Wrestling Lockup with Brandon: Sting In WWE

Will Sting ever wrestle in the WWE?

Whether he was Blade Runner Sting, Surfer Sting, Crow Sting, Wolfpack Sting or Black and White Sting, Steve Borden, is no doubt one of the industries most charismatic wrestlers to ever step into the squared circle. Sting, made his name in the NWA which later became WCW and was the face of the company, up until WCW's demise, when Vince McMahon bought them out. At that time, Sting, still loyal to WCW, decided not to compete in Vince's WCW and finished out his contract at home. Which I think would have made the Invasion Angle huge if Sting would have jumped to WWE.

Sting stayed away from the wrestling scene for the next few years until resurfacing in TNA. Sting quickly made a name for himself yet again as he became one of TNA's top stars. Sting stayed loyal to TNA, just like he did with WCW, as he turned down WWE's contract offers when contract renewals came up.

What's interesting is the fact that Sting stated in many interviews that he came close on many occasions on signing with the WWE, but always felt like the time wasn't right. When Vince bought out WCW, Sting, had just become a born again Christian and felt his character would not have been used correctly in honoring that.

During his last few years in TNA, Sting stated that he met with Vince McMahon on many occasions and came close to signing with the WWE, but continued to stay loyal to TNA. Sting stated that he and Vince had a great relationship for the business but Sting still wasn't ready to make the WWE leap.

Sting finished out yet another year in TNA and again contract talks came up and it appeared that Sting was finally ready to make that WWE leap. Sting officially left TNA and became a free agent in the business. Rumors circulated on the internet that Sting had officially signed with the WWE this past spring, and it appeared that those rumors were true as Sting appeared for the first time on WWE programming. Granted it was only interview segments about the passing of his former tag team partner, Ultimate Warrior, on the WWE Network.

As of today, Sting, has still yet to sign an official contract with the WWE but has become the company's top merchandise draw at the tables this year. Sting shirts, Sting action figures, Sting masks, Sting's official DVD collection and other DVD merchandise highlighting Sting's character and matches. The WWE even took it to the next level with Sting. Two weeks ago the WWE officially announced their new WWE video game, 2K15, and who will be a downloadable playable character? Sting! This will mark the first time that Sting has ever appeared in a WWE video game. On July 24, Sting made his first public appearance for WWE, in his full Sting outfit at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con International. Sting was there to promote the WWE's new line of action figures coming out.

So my question is why has Sting still not signed an official WWE contract? Has he secretly done it, judging by all his recent WWE appearances? Possible, but why keep it secret? Is he still worried about the WWE tarnishing his legacy? Possible, considering the WWE has been known to dump on former WCW stars in some way, just ask Booker T.

Sting stated that he wants one more match and would love to wrestle at a Wrestlemania. He's even made it verbally known that wrestling The Undertaker at a Wrestlemania would be the match of his choice. So Sting, where do we go from here? I personally would love to see one more match out of the icon. I however would not want to see a Sting vs Taker match. Now ten years ago that match would be a five star classic, but I think Taker is too banged up to do it now. Honestly, I think the best option would be Sting vs John Cena at Wrestlemania. This would recreate that icon vs icon atmosphere that The Rock and Hulk Hogan pulled off at Wrestlemania 18. I would also mark out in seeing Sting vs Daniel Bryan, Sting vs CM Punk (if Punk ever returned), Sting vs Cesaro, Sting vs Chris Jericho and even Sting vs Bray Wyatt would be kinda cool looking at both of their gimmicks.

So Sting, put the ink to the paper and make some fan dream matches come true!

Leadoff with Lee 7.31.14

-Corey Kluber needed just 85 pitches in his complete game shutout of the Seattle Mariners and lead the Tribe with a 2-0 win yesterday in Cleveland. Kluber improved to 11-6 on the season while recording 8 strikeouts and giving up only 3 hits. The Indians only had 4 hits on the night, with the biggest hit coming from catcher Yan Gomes with his 2 run single in the bottom of the 6th inning. The 3 game series comes to a end tonight, as Zack Mcallister getting the start for the Tribe and Chris Young for the Mariners.

-Justin Masterson was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals for outfield prospect James Ramsey yesterday. The trade deadline is over today at 4 PM. The Indians dodged a bullet by not signing Masterson to a $43 million dollar extension prior to the beginning of 2014 season, and did get a top prospect in return. Masterson will become a free agent at the end of the season. Masterson will join his new team on Friday and is scheduled to make his first start on Saturday. The right hander was 4-6 on the season with a 5.51 era in 19 starts with the Indians this year. James Ramsey is a former first round draft choice and will report to Triple-A Columbus. Ramsey, 24, was considered one of the top prospects in the Cardinals organization. Ramsey was the 23rd pick in 2012 draft out of Florida State. He is hitting .300 with 13 homeruns and 36 RBI.

-Trade talks are heating up between the Timberwolves and Cavs in a deal that would send Kevin Love to Cleveland. The Cavs have emerged as the front runner to land Love as Chicago has backed out of trying to acquire Love. As it stands, it looks like the Cavs will need to part ways with lasts years first round pick Anthony Bennett, this years number one overall pick Andrew Wiggins and a first round pick in 2015. A third team, possibly the Philadelphia 76ers, may also be apart of the deal to make this trade more appealing and to make all the salaries meet NBA requirements for trades. Neither Minnesota or Cleveland can comment on any trade until August 23rd when Andrew Wiggins' 30 day no trade clause expires for signed NBA rookies. Wiggins was signed last Thursday and may not don a wine and gold jersey when the regular season starts. Anthony Bennett was pulled from Team Canada by his agent fearing he may get injured and to protect his client from any trade that maybe in the pipeline.

