Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 1/11/17: Smackdown Live Baton Rouge Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you the Smackdown Live Recap for the week.

This week Smackdown Live was live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. WWE Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose kicked off Smackdown Live with another edition of Ambrose Asylum. Nikki Bella battled Nattie Neidhart in one on one Women's Division action. Dolph Ziggler battled Kalisto in one on one action. American Alpha defended the WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Championship against The Wyatt Family. Carmella battled CJ Lunde in one on one Women's Division action. The main event saw John Cena battle Baron Corbin in one on one action.

** Smackdown Live **

- Ambrose Asylum with Dean Ambrose: Ambrose announces that he will be entering the WWE Royal Rumble match and then announces his guests, The Miz and Maryse. Miz says Ambrose taints the title every day that he holds it and announces that he too will be entering the Royal Rumble match. Miz threatens legal action on Ambrose unless he hands over the title back to Miz for last week's interferance that cost him his title. Ambrose refuses and gives Maryse a Miz Participation Award. Miz attacks and beats down Ambrose. Maryse goes to low blow Ambrose, but accidentally clocks Miz in the jewels. Ambrose lays out Miz with Dirty Deeds and then hands Maryse her award to end the segment.

- Backstage, Nikki Bella is headed to the ring when she suddenly gets jumped and beat down by Nattie Neidhart.

- Nikki Bella vs. Nattie Neidhart: The match is immediately thrown out as Nikki attacked Nattie from behind on the way to the ring. Nikki and Nattie brawl around the ramp and around ringside as WWE Officials try to separate the ladies. Nattie breaks loose from the sea of referees and chop blocks Nikki's knee. Nattie locks Nikki in the Sharpshooter submission and has to be pulled off of Nikki to end the segment.
Winner: No Contest

- Backstage, Dolph Ziggler is asked to comment on his actions of turning heel last week. Ziggler ignores the interviewer and keeps walking by.

- Dolph Ziggler vs. Kalisto: The match closes out with Kalisto landing a kick and a head scissors takedown on Ziggler. Kalisto with a super kick and a near fall roll up on Ziggler. Ziggler hits a drop kick, but Kalisto comes back and scores the pinfall on Ziggler with a crucifix cradle. After the match, Ziggler attacks Kalisto from behind. Ziggler grabs a steel chair and unloads on Kalisto until Apollo Crews hits the ring. Ziggler gains control on Crews and unloads chair shots on him. Ziggler leaves both Crews and Kalisto laid out to end the segment.
Winner: Kalisto, by pinfall

- Backstage, American Alpha are confident that they will retain the WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Championship against The Wyatt Family tonight.

- Backstage, John Cena hypes his match tonight against Baron Corbin, continued to lash out about the WWE New Era and promises that he's not finished yet in the WWE. 

- "WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Championship Match": American Alpha (c) vs. The Wyatt Family: The match closes out with Gable tossing Bray outside and then connecting with a top rope clothesline on Orton for a near fall. Harper gets on the apron and distracts the referee, as Orton hits the hanging DDT on Gable and then goes for the RKO. Harper still has the referee distracted and he and Orton stare each other down. Gable shoves Orton into Harper, sending Harper flying off the apron. Gable rolls up Orton and scores the pinfall to retain the titles. After the match, Orton and Harper shove each other as Bray gets in between them. The Wyatts finally leave the ring with tension between Harper and Orton.
Winners: American Alpha, by pinfall, to retain the WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Championship.

- Backstage, Becky Lynch talks to Daniel Bryan about last week with La Luchadora and Alexa Bliss. Alexa interrupts and tells Bryan not to fall for Becky's attempts at getting another title shot. Bryan announces Alexa vs. Becky next week in a Steel Cage Match for the WWE Smackdown Live Women's Championship.

- Carmella vs. CJ Lunde: Carmella gets the squash victory over the up and comer with the help from James Ellsworth.
Winner: Carmella, by submission.

- Backstage, James Ellsworth tries to kiss Carmella, but Carmella says they're going shopping next week.

- Backstage, Baron Corbin says tonight will be John Cena's End of Days. AJ Styles interrupts and says that tonight is Corbin's night.

- John Cena vs. Baron Corbin: AJ Styles is on commentary for this match. The match closes out with Corbin planting Cena with a powerslam and gets a near fall. Cena comes back and unloads on Corbin. Corbin catches Cena and plants him with Deep Six for a near fall. Corbin talks trash, but Cena unloads in return. Corbin applies a bear hug on Cena, but Cena escapes and hits a tornado DDT from the corner. Cena hits the Five Knuckle Shuffle on Corbin and then the Attitude Adjustment to score the pinfall. After the match, Cena and Styles stare each other down to end the show.
Winner: John Cena, by pinfall.
