Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 1/25/17: WWE Smackdown Live Toledo Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you the Smackdown Live Recap for the week.

This week Smackdown Live was live in Toledo, Ohio. Smackdown Live served it's go home show to this Sunday night's WWE Royal Rumble. Tension continued to build up this week within The Wyatt Family as Randy Orton battled Luke Harper in a one on one match. Mickie James explains why she attacked Becky Lynch last week and cost her the WWE Smackdown Live Women's Championship. A Battle Royal took place with the winner earning a spot in this Sunday's WWE Royal Rumble match. WWE World Heavyweight Champion AJ Styles and John Cena go face to face one last time before their title match at the Royal Rumble. Dolph Ziggler battled Kalisto in a one on one match. Naomi battled Nattie Neidhart in one on one Women's Division action. The main event saw WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose defend the title against The Miz in a No DQ Lumberjack Match.

** Smackdown Live **

- Backstage, The Miz and Maryse confront Daniel Bryan. Bryan announces that Miz will get his rematch against Dean Ambrose later tonight in a No DQ Lumberjack Match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

- Randy Orton vs. Luke Harper: The match closes out with Harper getting a near fall Michinoku Driver on Orton. Harper counters the RKO with another near fall roll up. Harper takes control and points at Bray Wyatt at ringside as Bray laughs. Orton counters the Harper Lariat, plants Harper with the RKO and scores the pinfall. After the match, Bray enters the ring and looks down on Harper. Bray grabs Harper, plants a kiss on the forehead and drives Harper into the mat with Sister Abigail. Orton and Bray leave Harper laying and walk out together. 
Winner: Randy Orton, by pinfall.

- Mickie James Promo: Mickie mocks the women's revolution and says they almost forgot about everything that Mickie has done for the WWE. Mickie thanks WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion Alexa Bliss for reminding everyone and Mickie says she has a ton of respect for Alexa. Mickie then makes it clear that this isn't about the women's revolution, it's about the return of Mickie James. Becky Lynch suddenly interrupts, hits the ring and starts brawling with Mickie. Mickie escapes into the crowd as Alexa Bliss appears out of nowhere and attacks Becky from behind. Mickie and Alexa beat down Becky as Mickie yells at Becky that this is lesson #1....always be one step ahead of your opponent.

- We get highlights of the Carmella and James Ellsworth shopping spree. Carmella picks an outfit for Ellsworth that makes him look like a Jersey Shore cast member.

- "Battle Royal, Winner Gets A Royal Rumble Spot": Heath Slater, Rhyno, Simon Gotch, Aiden English, Curt Hawkins, Konnor, Viktor, Mojo Rawley, Tyler Breeze and Fandango: The match closes out with Rhyno and Konnor brawling, allowing Mojo to sneak in and dump both men out for the elimination. Mojo unloads on Breeze and Fandango. Breeze goes for a super kick on Mojo, but misses and accidentally kicks Fandango over the ropes and to the floor. Mojo sends Breeze over the top rope for the last elimination to win the match.
Winner: Mojo Rawley

- Video highlights show Nikki Bella getting jumped by Nattie Neidhart earlier in the day when she arrived to the arena.

- AJ Styles And John Cena Face To Face: Styles and Cena meet face to face inside the ring. Styles doesn't appreciate Cena referring to Styles as the "Guy from Atlanta" when he is "The Phenomenal" AJ Styles. Styles says no one misses Cena when he's gone and Styles pretty much took his spot. Styles says he deserves respect after he sticks his foot up Cena's ass at the Royal Rumble. Cena says Styles has been relevant for 6 months, Cena's been doing it for 10 years. Cena says Styles doesn't belong on the level below Cena and Cena says he does more in one day than Styles did in his career. Cena says Styles isn't just a "Guy from Atlanta" he's the guy holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship because Cena lets him. Cena finishes off by promising Styles he's going to find out at the Royal Rumble that Cena is a bad bad man.

- Dolph Ziggler vs. Kalisto: The match closes out with Ziggler scoring a squash victory on Kalisto, by countering a springboard with a super kick. After the match, Ziggler grabs a steel chair, but Apollo Crews makes the save and attacks Ziggler. Crews swings and misses with the steel chair as Ziggler escapes.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler, by pinfall.

- Naomi vs. Nattie Neidhart: The match never happens as Nikki Bella attacks Nattie backstage and they brawl.
Winner: No Contest

- Naomi Promo: Naomi says she came to fight tonight and issues an open challenge. WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion Alexa Bliss arrives and tells Naomi to calm down. Alexa mocks Naomi and asks her who does she think she is. Naomi tells Alexa to get in the ring and she'll show her who she is. Alexa gets on the apron, but then jumps down and walks off. Alexa says Naomi isn't worth her time and tells Naomi to say hi to obscurity for her.

- Backstage, Dean Ambrose says his instincts are telling him to break The Miz's nose tonight and there aren't enough Lumberjacks to stop that from happening.

- "WWE Intercontinental Championship, No DQ Lumberjack Match": Dean Ambrose (c) vs. The Miz: The match closes out with Ambrose tossing Miz outside to the lumberjacks. Ambrose suicide dives onto Miz and the group of lumberjacks. Maryse grabs Ambrose's leg, allowing Miz to hit a running knee for a near fall. Miz hits two running drop kicks, but misses the third and gets sent outside to the lumberjacks by Ambrose. Ambrose again suicide dives onto Miz and all the lumberjacks as Miz tried to jump the barricade. Ambrose goes for a pinfall, but Baron Corbin gets in the ring and attacks Ambrose which starts a huge brawl between all the lumberjacks. Ambrose kicks out of a Miz rollup, hits Dirty Deeds, scores the pinfall and retains the title.
Winner: Dean Ambrose, by pinfall, to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