-74 year old NBA official Dick Bavetta will be retiring. Bavetta's first game as an NBA ref was December 2, 1975 at Madison Square Garden in a game between the Knicks and Celtics. In April 2014, Bavetta worked his 2,633rd consecutive regular season game. By comparison, legendary Baltimore Orioles shortstop Cal Ripken's "ironman streak" was 2,632 straight games.

-The Browns had a much needed day off yesterday and resume training camp today in Berea. All the live action will begin as the Browns will actually be tackling.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 7.28.14: WWE Raw

I'm back with another Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast. Today's edition is the RAW recap from last night's show. Last week, "Plan C" went into play as Triple H accepted Paul Heyman's offer of his client, Brock Lesnar, facing John Cena at SummerSlam for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Stephanie McMahon, was escorted out of the building in handcuffs, after slapping Brie Bella who was in attendance as a fan. Cesaro approached Triple H and asked to be in The Authority. Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston looked to have created an Alliance together. And Bray Wyatt continues to stalk "The Ayatollah of Rockin' Rollah" Chris Jericho.

- RAW took place this week live in Houston, Texas. RAW kicked off with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, John Cena, cutting a promo. Cena talks about "Plan C", Brock Lesnar, being chosen as his next opponent, admits to probably getting a beating at SummerSlam but claims that he'll beat Lesnar just like he did two years ago. Paul Heyman arrives on stage with mic in hand. Heyman talks about Lesnar taking Cena's title, Cena about to become a victim, brags about Undertaker being MIA since Lesnar took him out and states that Cena will be beaten, victimized and conquered at SummerSlam. Cena rebuttals with how hard he works for the company, his passion, he has heart and guarantees leaving SummerSlam with the title. Cesaro arrives on the stage with mic in hand. Cesaro tells Cena that he's a walking muscled up billboard that can't wrestle, which gets a chant started from the crowd. Cesaro challenges Cena and we have an impromptu match kicking off RAW.

- John Cena vs Cesaro: Cena and Cesaro connect with boots to each other's faces. Cesaro climbs the ropes but Cena is there and delivers an "AA" off the top rope on Cesaro for the pinfall.

- Backstage Stephanie McMahon is embarrassed that she was arrested last week. Randy Orton is upset that he was taken out of his title match with Cena. Triple H tells Orton he has to take care of Roman Reigns before getting another shot at the title but not tonight cause it's Reigns vs Kane. Orton has a problem with Kane and Triple H now.

- Paige is in the ring cutting a promo. Paige promises she'll never act the way she did last week when she attacked A.J. Lee ever again. A.J. enters the ring to "CM Punk" chants. A.J. says she knows how Paige feels to lose her title, doesn't play little girl games and will tell someone to their face if she has a problem. Paige insults A.J. by calling her "crazy" and "mental". This sparks A.J. as she tackles Paige and we have a catfight! Paige escapes as A.J. dares her to get back in the ring.

- Triple H and Stephanie McMahon head to the ring to cut a promo. The fans chant "jailbird" at the misses. Triple H is angry that the fans laughed that Steph was arrested last week, will never forgive the fans for that and says how humiliated Steph is when she was just defending herself against Brie Bella. Brie Bella who was invited to RAW by Stephanie is called out to talk this out. Chris Jericho arrives on the stage with mic in hand and says he feels bad at what happened so he sings "Bad Boys", the theme from COPS, with the fans. Jericho rips on Stephanie some more then demands Bray Wyatt tonight. Triple H says Jericho will have to wait till SummerSlam for Wyatt cause he has Seth Rollins tonight. Rollins comes from behind and hits Jericho in the back with his briefcase.

- "Six Man Tag Match": The Miz, Curtis Axel and Ryback vs Dolph Ziggler and The Usos. Xavier Woods, Big E and Kofi Kingston arrive and watch from ringside. Miz tries to distract Ziggler but Ziggler avoids the distraction and hits Ryback with the "Zig Zag" for the pinfall.

- R-Truth vs Bo Dallas: R-Truth rolls Dallas up for the pinfall and the undefeated streak is over! Dallas shakes Truth's hand after the match and accepts defeat. Dallas then snaps and viciously attacks Truth with clubbing forearms then lays Truth out with a double arm DDT.

- Rusev and Lana are in the ring cutting a promo about mother Russia, disrespecting the U.S., president Obama and even former president Bush. Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter arrive and give Rusev and Lana a history lesson on what the American Flag stands for. Swagger rushes the ring and a brawl with Rusev erupts. Rusev throws Swagger into the barricade before going for "The Accolade" in the ring. Swagger reverses into a "Patriot Lock" but Rusev escapes from the ring.

- Damien Sandow (dressed as an Astronaut) vs Adam Rose: "Party Foul" on Sandow for the pinfall and Rose parties with the Erotic Express.

- Kane vs Roman Reigns: Randy Orton attacks Reigns from behind on the way to the ring. Kane and Orton 2 on 1 Reigns. Reigns lays Orton out with the "Superman Punch" but gets choke slammed by Kane. Kane leaves the ring as Orton viciously attacks Reigns with punches, kicks, tossing Reigns into the ring steps, drop DDT'ing Reigns off the barricade and finishes with an "RKO" twice on the announcers table.

- Fandango vs Diego: Layla and Summer Rae come out with Los Matadores. El Torito and the ladies distract Fandango as Diego steals the rollup pinfall. El Torito gores Fandango after the match.

- Backstage Stephanie McMahon knocks on Nikki Bella's locker room door looking for Brie to express herself. Nikki says Brie will express herself too later. Nikki says it's not often that someone like Steph has to eat a plate of crap and she hopes she likes it.

- Another weird Goldust and Stardust promo, looking for the cosmic key.

