WWE Battleground 2016 Results #WWEBattleground

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE is here with your WWE Battleground recap. WWE Battleground took place in our nation's capital, Washington D.C., live at the Verizon Center. WWE Battleground was the last pay per view with the roster together as one, as the Brand Extension and roster split officially begins this week on RAW. Without further adieu let's get to last nights recap.

*** WWE Battleground Pre-Show ***

- Backstage, RAW General Manager Mick Foley and Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan answer questions involving their goals with running their shows, pushing talent and keeping management out of the spotlight.

- The Usos vs. Fandango and Tyler Breeze: The match closes out with Jimmy hitting a Samoan Drop on Fandango and Breeze. Jimmy hits the Rikishi Splash on Fandango, but eats a Super Model Kick by Breeze for a near fall. Jimmy knocks Breeze off the apron and The Usos have Fandango set up in a Doomsday Device. Breeze stops the move from happening, but Breeze gets taken out by a Jimmy cross body block. Jimmy goes up top for the Uso Splash, but Fandango distracts Jimmy. Jey hits a suicide dive on Fandango as Jimmy flies with the Uso Splash onto Breeze. Breeze blocks it, however, by putting his knees up. Breeze grabs Jimmy and small packages him for the pinfall.
Winners: Fandango and Tyler Breeze, by pinfall.

*** WWE Battleground 2016 ***

- Charlotte and Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks and ????: Just who did Sasha Banks bring in as her mystery partner in her feud against Charlotte and Dana? Ladies and gentlemen it's former NXT Women's Champion......BAYLEY!! The match closes out with Dana and Bayley double clothes lining each other and both tagging out to Charlotte and Sasha. Sasha gets hot, hits a series of drop kicks on Charlotte, ties Charlotte in a tree of woe and gets a near fall double foot stomp. Sasha knocks Dana off the apron, hits a crossbody on Charlotte and then goes for a Backstabber.
Charlotte blocks it and gets a near fall on Sasha with Natural Selection. Sasha traps Charlotte in the Banks Statement submission, but Dana puts Charlotte's foot on the rope for the break. Bayley comes in outta nowhere and drop kicks Dana. Charlotte helps Dana and nails a forearm on Bayley. Sasha saves Bayley and traps Charlotte in the Banks Statement again. This time Charlotte has no choice but to tap out.
Winners: Sasha Banks and Bayley, by submission.

- "Six Man Tag Team Match": The New Day vs. The Wyatt Family: The match closes out with a brawl breaking out. Strowman nails Woods in the chest with a clubbing forearm. Rowan hits a back breaker on Big E. Kofi flies and hits a sunset plancha on Strowman. Big E hits an elbow on Rowan, but Rowan sends Big E into the outside ring post. Kofi is in and sends Rowan into the turnbuckle, where Bray tags himself in. Bray goes for Sister Abigail on Kofi, but Woods makes the save. Kofi takes out Bray with a crossbody, but Bray returns with a side slam on Kofi. Woods unloads punches on Bray, hits a drop kick on Bray and then unloads punches on Strowman, who's on the apron. Big E charges in and spears Strowman to the floor as Bray suddenly pops up and does the spider walk. Woods gets distracted watching Bray spider walk towards him. Bray suddenly pops up, lays out Woods with Sister Abigail and scores the pinfall.
Winners: The Wyatt Family, by pinfall.

- "WWE United States Championship Match": Rusev (c) vs. Zack Ryder: The match closes out with Rusev landing a knee to Ryder's gut. Ryder hits a neck breaker and a running boot on Rusev. Rusev rolls outside and sends Ryder into the barricade back first and then chest first. Ryder hits a drop kick on Rusev and then a Rough Ryder. Ryder goes for the El-Brow, but Rusev gets a knee up for the block. Rusev hits the thrust kick on Ryder and locks in The Accolade submission. Ryder tries to escape, but Rusev bridges back the hold and applies the pressure on Ryder. Ryder can't fight it any more and taps out. After the match, Mojo Rawley hits the ring and goes after Rusev. Rusev escapes the ring and refuses to fight Mojo.
Winner: Rusev, by submission, to retain the WWE United States Championship.

- "One Final Match": Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn: The match closes out with Zayn and Owens destroying each other with punches. Zayn goes for the tornado DDT dive through the ropes, but Owens counters with a super kick. Owens hits a cannonball on Zayn and follows that with a frog splash for a near fall. Zayn hits a tornado DDT, but Owens responds with another super kick. Owens goes for the pop up power bomb, but Zayn counters and hits two half nelson suplexes on Owens. Owens counters the Helluva Kick and plants Zayn with the pop up power bomb, but Zayn kicks out at two and a half. Owens slaps Zayn in the face. Zayn responds with a dragon suplex on Owens. Zayn hits two back to back Helluva Kicks on Owens and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Sami Zayn, by pinfall.

