Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 9.22.14: Night of Champions

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your Night of Champions recap. Night of Champions took place live last night in Nashville, Tennessee. The show kicked off with the usual pre-game show, with Renee Young, Alex Riley, Booker T and Big Show going over tonight's card. We head to the ring for the return of former World Heavyweight Champion, Christian.

- The Peep Show with Christian, with guest Chris Jericho: Christian addresses his fans who welcome Christian back to the WWE. Christian welcomes Chris Jericho to his show as Jericho comes to the ring. Christian and Jericho trade friendly jabs about who was the leader in their old tag team. Jericho is about to talk about his opponent tonight, Randy Orton, when Orton interrupts on the titantron. Orton mocks Jericho's catchphrases. Jericho calls Orton a total jackass and says Orton will never...ever...be the same again after tonight.

Night of Champions goes live and we kick off with the WWE World Tag Team Championships on the line.

- "WWE World Tag Team Championship Match": The Usos (c) vs Goldust and Stardust: Stardust hits "Cross Rhodes" on Jey but Jey kicks out. The Usos go airbourne on the Rhodes Brothers on the floor, taking them out. Jey climbs the ropes and goes for the "Superfly Splash" but lands on Stardust's knees instead. Stardust rolls up Jey and grabs his tights for the pinfall. Goldust and Stardust are the NEW World Tag Team Champions.

- "WWE United States Championship Match": Sheamus (c) vs Cesaro: Cesaro ducks a "Brogue Kick" and rolls up Sheamus but Sheamus kicks out. Cesaro goes for " The Neutralizer" but Sheamus back body drops Cesaro, who lands on his feet. Cesaro dodges another "Brogue Kick" and hits a slam for another two count on Sheamus. Cesaro pounds on Sheamus in the corner and Sheamus wants him to bring more. Cesaro charges into the corner but catches the "Brogue Kick" right in the face. Sheamus covers and scores the pinfall to retain the United States Championship.

- Backstage Segment with Mark Henry and Big Show: Henry says he won't let America down tonight. Show says Henry has America as his tag team partner tonight and gets Henry pumped up.

- "WWE Intercontinental Championship Match": The Miz (w/Damien Sandow) vs. Dolph Ziggler (w/R-Truth): Country artists Florida Georgia Line are on commentary for this match. Sandow takes out R-Truth and gets in Florida Georgia Line's face. The country duo shove Sandow down and set up R-Truth to drop Sandow with a punch. Miz with a figure four on Ziggler but Ziggler escapes by rope break. Sandow jumps on the apron and catches a super kick in the face from Ziggler. Miz rolls Ziggler up from behind and scores the pinfall with a handful of tights. Miz is the NEW Intercontinental Champion.

- Seth Rollins vs. Roman Reigns: Rollins talks about Reigns' emergency surgery and demands a ten count by the referee to officially win the match. The referee makes the ten count and Rollins wins by forfeit. Rollins then throws out an open challenge to anyone in the backstage area. A taxi pulls in the parking lot and out pops Dean Ambrose. Ambrose hits the ring and unloads on Rollins. Ambrose and Rollins brawl all over the arena as Triple H sends out WWE security. Ambrose does a flying elbow and takes out all of WWE security and is back on Rollins, unloading on him. WWE security finally tackle Ambrose, handcuff him and carry him out of the arena.

- Mark Henry vs Rusev (w/Lana): Lilian Garcia sings the national anthem before this match starts. Henry hurts his back as Rusev tossed Henry into the ring steps. Henry gets a "World's Strongest Slam" on Rusev but can't capitalize. Rusev gets "The Accolade" applied on Henry and Henry taps out. Rusev celebrates after the match with the Russian Flag dropping from the rafters.

- Chris Jericho vs Randy Orton: Jericho blocked an "RKO" and hits a "Lionsault" on Orton. Orton goes for the punt kick but Jericho dodges and rolls Orton up for two. Jericho gets the "Walls of Jericho" locked on Orton. Orton fights out of the move, kicks Jericho to the floor then hits the drop DDT. Orton goes for the "RKO" but Jericho hits the "Code Breaker". Jericho climbs the ropes and waits for Orton. Orton hits the "RKO" on Jericho as he leaped off the top rope. Orton covers Jericho and scores the pinfall.

- "WWE Divas Championship, Triple Threat Match": Paige (c) vs A.J. Lee vs Nikki Bella: A.J. locked Nikki in the "Black Widow" but Paige kicks both girls in the head and gets a two count on both. We see a tower of doom suplex off the top rope by the trio. A.J. locks Paige in the "Black Widow" but Paige powers out. A.J. recoups and reapplies the "Black Widow" and this time Paige taps out. A.J. Lee is the NEW Divas Champion.

- "WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match": Brock Lesnar (c) vs John Cena: Cena with "AA" early but Lesnar kicks out. Lesnar locks in his armbar submission but Cena gets the rope break escape. Cena gets a good fight in during this match, not like last month when Lesnar owned him. Lesnar hits his version of "Three Amigos" and continues to ground and pound Cena in the corner and on the mat. Cena suffers a red welt on his side, courtesy of Lesnar knee to the rib shots. Cena blocks an "F5" and locks in the "STF", Lesnar reverse into the armbar submission. Cena lifts Lesnar up, hits an "AA" then locks in the "STF" again.
Lesnar tries to escape and Cena lifts Lesnar up and hits another "AA" and covers. Seth Rollins hits the ring and hits Cena with the money in the bank briefcase, ending the match by DQ. Rollins "Curb Stomps" Lesnar and looks to cash in his contract. Cena stops Rollins from cashing in and chases him from the ring. Lesnar drops Cena with an "F5" and leaves still WWE World Heavyweight Champion as Night of Champions comes to an end.