- Nattie Neidhart and Naomi vs Alicia Fox and Cameron: Naomi makes Cameron tap out to a head scissors submission.

- Chris Jericho vs Seth Rollins: Jericho catches Rollins with a "Code Breaker" as Rollins came off the top rope. The lights go out and a Wyatt clip plays on the titantron. Lights are back on and Jericho is surrounded by Bray Wyatt, Rowan and Harper. Rowan and Harper beat down Jericho to soften him up. Bray hits "Sister Abigail" and stands over Jericho's body.

- Stephanie McMahon is in the ring for another promo. Stephanie is humbled for being arrested and says her kids are scarred by this. Brie Bella arrives and gets in Stephanie's face. Stephanie wants the charges dropped cause she doesn't deserve this. Brie says Stephanie deserves to go to hell. Brie says she'll drop the charges as long as she can have her job back. Stephanie says it's a deal and starts to walk away. Brie stops her and says she's not done. She'll drop the charges with her job back and a match at SummerSlam against Stephanie. Stephanie whines and refuses until finally agreeing, says Brie will be her "bitch" at SummerSlam and slaps Brie in the face. Brie spear tackles Stephanie and we have a cat fight. WWE officials and Triple H rush the ring to seperate both ladies as RAW closes out.

**** SummerSlam Card ****
- "WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match": John Cena (c) vs Brock Lesnar
- Chris Jericho vs Bray Wyatt
- Brie Bella vs Stephanie McMahon

And that wraps up this edition of RAW recap. I'll be back with more RAW action next Tuesday afternoon. Till then, tap or snap.

-LeBron James will return to his roots and wear number 23, the same way he did before he went to South Beach. James wore number 23 for 7 years in Cleveland and in his sophomore through senior seasons at St. Vincent St. Mary high school in Akron. James tweeted "23 it is. It's only right I go back. 2.3=6 we still family 6. #home  team #striveforgreatness.

-Word I'm getting is the San Antonio Spurs will open the 2014-2015 NBA season in Cleveland against the Cavs. Why not a big game for opening night? 2 teams the world wants to see. The NBA champs and the new and improved Cleveland Cavaliers!

-The Cleveland Indians avoid the sweep with a 10-3 win over the Royals. Carlos Santana went 3 for 3 with 2 homeruns. Yan Gomes went yard after Santana hit his first homerun. The Tribe racked up 15 hits and 10 runs. Pitcher Danny Salazar improved to 3-4 on the season after being called back by triple A. Salazar pitched 7 innings giving up 7 hits, 3 earned runs and 7 strikeouts. The Indians will get some well needed rest as they return home to face the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday.

-Bobby Cox, Tony La Russa, Tom Glavine, Frank Thomas, Greg Maddux and Joe Torre were officially inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday.

-Are those the new J's? Yes the optic yellow shoes work by Johnny Manziel are called the Vapor Ultimate. NFL rules restrict players wearing colors outside team colors besides white and black. But Johnny has a Nile contract and needed to get the word out to cop the new cleats. Manziel only wore them for a few minutes before changing to a team colored Nike cleat. Head coach Mike Pettine didn't seem alarmed by Manziel's actions. I'm sure it was all discussed before Johnny hit the field. I mean how could Pettine miss those hot yellow shoes on Johnny's feet? The cleats Johnny wore are selling for $250 a pop! But that's them new J's though...

-It has been reported that Josh Gordon will meet with Roger Goddell on August 1st to discuss his future. After Gordon's recent arrest he reported to a rehab facility in California with the hopes of a reduced or no suspension. Ray Rice only got 2 games for beating up his then girlfriend, now wife. So what is going to happen to Josh? Only time will tell... tick, tock, tick, tock....

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 7.26.14: WWE Smackdown

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon is here again and it's brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast. It's WWE Smackdown recap time in this edition. This week's Smackdown took place in sunny Orlando, Florida.

- Smackdown kicked off with tag team action as the current WWE World Tag Team Champions, The Usos, faced off with Curtis Axel and Ryback. The Usos pull off some "twin magic" on Curtis Axel. Axel drop kicks Jey to the floor who lands next to Jimmy. Jey and Jimmy switch places causing Axel to grab Jimmy instead of Jey. Jimmy surprises Axel with a rollup pinfall.

- The next segment we see the newly crowned Intercontinental Champion, The Miz, in the ring for MizTV. The Miz wanted to give the WWE Universe what they truly deserved, an acceptance speech. The Miz thanks his family, wife, dogs, cats, the money maker and the fans even though The Miz's mom stated her favorite wrestler was Roman Reigns. Bo Dallas interrupts The Miz and says he won the I-C Title because he "Bo-Leived". Dolph Ziggler interrupts and calls The Miz's speech lame and says that Miz and Bo have one thing in common.....both are full of crap. Dallas says Dolph could be just like them if he "Bo-Leived". Ziggler and Dallas begin fighting each other as Miz escapes the ring.

- Bo Dallas vs Dolph Ziggler: Miz distracts Ziggler, allowing Dallas to sneak a rollup in from behind on Ziggler for the pinfall. Miz and Dallas celebrate after the match until Ziggler hits Dallas. Miz shoves Ziggler into the ring post and runs off.

- Roman Reigns is backstage hyping up his match with Alberto Del Rio later and talking about Randy Orton.

