Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 1/5/17: NXT Australia Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you this week's NXT recap.

This week's NXT was a special taped two hour event from NXT's live show in Melbourne, Australia. The Revival battled Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss in tag team action. Bobby Roode and Elias Samson teamed up to battle Tye Dillinger and Buddy Murphy in tag team action. Ember Moon battled Liv Morgan and Billie Kay in a Triple Threat Match. NXT World Tag Team Champions #DIY defended the titles against TM61. NXT World Champion Shinsuke Nakamura defended the title against Samoa Joe in a Steel Cage Match in the main event.

** NXT **

- The Revival vs. Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss: The match closes out with Sabatelli hot tagging in and cleaning house. Moss tags back in and goes for the finisher, but Wilder stops it. The Revival sneak a blind tag after an atomic drop and hit their Shatter Machine finisher to score the pinfall.
Winners: The Revival, by pinfall.

- Bobby Roode and Elias Samson vs. Tye Dillinger and Buddy Murphy: The match closes out with Murphy hot tagging and cleaning house. Murphy unloads forearms, clotheslines and a double knee from the top rope. Murphy connects with a hurracanrana on Roode and then suicide dives onto Roode as Roode tries to escape outside. Dillinger and Samson both tag in which leads to Dillinger hitting the Tye Breaker and scoring the pinfall.
Winners: Tye Dillinger and Buddy Murphy, by pinfall.

- "Triple Threat Match": Ember Moon vs. Billie Kay vs. Liv Morgan: The match closes out with Billie unloading chops on Liv and Ember, but both return with chops on Billie. Ember hits a cross body on on Liv, suplexes Billie and then kips back to her feet. Ember goes for the O Face Stunner, but Liv cuts Ember off on the ropes. Billie comes in next and power bombs Liv into the mat. Liv turns around and walks right into a flying Ember who connects with the O Face Stunner and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Ember Moon, by pinfall.

- "NXT World Tag Team Championship Match": #DIY (c) vs. TM61: The match closes out with all four men brawling. Ciampa lands a power bomb into a back breaker on Thorne and gets a near fall after Miller breaks things up. Miller and Gargano trade punches back and forth. Miller ducks a roll through kick and drops Gargano with a deadlift sit down power bomb for a very close near fall. Gargano is able to hot tag Ciampa. Ciampa nails a boot and DIY hit their double team finisher to score the pinfall and retain their tag team titles. After the match, both teams show respect with a handshake.
Winners: #DIY, by pinfall, to retain the NXT World Tag Team Championship.

- "NXT World Championship, Steel Cage Match": Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Samoa Joe: The match closes out with Nakamura looking for a way to escape the cage over the top, but Joe meets him there. Joe takes control and sets Nakamura up for a Super Muscle Buster, but Nakamura counters and drives Joe into the mat with a Super Power Bomb. Nakamura springboards off the ropes and drills Joe with a Kinshasa, busting Joe open. Nakamura goes to exit the cage door, but changes his mind and slams the door shut. Nakamura measures Joe and drills him with a second Kinshasa. Joe staggers back to his feet one more time and Nakamura seals the pinfall victory with a third Kinshasa on Joe to retain the title.
Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura, by pinfall, to retain the NXT World Championship.
