WWE Battleground Preview #WWEBattleground

By Brandon Albright, @B_Rock1978

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you the WWE Battleground 2016 preview. WWE Battleground, which is the fourth pay per view under this name, takes place live at the Verizon Center in our nation's capital of Washington D.C. This will also be the first pay per view to take place after the Brand Extension and WWE Draft. The event will be live on WWE Network, Sunday at 8pm. Of course if you miss the show, be sure to check out Triple Threat CLE on Monday afternoon as I'll have the WWE Battleground recap for you.

- "WWE World Championship, Triple Threat Match": Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns: There has been a lot of controversy in this match already and it hasn't even happened yet. One big question mark on this match is to whether or not Roman Reigns will even be in it. Reigns is currently serving a 30 day suspension for failing his drug test and he hasn't been built up that much in this match, except for the Seth Rollins jokes. Sources are saying that he'll still be in this match though, as his suspension will be up 3 days before the pay per view takes place. Meanwhile, Ambrose and Rollins have picked up their feud right where they left off last year. Rollins defeated Reigns last month at WWE Money In The Bank and became a two time WWE World Champion. Ambrose, however, spoiled the celebration and immediately cashed in his Money In The Bank briefcase, defeated Rollins and claimed his first WWE World Championship. Ambrose and Rollins began the attacks and mind games with each other leading up to this match. Which former Hound of Justice walks out the champion, as the ex-Shield members finally do battle in a WWE Universe dream match?

- "WWE Intercontinental Championship Match": The Miz (c) vs. Darren Young: The Miz has reached over 100 days as the current WWE Intercontinental Champion and looks to continue on after WWE Battleground. Darren Young with the help of former WWE World Champion, Bob Backlund, has been on a journey of his own. Backlund has been serving as Young's life coach and trying to make Darren Young great again. Darren Young moved in the right direction, as he won a battle royal on RAW and earned the right to face The Miz at WWE Battleground for the I-C Title. Can Bob Backlund push Young to the limit and help him accomplish his first goal of winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship? Will The Miz prevail and shut down Young and continue living in his Hollywood fantasy?

- "WWE United States Championship Match": Rusev (c) vs. Zack Ryder: Last month at WWE Money In The Bank, Rusev successfully defended his WWE United States Championship against Titus O'Neil and then defeated Titus O'Neil again in a rematch for the title on RAW Independence Day. Rusev continues to hold America hostage in the palm of his hand, as he holds our greatest prize, the WWE United States Championship. Zack Ryder has stepped up and challenged the Bulgarian Beast for a shot at winning back the championship Ryder held once before. Rusev, not taking Ryder seriously, has gladly accepted the challenge. Can Ryder pull off the upset and win back the WWE United States Championship? Will Rusev break the under dog Ryder and continue to insult America?

- "One More Match": Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn: What haven't these two men put each other through? A feud that has been going since way back in Zayn and Owens' independent wrestling promotion days, may finally come to a close in this advertised "One More Match". Owens and Zayn picked up their feud back when Owens attacked Zayn while Zayn was NXT World Champion and Owens later defeated Zayn for the title. Zayn would then go on to eliminate Owens from the Royal Rumble back in January. Owens defeated Zayn at Payback and then both men kept the other from winning the Money In The Bank. Zayn challenged Owens to one more match and then they go their separate ways, which Owens accepted. Owens looks to finally end the career of Sami Zayn. Zayn, who is not only just a former best friend to Owens, he's also Owens' son's godfather, looks to finally end this family feud with Owens once and for all.

- "Six Man Tag Team Match": John Cena, Enzo and Big Cass vs. The Club (AJ Styles, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson): Last month at WWE Money In The Bank, AJ Styles defeated the WWE franchise John Cena in a wrestling fans dream match. Styles, however, had help from his Club friends, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson, to get the job done. Cena and Styles would then go on to cost each other WWE World Title opportunities as both men interfered in each others matches. The Club made it clear that they would now attack Cena every single week as payback on Cena. During a Club 3-on-1 beating of Cena, Enzo and Big Cass seen enough, made the save and joined forces with Cena in his feud with The Club. Can John Cena, Enzo and Big Cass bring a stop to The Club at Battleground? Will The Club make Enzo and Big Cass just another Club victim like they've done to Cena?

- "Six Man Tag Team Match": The New Day vs. The Wyatt Family: The Wyatt Family returned to RAW back in June and were immediately interrupted by the fun loving WWE World Tag Team Champions, The New Day. The Wyatt Family, not appreciative of The New Day's games, began stalking the champions and invited them to their compound to do battle. Xavier Woods was hesitant at first and tried to talk New Day out of going to the compound, but ended up joining his brothers in battle. Both teams brawled throughout the Wyatt Family compound until New Day finally retreated. A six man tag team match was signed for WWE Battleground as both teams are set to do battle again.

- Nattie Neidhart vs. Becky Lynch: Last month at Money in the Bank, Nattie and Becky Lynch lost their tag team match to Charlotte and Dana Brooke. After the match, a furious Nattie turned on Becky and attacked her. Nattie would go on to attack Becky again on RAW and proclaim that it's all about Nattie and what's best for her now. Becky would finally seek her revenge, as she got some shots in on Nattie, while Nattie served as a commentator. Both ladies are set to go one on one at WWE Battleground, as their past friendship has been thrown out the window.

- Charlotte and Dana Brooke vs. Sasha Banks and ????: Sasha Banks returned to the WWE from injury and immediately went after the WWE Women's champion, Charlotte. Sasha made the save as Charlotte and her new BFF, Dana Brooke, were attacking Paige. As weeks went by, Charlotte and Dana Brooke continued to poke fun and provoke Sasha. Charlotte promised Sasha a title match only if she could beat Dana Brooke in a one on one match. Sasha would defeat Dana, not once, but twice. Charlotte changed her mind and stated that Sasha wasn't a good enough competitor for Charlotte to defend the WWE Women's Championship against and instead announced a tag team match. Charlotte told Sasha to go find a partner, if she even had any friends and meet her and Dana at WWE Battleground.

- "Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel, With Special Guest Randy Orton: Chris Jericho will host his Highlight Reel and have Randy Orton as his special guest. Orton is returning from a lengthy shoulder injury that has kept him out of action all year. What will Orton have to say about his return? How does Orton feel knowing he has to step into the ring at Summer Slam in August against Brock Lesnar?