- "No DQ Match": Dean Ambrose vs Cesaro: Ambrose connects with the ring bell on Cesaro. Ambrose goes for a kendo stick shot but catches one in the gut from Cesaro. Cesaro with a kendo stick sleeper combo on Ambrose. Cesaro slams Ambrose through two chairs. Kendo stick camel clutch on Ambrose by Cesaro. Russian leg sweep with the kendo stick by Ambrose. Ambrose suplexes Cesaro on a chair. Ambrose gets tossed into the ring post but Ambrose returns the favor with a suicide dive. Seth Rollins tries to attack Ambrose but Ambrose sends him over the barricade. Cesaro deadlift suplexes Ambrose on a pile of chairs but Ambrose rolls up Cesaro for the pinfall. Rollins and Cesaro attack Ambrose after the match, laying Ambrose out with "The Neutralizer" and a "Curb Stomp".

- Paige vs Naomi: Paige skipped to the ring mocking A.J. Lee. Paige makes Naomi submit to her submission. After the match Cameron attacked Naomi until leaving.

- Goldust and Stardust cut another weird promo about the cosmic key.

- Bray Wyatt vs R-Truth: Bray hits "Sister Abigail" on Truth for the pinfall. Bray cuts a promo asking Truth where Chris Jericho was to help him like he helped Jericho on RAW. Bray says Jericho is not a savior but Bray is.

- Roman Reigns vs Alberto Del Rio: Reigns connects with the "Superman Punch" and hits the "spear" afterwards. Reigns picks up the pinfall on Del Rio and celebrates to close out the show.

And that wraps up this week's Smackdown recap. I'll be back on Tuesday with the RAW recap. Till then, tap or snap.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 7.25.14: TNA Impact

Welcome to another edition of Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast. In this edition I will be recapping last night's TNA Impact episode. Last night's episode again took place in New York City. Last week we saw the reunion of Team 3D as Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer's feud with Dixie Carter and company heated up. We also learned that Austin Aries will make a decision on whether he's turning over his TNA X Division Championship for a shot at the TNA World Title at Destination-X. We will also see the reunion of one of the greatest tag teams of the WWE "Attitude Era" reunite, Matt and Jeff, The Hardy Boys. Let's get the recap started.

- Impact kicked off with Bobby Roode vs. MVP in a "Falls Count Anywhere Match". MVP doesn't come out so Roode goes backstage looking for him. Roode finds MVP and they brawl back to the ring. Kenny King tries to get involved, but Eric Young comes out to help Roode. MVP hits Roode continuously with chair shots until Roode gets a shot in on MVP's knee.
Roode destroys MVP's bad knee with a steel chair shots of his own, then locks a sharpshooter in making MVP tap out.

- Jeff Hardy comes out to the ring to cut a promo in the next segment. Hardy mentions that we have not seen the last of Willow and he talks about last week's match against Bobby Lashley. Jeff wants to look to the future so he calls out his brother Matt Hardy. Matt Hardy comes out and talks about his past problems, thanks the fans, and wants to be tag team champions with his brother, Jeff, again. The Hardy Boys challenged The Wolves to a TNA World Tag Team Championship Match at Destination X. The Wolves come out to the ring and respectfully accept The Hardy Boys challenge.

- The next segment we see The Bromans in the ring. Robbie apparently isn't afraid of clowns anymore. DJ Z states that he is the best wrestler in the X Division and he will prove it at Destination X.

- DJ Z vs Low Ki: Low Ki returns to TNA and scores the pinfall on DJ Z with the "Ki Krusher". Low Ki looked good in his return.

- Dixie and her crew are backstage plotting to take out team 3D and Tommy Dreamer tonight in New York City. Ethan Carter III thinks he's street tough because he grew up in Boca Raton, Florida.

Anderson gets tossed into the ring post, then hit with Magnus' finisher for the pinfall. After the match, Magnus and Bram attack Anderson and Gunner until Samuel Shaw runs out. Aries tells MVP and Lashley that there has never been a single person that he has ever been afraid of stepping into the ring with. Aries hands over the TNA X Division Championship to Kurt Angle and officially challenges Bobby Lashley to a TNA World Title Match. We also find out that a new rule will be added in the X-Division which will allow the X Division Champion to challenge for the World Title anytime he wants instead of once a year.

Storm spits his beer in Muta's face then attacks him. Sanada hits the ring with a steel chair in his hand to make the save for his mentor. Sanada, however, stuns everybody as he hits Muta with the steel chair, spits red mist in Muta's face and lands a moonsault on Muta. Sanada leaves with Storm and bows to his new mentor.

- "New York City Streetfight Match": Tommy Dreamer and Team 3D vs Ethan Carter III, Rhino and Rockstar Spud: Out of control brawling to start the match. Dreamer with cookie sheet shots on Rhino. Bully grates more Carter skin with a cheese grater then hits a family jewels shot on ECIII with a trash can lid. Devon and Dreamer land trash can lid shots and a Singapore cane shot on ECIII. Rhino takes all three out but misses the "Gore" and kisses a trash can wedged in the corner instead. Spud takes a "Doomsday Device" from Team 3D. Dreamer baseball slides a lid into ECIII's face. Team 3D and Dreamer are about to put Dixie's crew away when two hooded gentlemen get involved in the match. Chaos breaks out as ECIII hits Dreamer with a front bulldog on a chair for the pinfall. The hooded guys reveal themselves as Snitsky and Ezekial Jackson. Bully, Devon and Dreamer are given the 7 on 3 beat down as Impact ends with Dixie, King Mo, ECIII, Spud, Rhino, Ezekiel and Snitsky standing tall.

The Raven Report 7.23.14: Carlos Santana & Cavs Making Moves

-The Cavs created some financial flexibility Tuesday by trading Carrick Felix, a second round pick and $1 million in cash to the Utah Jazz for John Lucas III, Malcolm Thomas and Erik Murphy. Those three players gives Cleveland about $3.3 million in non-guaranteed money that can be used to help match the salary in the a trade for Minnesota forward Kevin Love.

