This Sunday the 4-8 San Franciso 49ers travel to FirstEnergy stadium to take on the 2-10 Cleveland Browns. The headline will read Johnny Manziel vs. Blaine Gabbert, but as the game unfolds it will probably turn into a fairly ugly match up between the NFL's worst offense (49ers) and the NFL's second worst defense (Browns). These last four games of the season will serve as the best opportunity for both qb's to prove if they are capable of carrying a franchise on their backs.
The Browns will be without wide receivers Taylor Gabriel, Andrew Hawkins, and probably Marlon Moore. That means we will finally get to see the debut of quarterback turned wide receiver Terrell Pryor. No one is quite sure what to expect from Pryor, but at 6'4, 223 lbs he gives fans and the organization some hope of possibly having a viable weapon for the future. I'm not at all optimistic, but I'm pretty sure the front office is hoping for some type of magic from the Manziel, Pryor, Barnidge, Benjamin group. Expect to see Dwayne Bowe on the field, not catching any passes or making downfield blocks, but just simply standing out there looking around. The Browns will be without two of their starting offensive linemen, which might actually help, but without protection and a respectable running game don't expect to see many points put on the scoreboard.
The Browns defense has actually been passed up by the Saints for the title of "worst defense" in the NFL. They will again be without starting cornerback Joe Haden who is still in the NFL's concussion protocol, as is cornerback Justin Gilbert, but "who cares". I think it would be safe to bet a full paycheck on Anquan Boldin and Torrey Smith both getting in the end zone this week. Running back Shaun Draughn who spent the first six weeks of the season on the Browns roster will get the start. I'll say it since we're all thinking it: 100 yards and a touchdown for Draughn.
The Cleveland Browns haven't quit, but they simply aren't good enough to get another win this year. The only thing we as fans can hope is that in these last few games we might see a couple of guys who can prove that they are capable of being leaders and impact players on the field for the future. Manziel hasn't been awful this year, but he's still not putting up enough points to win. We'll see a lot of scrambling, but not enough scoring. I have the 49ers winning this one 24-13
