Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 1/12/17: NXT Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you this week's NXT recap.

This week's NXT saw Billie Kay, Peyton Royce and Nikki Cross send a message to NXT Women's Champion Asuka. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce battled Macey Evans and Sarah Bridges in Women's Division tag team action. Elias Samson battled Jonathon Cruz in one on one action. Andrade "Cien" Almas battled Oney Lorcan in one on one action. The main event saw #DIY defend the NXT World Tag Team Championship against The Revival.

** NXT **

- Backstage, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce attack NXT Women's Champion Asuka from behind and beat her down.

- Billie Kay and Peyton Royce vs. Macey Evans and Sarah Bridges: The match closes out with Sarah tagging in and unloads drop kicks. The referee gets distracted by Billie and Peyton, allowing Billie to rake Sarah's eyes. Billie and Peyton hit their bulldog facebuster into Billie's knee to score the pinfall. After the match, a limping and beaten up Asuka hits ringside, but officials try to hold her back. Nikki Cross hits the ring, chases off Billie and Peyton and then lays out Asuka with a top rope drop kick. Asuka gets back to her feet and attacks all the officials.
Winners: Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, by pinfall. 

- Backstage, Nikki Cross and SAnitY state that they are going to take everything that is there's. Big Damo meanwhile can be seen watching the faction.

- Elias Samson vs. Jonathon Cruz: The match closes out with Cruz attempting a comeback on Samson, but Samson regains control. Samson lays out Cruz with a boot to the face that sends Cruz outside. Samson ends up hitting the neckbreaker finisher on Cruz and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Elias Samson, by pinfall. 

- Andrade "Cien" Almas vs. Oney Lorcan: The match closes out with Lorcan nailing a running uppercut and a running elbow. Almas counters a running blockbuster and unloads on Lorcan. Lorcan hits an Alabama Slam and both men go down. Almas chop blocks Lorcan's legs and then hits a hammer lock DDT to score the pinfall.
Winner: Andrade "Cien" Almas, by pinfall. 

- Shinsuke Nakamura Interview: Nakamura says his match against Samoa Joe was tough, says his next opponent Bobby Roode is a good wrestler, good looking and dresses well, but isn't strong and will not defeat Nakamura. Interviewer Todd Phillips gives Nakamura a ticket that Bobby Roode instructed him to give to Nakamura. It's a ticket from NXT Dallas when Roode won his debut match.

- "NXT World Tag Team Championship Match": #DIY (c) vs. The Revival: The match closes out with Ciampa tagging in and he and Gargano go for their finisher. Wilder pulls Gargano out of the ring to stop the finisher. Wilder hits a jawbreaker on Ciampa and Dawson follows with a DDT for a near fall. The Revival go for the Shatter Machine on Ciampa, but Gargano makes the save and stops the finisher. Ciampa and Gargano hit their double team finisher and score the pinfall to retain the titles. After the match, Paul Ellering distracts Ciampa and Gargano as The Authors of Pain attack from behind and beat down the champions.
Winners: #DIY, by pinfall, to retain the NXT World Tag Team Championship.

- Backstage, NXT GM William Regal announces that #DIY will defend their NXT World Tag Team Championship at Takeover: San Antonio against The Authors of Pain. Also next week Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode will have a contract signing for their NXT World Championship Match at Takeover: San Antonio. Asuka interrupts and demands a match at NXT Takeover: San Antonio against everyone.