Minnesota is looking for a team or teams to unload the contracts of point guard JJ Barea and shooting guard Kevin Martin. Barea has 1 year, $4.5 million left on his contract while Martin has 3 years and $21 million remaining. It is rumored that Cleveland and Minnesota are going to work on the framework of a trade involving Kevin Love and Andrew Wiggins in the 30 day holding period after Wiggins signs his rookie contract.

If not Cleveland, the Chicago Bulls could swoop in for Love with a package including Taj Gibson, Jimmy Butler and others. Golden State and Denver are also interested in Kevin Love.

-Cavs guard Dion Waiters has been added to the U.S. Select Team that will train with Team USA next week in Las Vegas, to prepare for the FIBA World Cup. Along with Waiters, the Select Team features Harrison Barnes, Trey Burke, Jimmy Butler, Victor Oladipo, Draymond Green, Tim Hardaway Jr., Tobias Harris, Doug McDermott, Marcus Smart, Cody Zeller, Mason Plumlee and Miles Plumlee.

-New Dallas Maverick Rashard Lewis will undergo knee surgery. Lewis, 34, signed a 1 year, veteran's minimum deal last week.

-Welcome to the Carlos Santana show! 'Los went deep for his 15th home run, hit a single and two doubles at the Indians beat the Twins, 8-2. Danny Salazar, fresh off his call up from the minors, got the start. Salazar went 5 innings, giving up 6 hits, 1 earned run and 3 walks while recording 6 strikeouts. Santana finished going 4 for 5, raising his average to .214. Nick Swisher went 3 for 4, also raising his season average to .215. Could last night's game be the one to turn things around for some Tribe hitters? Things are looking up. The series finale with the Twins is at 1 PM today.

-"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" continued its box office reign this past weekend, raking in $36 million. "The Purge: Anarchy" came in second with $28.3 million. "Planes: Fire & Rescue" was third with $18 million. "Sex Tape" was fourth with just $15 million and "Transformers: Age of Extinction" rounds out the top 5 with $10 million, adding to its HUGE $886 million worldwide number.

This weekend will be interesting to see if "Apes" can get on top for a 3rd straight week with Scarlett Johansson's action movie "Lucy" releasing on Friday.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 7.22.14: WWE Raw

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon is here again and it's brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast. Today's edition is the RAW recap for last nights RAW. Last night we seen the aftermath of WWE Battleground from Sunday night. John Cena is still the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, The Miz is the newly crowned Intercontinental Champion, Paul Heyman introduced a "Plan C" idea to The Authority (even though it's obvious what that was going to be) and Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins still want to destroy each other in the worst way.
Last night's RAW kicked off the road to Summer Slam in August, live in Miami, Florida. RAW also had a special musical guest, Florida's own, hip hop musician, Flo Rida, in attendance. Let's go to the highlights.

- RAW kicked off with Triple H heading to the ring for the opener. Triple H says that no one in the back can look him in the eye over what happened last night, admits to being mad, having options to fix it, tweeting his issues, crying and rioting if he doesn't get what he wants, he could fire everyone or he could just relax. Triple H says that sooner or later he'll win and if he has to wait till SummerSlam for John Cena to lose his title then so be it. Triple H promises that Cena will not leave SummerSlam the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Randy Orton interrupts Triple H and heads to the ring. Orton says he's still owed his rematch from Wrestlemania. Triple H says he wants someone impressive to face Cena at SummerSlam and Orton is the front runner. Orton says he should be champion if not for Kane last night. Kane's music hits and out comes the devil's favorite demon. Kane says he hopes to be a consideration cause he feels he can be the champion as long as he's not babysitting Orton. Roman Reigns' music hits and out comes Reigns. Reigns says Cena vs Reigns is what everyone wants to see so his name deserves to be in it. Reigns lands a "Superman Punch" on Kane as Triple H and Orton flee. Triple H makes Reigns face Kane and Orton now.

- "Handicap Match": Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton and Kane: Reigns connects with the "Superman Punch" and then the "Spear" on Kane to score the pinfall. After the match Orton fakes getting in the ring and leaves instead.

- Backstage Stephanie McMahon announces a 4 on 1 Divas Match with Alicia Fox, Eva Marie, Rosa Mendes and Cameron facing Nikki Bella.

- "Handicap Match": Alicia Fox, Eva Marie, Rosa Mendes and Cameron vs Nikki Bella: Sister, Brie Bella, is in the front row and hugs Nikki before the match. Stephanie McMahon comes out and insults Brie to her face saying she gave up being a Diva for Daniel Bryan, now she's just another face in the crowd. Brie calls Stephanie a "bitch" and Stephanie retaliates by slapping Brie and having Brie escorted from the building. The match starts and Fox pins Nikki with a scissor kick. After the match Stephanie McMahon makes fun of Nikki and says she will be just like her sister eventually and quit.

- Bo Dallas vs. Damien Sandow: Sandow dressed up like LeBron James and messed with the Miami crowd. Dallas hits the "Bo-Dog" for the pinfall.

- The Wyatt Family arrive and welcome everyone to Chris Jericho's Highlight Reel, Jericho is unable to make it however. The Wyatts play a video on the titantron showing them attacking Jericho in the locker room. Bray gives Jericho a "Sister Abigail" right into a locker and tells Jericho that sooner or later they all fall down. Back in the ring Bray cuts a promo. Bray says that Jericho isn't here for them, but he is, he has been here for everyone since day one. Bray says Jericho won the battle but not the war, they've brought giants to their knees, claims to be the Eater of Worlds and that Bray Wyatt is forever. It cuts backstage where we see Jericho being checked on.

- The Miz vs Dolph Ziggler: Miz goes for the "Skull Crushing Finale" but Ziggler blocks it. Ziggler attempts a superkick but Miz shields his face and turns around. Ziggler hits the "Zig Zag" and scores the pinfall.

