Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 7.1.16: SmackDown Results #Smackdown

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your Smackdown Recap Edition.  

This week's Smackdown took place in Miami, Florida. Cesaro, Alberto Del Rio, Rusev and Sheamus battled in a fatal four way match to determine a number one contender to Rusev and the WWE United States Championship. The winner immediately faced Rusev after the fatal four way match. Billie Kay from NXT made her main roster debut and battled Dana Brooke. The Miz returned with Miz TV with special guest Dean Ambrose. Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan had a tune up match against two local wrestlers. Sasha Banks battled Summer Rae in one on one Women's Division action. In the main event, it was a champion vs. champion match, as WWE World Champion Dean Ambrose battled WWE Intercontinental Champion The Miz.

*** Smackdown ***

- Cesaro Promo: Cesaro arrives in an escalade and is bringing an uppercut party for Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus and Apollo Crews tonight. Afterward Cesaro will let Rusev swing by and he'll defeat him for the WWE United States Championship. Apollo Crews interrupts and says he's just happy to get a chance at earning his first title shot. Sheamus interrupts and is very happy that Crews is in this match so he can take Crews out once and for all. Alberto Del Rio interrupts and predicts he's winning their fatal four way and he'll go on to take out his former League of Nations partner Rusev.

- "Fatal Four Way Match, To Crown A #1 Contender To The WWE United States Championship": Cesaro vs. Sheamus vs. Apollo Crews vs. Alberto Del Rio: The match closes out with Cesaro unloading the uppercut party to all three men. Sheamus lands a tilt a whirl slam and a European uppercut on Crews. Crews takes himself and Sheamus to the floor with a cross body block. Del Rio goes for the cross arm breaker submission, but Cesaro counters with the Cesaro Swing. Cesaro stops and locks Del Rio in the Sharpshooter submission and makes Del Rio tap out. After the match, Del Rio viciously attacks Cesaro. Del Rio sends Cesaro into the steel steps and then hits the double foot stomp on Cesaro. Cesaro is hurt as Rusev arrives for the WWE United States Championship Match.
Winner: Cesaro, by submission, to become #1 Contender to the WWE United States Championship.

- "WWE United States Championship Match": Rusev (c) vs. Cesaro: Rusev talks Cesaro into having their match now. The match closes out with Cesaro countering a Rusev axe kick and unloads uppercuts and a clothesline for a near fall. Cesaro goes for The Neutralizer, but Rusev counters with a knee strike to the ribs. Rusev goes for The Accolade submission, but Cesaro counters with a Sharpshooter submission. Rusev escapes and hits an enziguri on Cesaro. Rusev locks in The Accolade submission and makes Cesaro tap out. 
Winner: Rusev, by submission, to retain the WWE United States Championship.

- Backstage, Rusev says he feels great and is the greatest WWE United States Champion ever. Rusev says Independence Day should be renamed Rusev Day. Rusev then says he's taking RAW off and taking Lana to a luxurious island. Rusev is informed that on RAW Independence Day, he's not off, he's defending the WWE United States Championship against Titus O'Neil.

- Dana Brooke vs. Billie Kay: The match closes out with Billie hitting forearms, a flying head scissor and a discus punch to Dana. Dana hits a jaw breaker on Billie then a Samoan Driver for the pinfall.
Winner: Dana Brooke, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Sasha Banks says she's not impressed with Dana Brooke, Sasha is the real deal in the division, Sasha knows Charlotte better than anyone and Sasha will be the next WWE Women's Champion. Summer Rae interrupts and says the locker room is sick of Sasha and her "The Boss" thing. Summer hopes that on July 19th Sasha is drafted to a different brand. Sasha says tonight she's showing Summer what happens when you disrespect the boss.

- Miz TV with Special Guest, Dean Ambrose: Miz says with the draft coming up this could be the last Miz TV on Smackdown. Before Miz can continue Dean Ambrose interrupts while eating a sandwich. Ambrose hypes his WWE World Title defense at WWE Battleground, asks Miz how filming Maroon 5 went and mentions being in the talk show business. Miz says Mitch the plant was the only great thing about Ambrose Asylum. Miz and Ambrose argue over who's better and who's talk show is better. Miz calls Ambrose a joke of a world champion. Ambrose smears his sandwich on Miz's jacket. Maryse grabs the jacket and throws it at Ambrose. During the distraction, Miz lays Ambrose out with a boot. 

- Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan vs. Local Independent Wrestlers: The Wyatt Family make quick work and score the pinfall. After the match, The New Day appear on the screen. Kofi asks Bray Wyatt what he fears. Big E says he bets that it is soap and women with big ol booties. New Day make dick jokes about Bray and then tell him to keep his sheep in the barn. Bray thinks it's funny how everything is a joke to New Day, but the devil calls out to Xavier Woods, New Day should start praying and run.
Winners: The Wyatt Family, by pinfall.

- Sasha Banks vs. Summer Rae: The match closes out with Sasha trapping Summer in the tree of woe, but misses a double stomp, as Summer rolls to the apron. Summer gets a near fall DDT on Sasha. Sasha sends Summer into the turnbuckles and hits a double foot stomp. Sasha traps Summer in the Banks Statement submission and makes Summer tap out.
Winner: Sasha Banks, by submission.

- "Champion vs. Champion Match": Dean Ambrose vs. The Miz: The match closes out with Ambrose tossing Miz over the ropes and to the floor. Ambrose hits the suicide dive and takes Miz out. Back to the ring, Miz capitalizes and hits Ambrose with the Skull Crushing Finale for a near fall. Ambrose gets a near fall rollup on Miz. Miz hits the corner clothesline on Ambrose. Miz goes for a flying double axe handle, but Ambrose counters, plants Miz with Dirty Deeds and scores the pinfall to end this week's Smackdown.
Winner: Dean Ambrose, by pinfall
