Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 8.9.14: WWE Smackdown

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon is here again and it's brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast! It's time for the Smackdown recap for the week.

Now before I start with the Smackdown recap, there was some major news in the WWE camp. It was announced on Thursday, that former WWE World Champion, Alberto Del Rio, was released from the company. Rumors are the reason for his release was because Del Rio got upset with a backstage social media WWE employee, had words with him and slapped him. Del Rio was hit with "altercation with an employee" and "unprofessional conduct" reason being for his release. Another source is saying that the social media guy made a racial joke about Del Rio and Del Rio was defending himself. I'll keep my eye on this story to see what the real story is. Best of luck Mr. Del Rio.

- This week's Smackdown took place in Laredo, Texas. The show kicked off with "Lunatic Fringe" Dean Ambrose cutting a promo. Ambrose says he outsmarted The Authority and makes jokes about which stipulation he's going to choose against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam. Rollins arrives and tells Ambrose to get to the point and no matter what match he chooses he's going to lose. Ambrose chooses a "Lumberjack Match" so Rollins can't run away. The Authority give Rollins the right to pick an opponent for Ambrose tonight. Rollins chooses Randy Orton.

- Mark Henry and Big Show vs Ryback and Curtis Axel: Big Show chokes Ryback then throws him to Henry. Henry hits the "World’s Strongest Slam" on Ryback as Show chokeslams Axel for the pinfall.

- Backstage, Dolph Ziggler, Adam Rose and the Rosebuds are laughing at highlights of Rollins losing to Heath Slater on Monday. Rollins arrives and calls Ziggler's career a joke. Ziggler and Rollins take more shots at each other until Rollins challenges Ziggler for later.

- Sin Cara vs Damien Sandow (Dressed as a border patrol officer): Sandow insults Sin Cara for being Mexican. Sin Cara hits a senton bomb on Sandow for the pinfall.

- Dolph Ziggler vs Seth Rollins: Rollins whips Ziggler into the barricade then whips him into the ring steps. Rollins hits the "Curb Stomp" on Ziggler for the pinfall.

- Paige vs Nattie Neidhart: Paige mocks A.J. Lee by skipping around the ring. Nattie surprises Paige with a rollup but Paige just kicks out. Paige lands a thrust kick then locks in the "PTO" submission forcing Nattie to tap out.

- Rusev (w/ Lana) vs Big E: Rusev stomps on Big E's back before locking in "The Accolade" forcing Big E to tap out.

- Chris Jericho cuts a promo. Jericho talks about getting rid of Harper and Rowan at SummerSlam and having the solution to get rid of the Bray Wyatt problem once and for all.

- Dean Ambrose vs Randy Orton: Seth Rollins runs out and tries to interfere but Ambrose takes him out. Ambrose hits "Dirty Deeds" on Orton but Rollins breaks up the pinfall. Ambrose and Rollins begin brawling on the floor and in the ring with Ambrose owning Rollins. Orton makes the save and lays Ambrose out with an "RKO". Rollins pours a drink on Ambrose, kicks Ambrose while he's down then closes Smackdown out by hitting a "Curb Stomp" on Ambrose.

And that is a wrap for the SmackDown recap for this week. I will be back next Saturday afternoon for another Smackdown recap edition. Until then, tap or snap.