- Backstage Triple H tells Seth Rollins he doesn't have to face Cena at SummerSlam because he has the Money in the Bank contract. Cesaro appears and says that he is not a Paul Heyman guy anymore, he wants to be a Triple H guy and asks to face Cena. Triple H tells Cesaro he can face Dean Ambrose tonight.

- A.J. Lee and Paige vs Emma and Natalya: A.J. hits the "Shining Wizard" on Nattie then followed it with the "Black Window" submission. Nattie taps out. After the match A.J. and Paige celebrate their victory. Paige suddenly turns on A.J. and attacks her from behind. Paige tosses A.J. to the mat, to the floor, against the barricade, and then over the announcers table. Paige yells "this is my house", then mocks A.J. by skipping away.

- Zack Ryder (w/Summer Rae and Layla) vs Fandango: Ryder hits the "Rough Ryder" and covers, but Fandango gets a foot on the rope. Layla knocks Fandango's foot off the rope allowing Ryder to get the pinfall.

- Backstage Flo Rida and Heath Slater have an altercation. Slater shoves Flo Rida, Flo Rida shoves Slater back and makes Slater hit the floor. Flo Rida performs for the crowd next.

- Stephanie McMahon is confronted by two police officers and they arrest her for assaulting Brie Bella because Brie Bella is technically a fan. Brie Bella appears and has a shouting match with Stephanie. Stephanie says that she is going to pay for this. Triple H appears and tries to talk the officers out of taking her away, but it doesn't work as they put her in the back seat and drive off.

- Ryback and Curtis Axel vs Big E and Kofi Kingston: Kofi connects with the SOS on Ryback but Axel breaks up the pinfall. Kofi hits a cross body from the top rope on Ryback but Ryback rolls through and scores the pinfall on Kofi. After the match Xavier Woods gets in the ring and tells Big E and Kofi that their time is now and from now on they're just going to take what they want.

- Rusev vs The Great Khali: Rusev connects with the super kick then locks in "The Accolade" and makes Khali tap out.

- Goldust and Stardust with a weird promo about a cosmic key.

- Cesaro vs Dean Ambrose: Ambrose goes into lunatic mode and throws Cesaro into the ring post over and over. Ambrose grabs a steel chair and slams it on Cesaro's arm forcing a DQ.

- Triple H is backstage and he's heading to the ring to announce Cena's opponent at SummerSlam

- Triple H comes to the ring and he announces that Cena's opponent at SummerSlam is Randy Orton. Orton makes his way to the ring, but is suddenly jumped by Roman Reigns. Orton and Reigns fight all the way backstage as Paul Heyman appears. Heyman says it appears that "Plan A" and "Plan B" may not happen anytime soon so he introduces "Plan C"........BROCK LESNAR! Triple H shakes Heyman and Lesnar's hand and it's official John Cena vs Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Heyman talks up Lesnar conquering The Undertaker's streak and why Lesnar is a beast. Paul Heyman says that Lesnar will conquer and destroy Cena at SummerSlam and strip Cena of his dignity as he takes his title. Lesnar poses as RAW comes to a close.

And that wraps of this edition of the RAW recap. Until next time, tap or snap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon: WWE Battleground

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon is brought to you this Monday afternoon by Triple Threat Podcast. In today's edition I'll be recapping last night's WWE Battleground "Special Event". This year's event took place live at the Tampa Bay Times Forum, in Tampa, Florida. The WWE Battleground kick off show began with Fandango and Adam Rose in one on one action.

- Fandango vs Adam Rose: Adam Rose came out with Summer Rae and Layla in his Exotic Express party posse. As soon as Fandango got in some offense, Layla and Summer Rae danced outside with the party posse, then both slapped Fandango. Rose capitalized on the distraction and hit the "Party Foul" for the pinfall.

- Cameron vs Naomi: The former Funkadactyls went one on one. Cameron scored the rollup pinfall with a handful of tights.
WWE Battleground goes live as the "Special Event" opens up with The Usos defending the WWE World Tag Team Championship.

- "WWE World Tag Team Championship, 2 Out Of 3 Falls Match": The Usos (c) vs Rowan and Harper. Jey is laid out on the floor, leaving Jimmy alone. Harper nails Jimmy with a huge boot to the face, scores the pinfall and The Wyatts go up 1-0. Jimmy finally is able to make a tag to Jey who makes it back to the apron. Jey sneaks a rollup on Harper for the pinfall and we're tied 1-1. Harper with a sit down power bomb on Jimmy but Jimmy kicks out. Jey hits the splash from the top rope on Rowan but Rowan kicks out. Rowan double superplexes The Usos off the top rope and another near fall. Jimmy eats a big clothesline from Harper and yet another near fall. The Usos double super kick both Rowan and Harper then double splash Harper from the top rope for the pinfall to retain the WWE Tag Team Titles.

- Dean Ambrose attacks Seth Rollins backstage as Rollins is cutting an interview. WWE officials pull Ambrose off Rollins and Triple H kicks Ambrose out of the building.

- "WWE Divas Championship Match: A.J. Lee (c) vs Paige: "CM Punk" chants to kick off the match. This was a good Divas match. A.J. locks in the "Black Widow" but Paige fights out of it. Paige hits the "Paige-Turner" for a near fall. Paige locks in her submission finisher but A.J. escapes. A.J. charges and nails the "Shining Wizard" and scores the pinfall to retain the WWE Divas Championship.

- Backstage, Randy Orton apologized to Kane for the "RKO" on RAW. Kane wasn't buying it.