- Nattie Neidhart vs. Becky Lynch: The match closes out with Nattie working on Becky's knee and slapping Becky in the face. Becky hits a series of forearms on Nattie, an enziguri, a couple clotheslines, a back elbow, a forearm and a exploder suplex for a near fall on Nattie. Nattie goes for the Sharpshooter submission, but Becky counters and locks in the Dis-Arm-Her submission. Nattie escapes and traps Becky in the Sharpshooter submission. Becky escapes and hits a drop kick on Nattie. Becky unloads punches on Nattie, but Nattie goes right back after Becky's knee. Nattie locks Becky in the Sharpshooter submission, but Becky fights it and goes for the ropes. Nattie drags Becky into the middle of the ring reapplies the Sharpshooter submission and finally forces Becky to tap out.
Winner: Nattie Neidhart, by submission.

- "WWE Intercontinental Championship Match": The Miz (c) vs. Darren Young: The match closes out with Miz landing a knee to the gut of Young. Young lands a series of punches on Miz and blocks a Miz back slide attempt. Young gets a near fall back slide, then gets booted in the face by Miz. Miz lands a couple stomps, but Young charges and hits a lariat on Miz. Young unloads a series of chops on Miz, a belly to belly suplex and a back breaker on the apron for a near fall. Miz escapes the Cross Face Chicken Wing submission and rolls outside. Miz tries to walk out, but gets cut off by Bob Backlund. Maryse slaps Backlund, forcing Backlund to get fired up and rips his shirt off. Miz shoves Backlund, but gets caught from behind in the Cross Face Chicken Wing by Young. The referee counts to 10 and both Miz and Young are counted out.
Winner: Double Countout. Miz retains the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

- "Six Man Tag Team Match": John Cena, Enzo and Big Cass vs. The Club: The match closes out with Anderson dropping Enzo with a spine buster. Cass hits a fallaway slam on Anderson, but gets a sit out power bomb from Gallows.  Enzo accidentally takes out Cena with a cross body. Styles accidentally hits Gallows with the Phenomenal Forearm. Cena hits the AA on Styles for a near fall. Anderson plants Cena with a spine buster on the announcers table. Styles hits the Styles Clash on Cena for a near fall. Cass plants a running boot on Styles. Anderson and Gallows hit Magic Killer on Cass. Anderson gets sent into the ring post by Enzo, but Enzo gets hit with a Gallows super kick. Cena dodges a charging Gallows and then crotches Styles on the top turnbuckle. Cena clotheslines Gallows to the floor and hits a Super AA off the top rope on Styles to score the pinfall.
Winners: John Cena, Enzo and Big Cass, by pinfall.

- The Highlight Reel with Special Guest Randy Orton: Orton says he's been at home the past 9 months recovering and spending time with his wife. Jericho says Orton should be thanking Jericho for being on the Highlight Reel. Orton says he's in a good mood and it's best not to provoke him. Jericho makes fun of the RKO Outta Nowhere and says he might give Orton a Code Breaker Outta Nowhere. Jericho praises RAW commissioner Stephanie McMahon and says he wants to give Orton the gift of Jericho to help him battle Brock Lesnar at Summer Slam. Jericho plays a video package about Lesnar, says Lesnar is a destructive force, talks about how Orton and Lesnar started out in the OVW and wants to know why Orton wants to fight Lesnar.
Orton says fighting Lesnar would be an epic return. Jericho says Lesnar will take Orton to Suplex City. Orton says it only takes one RKO to send you to Viperville. Jericho calls Orton a stupid idiot and dares Orton to take him to Viperville. Orton plants Jericho with the RKO and leaves Jericho laid out.

- "WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Triple Threat Match": Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns: The match closes out with Reigns landing a boot on Rollins. Reigns goes outside and gets taken out by an Ambrose suicide dive. Rollins flies out next and hits a somersault plancha on Reigns. Ambrose and Rollins join forces for a split second and power bomb Reigns through the announcers table together. Rollins grabs a steel chair and hits Ambrose and Reigns. Rollins goes for the Buckle Bomb on Ambrose, but Ambrose counters with a hurricanrana. Rollins is back up and lands a superplex into a falcon arrow on Ambrose for a near fall.
Rollins goes for the Pedigree, but Ambrose counters and sends Rollins into the ropes. Reigns is back in and power bombs Ambrose. Reigns then hits a sit out power bomb on Rollins for a near fall. Ambrose with a near fall back slide on Reigns. Reigns counters the Ambrose rebound clothesline and nails the Superman Punch. Rollins hits the Pedigree on Reigns for a near fall.
Rollins goes for the Buckle Bomb on Reigns, but Reigns counters, nails the Superman Punch and then hits a spear on Rollins. Ambrose comes outta nowhere and hits Dirty Deeds on Reigns and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Dean Ambrose, by pinfall, to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
