton for a near fall. Bray opens the casket lid and Harper tries to throw Orton in the casket. Orton counters and goes to throw Harper in the casket. Bray finally hits the ring and helps Harper beat down Orton causing the DQ. After the match, Bray lifts the casket lid, but Kane is inside and rises up. Kane unloads on Bray and Harper with punches. Orton hits the draping DDT on Bray and Kane hits the top rope clothesline on Harper. The lights go out and The Wyatt Family disappears.
Winner: Randy Orton, by DQ.

- Backstage, AJ Styles knows that Dean Ambrose is going to try to embarrass him tonight. Styles says James Ellsworth winning the title will be as bad as that time when David Arquette won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. Styles promises to take Ambrose apart if he interferes and costs him the title tonight.

- Alexa Bliss vs. Naomi: The match closes out with Naomi unloading offense on Alexa. Naomi hits a split legged moonsault on Alexa and gets a near fall. Naomi goes to the top rope, but Alexa makes the stop and sends Naomi to the mat. Alexa hits Twisted Bliss on Naomi and scores the pinfall. After the match, Alexa promises to take the WWE Smackdown Live Women's Championship from Becky Lynch on November 8th.
Winner: Alexa Bliss, by pinfall.

- Apollo Crews vs. Curt Hawkins: Before the match, Hawkins cuts a promo and says that after he wins tonight Apollo will have to change his name to Apollo Lose. Crews decks Hawkins to the mat. Hawkins says Crews just cost the fans the opportunity to see him wrestle tonight, their match is off. Hawkins storms off and leaves.
Winner: No Contest

- Carmella Promo: Carmella arrives and begins mocking Nikki Bella and her current career. Nikki Bella arrives and goes face to face with Carmella. Nikki and Carmella trade insults and mock each other. Carmella backs off and leaves before anything physical happens.

- "Six Man Tag Team Match": Heath Slater, Rhyno and Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz and The Spirit Squad: The match closes out with Miz tagging in, but gets dropped with a Ziggler super kick. Kenny and Slater tag in and a six man brawl breaks out. Rhyno destroys Mikey with the Gore as Ziggler and Miz brawl. Miz gets a cheap shot in on Slater, allowing Kenny to roll Slater up for the pinfall.
Winners: The Miz and The Spirit Squad, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Nattie Neidhart asks Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan is she can lead the women's team in the Survivor Series Elimination Match.

- Jack Swagger vs. Baron Corbin: The match closes out with Corbin making quick work of Swagger. Corbin plants a series of elbows on Swagger, plants a knee to Swagger's head and then hits End Of Days for the pinfall.
Winner: Baron Corbin, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Dean Ambrose interrupts Daniel Bryan and he has a referee shirt on. Ambrose says he's going to call the title match tonight right down the middle. Bryan says he's not the referee tonight, but he can be a commentator, timekeeper or the ring announcer. Ambrose says that's what he'll do than, but doesn't pick one.

- "WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match": AJ Styles (c) vs. James Ellsworth: Dean Ambrose comes out as the ring announcer. Ambrose then goes to the time keeper table and rings the bell repeatedly, distracting Styles. Ambrose again gets on the microphone and distracts Styles. The match closes out with Styles hitting Ellsworth with a superplex, but Ambrose distracts Styles again. Styles and Ambrose take turns throw Ellsworth in and out of the ring. Ellsworth hits a super kick on Styles and gets a near fall. Styles traps Ellsworth in the corner and unloads on him. Ambrose continues to irritate Styles on the microphone, forcing Styles to continue to unload on Ellsworth. The referee calls for the bell and DQ's Styles. After the match, Ambrose goes to announce Ellsworth the winner, but Styles goes after Ambrose. Ambrose lays out Styles with Dirty Deeds and announces Ellsworth as the man that has more wins on Styles than John Cena.
Winner: James Ellsworth, by DQ.
