Wrestling Lockup with Brandon: SummerSlam Preview
Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast, brings you a special pre-show rundown of tonight's card. Tonight's show will take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. You can see tonight's show live on the WWE Network, kickoff show at 7:30 and the event starts at 8:00. The special event is pretty stacked with some good matches, a few of them might be the final payoff and a few of them might be just to continue the story.
- "WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match": John Cena (c) vs Brock Lesnar: This is the headliner and probably WWE's most talked about match at the moment. Brock Lesnar is coming off of his win on The Undertaker at Wrestlemania, breaking the dead man's undefeated streak. Lesnar has basically been hired by Triple H as a one-man assassin to take out John Cena. Cena is standing by his never give up, never surrender attitude and isn't backing down from the former UFC Fighter. Cena still holds a victory over Lesnar when he returned at Extreme Rules in 2012. Lesnar says it won't happen again.
- "WWE Intercontinental Championship Match" The Miz (c) vs Dolph Ziggler: Two hometown Cleveland boys go at it in this match. The Miz and Ziggler's heat with each other started at last month's WWE Battleground special event, when Miz outsmarted Ziggler and eliminated him in the I-C battle royal. The Miz has bought into his "Mr. Hollywood" gimmick as he feels every movie director wants him in their movies. Ziggler, who's been on a rough road this past year looks to get revenge on Miz and leave as the new WWE I-C Champ.
- "WWE Divas Championship Match": A.J. Lee (c) vs Paige: What started as a friendly rivalry with these two ended in hated. A.J. returned and surprised Paige with a victory to win Paige's Divas Title. Paige accepted the defeat and showed respect to A.J. as they began teaming together. Paige however fooled everyone as she attacked A.J. after a match and left the champ laid out. Paige continued to play mind games with A.J., mocking her, attacking her and then saying that she loves her in the process. A.J. is looking forward to SummerSlam to finally get her hands on Paige.
- "Flag Match": Jack Swagger vs Rusev: For months Rusev has been running over opponents as his manager, Lana, runs down America. Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter have stepped up to the plate in defending America, both being true blue Americans. Rusev and Lana have dedicated this victory to Russian President Putin. Swagger and Colter have dedicated this match to every American from sea to shining sea. If this is a traditional "Flag Match" then the first person to grab their opponents flag wins. There are a few variations of this match so we'll see.
- Chris Jericho vs Bray Wyatt: This feud began when Chris Jericho returned to the WWE and was immediately attacked by The Wyatt Family. Jericho picked up the win on Bray at WWE Battleground last month, but it hasn't stopped the sadistic leader from getting revenge. Bray claims Jericho is not a savior and will prove it at SummerSlam. Jericho, meanwhile, defeated Harper and Rowan, banning both Wyatt members from the match tonight. Jericho says he never claimed to be a savior and will follow the buzzards to shove them down Bray's throat.
- Brie Bella vs Stephanie McMahon: This match has been brewing for months. Brie quit the company to protect her husband, Daniel Bryan, from The Authority's plans of stripping Daniel of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Brie was in attendance to cheer on her sister Nikki when Stephanie McMahon arrived and ordered Brie to be escorted out. Stephanie slapped Brie which led to Stephanie's arrest for assault. Brie got her job back and a match with Stephanie as long as she dropped the charges of assault. Stephanie terrorized Brie and even went as far as getting Daniel Bryan's physical therapist to admit having an affair with Bryan. This sparked Brie to slap the physical therapist and get arrested herself for assault. These two ladies finally meet tonight to settle their feud
- Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton: Orton is blaiming Reigns for costing him what should have been Orton's main event match with Cena tonight. Reigns looks to add another dent in The Authority's armor as he sets his sights on "The Viper" and former face of the company. Reigns and Orton have been beating the hell out of each other leading up to this match.
- "Lumberjack Match": Dean Ambrose vs Seth Rollins: Ambrose finally gets his hands on his former partner in crime, Seth Rollins. Ambrose won the right to pick this match stipulation. Ambrose chose Lumberjack Match so Rollins couldn't run from Ambrose. Rollins looks to finally take out Ambrose so he can concentrate on his money in the bank opportunity. Ambrose looks to take Rollins out permanently.
So there you have it, the match by match preview of tonight's SummerSlam. I'm sure the pre-show will probably have a match as well but there's no word as to what that match is yet. Be sure to check out Triple Threat Podcast tomorrow afternoon as I will have the SummerSlam recap for you all. Till then, tap or snap.