- Rusev (w/Lana) vs Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter): Lana slapped Zeb as Swagger and Rusev went at it to start the match. Rusev goes for the super kick but Swagger catches the leg and locks in the "Patriot Lock". Rusev escapes to the floor where Swagger follows and locks in the "Patriot Lock" again. Rusev is able to fight out and slingshot Swagger into the ringpost and knocking Swagger out cold. Rusev rolls into the ring and wins by count out. After the match Rusev attacks Swagger and locks in "The Accolade" in the center of the ring.

- Another weird Goldust and Stardust promo.

- Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose: Knowing Ambrose was kicked out of the building, Rollins demands his hand raised and announced the winner. Rollins is announced the winner by forfeit. As Rollins leaves, Ambrose comes out of no where and attacks Rollins. Ambrose beats Rollins all over the arena as WWE officials try to pull Ambrose off Rollins. Triple H and more officials come out and drag Ambrose out but Ambrose and Rollins break free again and the brawl continues. Ambrose is held down and dragged out as Rollins and Triple H escape together.

- Chris Jericho vs Bray Wyatt (w/Rowan and Harper): Rowan and Harper get ejected after distracting Jericho throughout the match. Bray blocked the "Lionsault" and "Walls of Jericho". Jericho blocks "Sister Abigail". Jericho hits the "Code Breaker" for the pinfall.

- Seth Rollins again gets jumped by Dean Ambrose in the parking lot as he's leaving. Ambrose and Rollins brawl on top of Rollins' rent a car until Rollins escapes and drives off.

- "20 Man Battle Royal for the Intercontinental Championship": The final four came down to Dolph Ziggler, Bo Dallas, Sheamus and The Miz hiding on the floor. Ziggler drop kicks Dallas over the top rope. Ziggler super kicks Sheamus out and Ziggler thinks he won. The Miz sneaks back in the ring and dumps Ziggler out. The Miz is the NEW Intercontinental Champion.

- "WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match, Fatal 4 Way Match": John Cena (c) vs Randy Orton vs Roman Reigns vs Kane: Kane breaks up an Orton pin attempt stopping The Authority from winning back the title. Cena and Reigns both have Orton in a submission hold but doesn't tap. Cena "AA" on Kane then the "STF" on Orton. Reigns breaks up the submission and we get a Cena vs Reigns battle. Reigns gets a spear on Cena but Kane breaks up the pin. Reigns spears Orton through the barricade. Reigns spears Kane but Cena breaks it up. Cena "AA" on Kane but Reigns breaks up the pin. Kane choke slams Cena and Reigns but Reigns kicks out. Reigns spears Kane, Orton "RKO" on Reigns and Cena with the "AA" on Orton on top of Kane. Cena covers Kane for the pinfall and to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
And that wraps up WWE Battleground. The Usos vs Rowan and Harper was a great match. A.J. Lee vs Paige was a good match considering the shambles the Divas Division is in. I was quite surprised that Jericho went over on Bray Wyatt, I was expecting Bray to take the first one. The Miz winning the I-C Title makes good sense with The Miz's current Hollywood gimmick. And we all knew Cena would retain so he can fight Lesnar at SummerSlam.

Thanks for reading and I'll be back tomorrow with RAW recap. Till then, tap or snap.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 7.19.14: WWE Smackdown

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon is here, brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast! It's the Smackdown recap in this edition. This week's Smackdown serves as the last show before Sunday's Battleground "Special Event", live on WWE Network. Smackdown took place in Fayetteville, N.Carolina.

***Recap Note***
I stated in this past week's RAW recap that it appeared that Seth Rollins injured his leg in the main event as he took a clothesline dive over the top rope. Good news, Rollins was able to apply pressure on his leg after being helped to the back by WWE officials. Rollins will not miss any days as it appears he just tweeked it.
*****

- Smackdown kicked off with the "Lunatic Fringe" Dean Ambrose, cutting a promo. Ambrose talks about how all he's ever heard about is how special Seth Rollins is, how he was the brains and the architect of The Shield and how the three on one attack on RAW didn't keep Ambrose down. Ambrose asks "Is that all you've got?" and dares The Authority to come out. Seth Rollins appears on the Titantron and says that Ambrose is a lunatic destined for the asylum and without Rollins, Ambrose is nothing. Rollins wants nothing more to come out and meet Ambrose face to face but uses the tweeked knee and not being cleared to fight excuse. Rollins and Ambrose go back and forth some more until it's revealed that Ambrose will meet Kane in the main event tonight.

- Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus vs The Miz and Fandango: Sheamus goes for the "Brogue Kick" on The Miz but The Miz moves, causing Sheamus to hit Fandango instead. The Miz dumps Sheamus outside but gets hit from behind with the "Zig Zag" from Ziggler. Ziggy scores the pinfall on The Miz.

- Alicia Fox vs Eva Marie (w/Nikki Bella as referee): Match ends in a no contest after Fox and Eva two on one attack Nikki.

- Backstage we get another bizarre Stardust and Goldust promo about other dimensions which ends with Stardust blowing dust in Goldust's face.

- Chris Jericho vs Luke Harper: Bray Wyatt cuts a promo before the match about Jericho "saving us", calls Jericho a liar and says he sees right through him. Jericho with the "Walls of Jericho" on Harper however Rowan jumps on the apron with the distraction. Jericho spring board drop kicks Rowan, ducks a Harper clothesline then scores the rollup pinfall. The Wyatt Family three on one attack Jericho after the match until The Usos make the save.

- Zeb Colter and Jack Swagger cut a promo. Zeb talks about Russia, Rusev and Lana and says that Swagger will take care of them at Battleground. Rusev and Lana arrive. Lana says that stupid Americans will never learn and Swagger will be crushed at Battleground. Rusev and Swagger then wave their flags at each other.

- Alberto Del Rio vs Kofi Kingston: Del Rio blocks a superplex attempt by Kofi. Del Rio hits a double stomp to Kofi's chest for the pinfall.

- Fandango is backstage and tells Layla and Summer Rae they will want him back when he wins the I-C Title on Sunday. Both ladies refuse Fandango. Bo Dallas appears and gives Fandango an inspirational speech about setting the girls free and he'll have a new girl soon as long as he "Bo-Lieves".

- Summer Rae and Layla vs A.J. Lee and Paige: A.J. applies the "Black Widow" on Summer, after force tagging herself in. Summer taps out. A.J. and Paige stare each other down after the match. A.J. goes for a handshake but Paige hugs her instead.

- Kane and Seth Rollins are backstage. Rollins wants to be on the same page as Kane and knows what Orton did to Kane on RAW wasn't personal. Rollins asks Kane to save some of Ambrose for him. Kane tells Rollins to not even think about cashing in his Money In The Bank contract at Battleground.

- Dean Ambrose vs Kane: Kane goes for a tombstone on Ambrose right on the ring steps. Ambrose escapes and tosses Kane into the ring post. Seth Rollins appears out of nowhere and hits Ambrose with the money in the bank briefcase. After the match
Rollins and Kane attack Ambrose. Ambrose tries to fight back but gets choke slammed by Kane. Rollins then hits the "Curb Stomp" on Ambrose right on the ring steps as Smackdown closes out.

And that wraps up the Smackdown recap for this week. I'll be back on Monday afternoon with the WWE Battleground highlights. Till then, tap or snap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 7.18.14: TNA Impact

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon is here, brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast. In today's edition it's the TNA Impact recap. Last week we saw Austin Aries crowned the new TNA X-Division Champion as he defeated Sanada in singles competition. Later in the show, we witnessed Jeff Hardy winning a 20 man battle royal, which earned him the right to meet Bobby Lashley tonight for the TNA World Title. Let the highlights begin!

- Impact kicked off in New York City and the six sided ring is back. The show starts with Taz cutting a promo in the balcony of the arena. Taz talks about things being great with Kurt Angle in charge and TNA will be turning a corner for the better.

- Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer come out to the ring to cut a promo. Bully says they will grab the wrestling world by the balls and promises to put Dixie Carter through a table. Dreamer thanks the fans for sticking with them as they became famous in this very building back in their ECW days. Ethan Carter III and Rhino interrupt the ECW alumni members. ECIII says his aunt will go through a table over his dead body and calls Bully and Dreamer "crap" just like the fans of New York. Rhino tells the fans to respect them or they'll get beat down. Dreamer tells ECIII and Rhino they are out of their element and we have a brawl break out between the four men.

- Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer vs Ethan Carter III and Rhino: Rockstar Spud shows up and Bully chases him around, trying to get rid of him. Later in the match, Spud jumps up on the apron and distracts Dreamer. Dreamer grabs Spud and starts choking him until ECIII steals a pinfall with a rollup.

- Backstage, James Storm meets up with Sanada. Storm talks Sanada up with compliments then slaps Sanada in the face. Storm then insults Sanada's mentor, The Great Muta, before walking off.

- "TNA X-Division Championship, 8 Man Battle Royal": The battle royal comes down to Austin Aries and Sanada. Aries dodges a Sanada moonsault and hits the "IED" then a brainbuster, scoring the pinfall and retaining the TNA X-Division Title. Sanada gets attacked by James Storm after the match. Storm beats Sanada down and calls his mentor, The Great Muta, a fraud.

- Bobby Roode and Eric Young vs MVP and Kenny King: Roode and EY win by DQ as MVP hits Roode with his crutch. EY grabs the crutch from MVP but gets cracked with the other crutch by King. EY and Roode get choked out by the crutches and stomped on by MVP and King.

- It's announced that The Great Muta will be at Impact next week.

- Brittany vs Madison Rayne: Rayne scores the pinfall on Brittany with the packaged DDT.

- Dixie Carter arrives to the arena. Says she does what she wants because she is the owner of TNA. Dixie insults Bully Ray and makes it clear he'll never put her through a table.

- Backstage Kurt Angle congratulates Austin Aries on his win tonight. Angle announces that next week Aries will have the opportunity to decide on whether he's staying TNA X-Division Champion, or cashing it in for a TNA World Title shot at Destination-X.

- "TNA World Championship Match": Bobby Lashley (c) vs Jeff Hardy: Hardy hits the "Twist of Fate" and the "Swanton" but can't put Lashley away. Hardy goes for another "Swanton" but Lashley moves as Hardy crashes back first on the ringsteps. Lashley nails the spear on Hardy, scores the pinfall and retains the TNA World Title.

- Kurt Angle confronts MVP about his actions earlier and forces him to face Bobby Roode next week in a "Falls Count Anywhere Match".

- Dixie Carter comes to the ring to cut a promo with Rockstar Spud, Ethan Carter III and Rhino. Carter insults New York fans, makes fun of Tommy Dreamer and says she's embarrassed for the New York fans for cheering for Bully Ray. Dixie calls herself the "Hardcore Star" for all the times she put Bully through a table. Bully Ray and Tommy Dreamer arrive and attack ECIII, Spud and Rhino. All three are taken out and Bully and Dreamer surround Dixie. ECIII gets back in the ring and low blows Bully allowing Spud to grab Dixie and escape. Brother Devon returns and attacks ECIII on the ramp. Team 3D "3D" ECIII through a table as Dixie, Spud and Rhino look on from the crowd as Impact comes to an end.

And that wraps up this week's TNA Impact recap. I'll be back with more Impact action next Friday. Till then, tap or snap.
