Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 2.19.16: #NXT & #SmackDown

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your NXT Recap Edition.

This week's NXT took place at their home base of Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. The best of the NXT tag team division squared off this week in a huge eight man tag team match. One week after making her presence felt on NXT Women's Champion, Bayley, Japanese newcomer, Asuka, had a singles match. This week's main event had Sami Zayn facing Samoa Joe to determine a new #1 Contender to Finn Balor and the NXT World Title.

*** NXT ***
  

- "Eight Man Tag Team Match": Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Jason Jordan and Chad Gable vs. Wesley Blake, Buddy Murphy, Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson: The match closes out with, Gable getting a near fall roll up on Blake. Dawson is in, hits Gable with a drop kick and traps Gable in the heel corner. Jordan and Big Cass are in and clean house. Cass tosses Blake onto Murphy as Jordan suplexes Wilder.
Jordan and Gable hit their double team finisher on Dawson, but Wilder breaks the pinfall. Wilder gets taken out as Enzo and Cass hit the double team Rocket Launcher on Dawson to score the pinfall.
Winners: Jason Jordan, Chad Gable, Enzo and Big Cass, by pinfall.

- Asuka vs. Deonna Porrazzo: The match closes out with, Deonna hitting a clothesline on Asuka. Asuka smiles and unloads a kick to Deonna's gut. Asuka applies an Ankle Lock submission, but Deonna escapes only to be dropped by an Asuka german suplex. Asuka unloads a series of strikes on Deonna, eventually knocking Deonna unconscious. Asuka covers and scores the easy pinfall.
Winners: Asuka, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Eva Marie and Nia Jax threaten to destroy NXT Women's Champion, Bayley, and warn Asuka to mind her own business.

- Tye Dillinger vs. Alex Riley: The match closes out with, Riley hitting a clothesline, applying a head lock and punches Tye in the mouth. Riley goes for a scoop slam, but Tye pulls out a roll up and scores the pinfall on Riley.
Winner: Tye Dillinger, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Baron Corbin tells NXT GM William Regal that its not to late to put him in the #1 Contenders match. Regal says it isn’t happening.

- "#1 Contenders Match": Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe: The match closes out with, Joe and Zayn trading blows. Joe with a splash and an enziguri on Zayn. Joe attempts another enziguri, but gets hit with an exploder suplex from Zayn. Joe counters Helluva Kick and applies the Coquina Clutch submission on Zayn. The submission is broken by a rope break so Joe goes for the Muscle Buster. Zayn escapes and hits Helluva Kick on Joe.
Joe and Zayn hit the mat with both shoulders down and arms on top of each other. The referee counts and its a double pinfall. After the match, NXT GM William Regal asks the referee who the winner was. The referee says neither cause they pinned each other. NXT closes out with still no #1 Contender to Finn Balor's NXT World Title.
Winners: Draw, due to Double Pinfall.

This week's Smackdown took place in Ontario, California. Tonight's Smackdown was the go home show to WWE Fastlane, live this Sunday on WWE Network. Six man tag team action kicked off Smackdown with Dolph Ziggler and The Lucha Dragons facing the League of Nations. Sasha Banks prepares for her tag match at WWE Fastlane, going one on one with Tamina. Chris Jericho faces The Miz and gives his answer to AJ Styles on whether they'll face each other at WWE Fastlane. Charlotte took on Nattie Neidhart in one on one action. In the main event, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose took on The Dudley Boys while watching their backs for Brock Lesnar, who was in the building as well.

*** Smackdown ***
 

- Dolph Ziggler and The Lucha Dragons vs. The League of Nations: The match closes out with, Ziggler hitting a DDT as The Lucha Dragons brawl with Del Rio and Rusev on the floor. Ziggler ducks a Sheamus Brogue Kick and gets a near fall roll up. Ziggler knocks Del Rio off the apron, hits a super kick on Rusev and a Famasser on Sheamus. Kevin Owens appears on the apron and distracts Ziggler, allowing Sheamus to hit the Brogue Kick for the pinfall.
Winners: League of Nations, by pinfall.

- Sasha Banks vs. Tamina: The match closes out with, Naomi getting knocked off the apron by Sasha. Tamina goes for a clothesline, but Sasha counters with a bulldog. Banks applies the Bank Statement on Tamina and makes her tap out. After the match, Naomi and Tamina beat down Sasha until Becky Lynch hits the ring and clears it. Becky helps Sasha up, but Sasha shoves Becky away.
Winner: Sasha Banks, by submission.

- Backstage, Becky Lynch asks Sasha Banks if she understands that they will lose to Team BAD if they go into Fastlane as enemies. Becky says she's there for Sasha, but Sasha is letting her ego get in the way. Sasha says they're not friends, but she hates losing. They agree to kick ass like a boss.

- Chris Jericho Promo: Jericho is about to give AJ Styles his answer when The Miz interrupts. Miz says he's sick of Jericho and Styles both. Miz announces he's fighting Jericho tonight.

- Chris Jericho vs. The Miz: The match closes out with, Miz dodges the Lionsault and gets a near fall DDT on Jericho. Jericho counters the Skull Crushing Finale and gets a near fall back breaker on Miz. Jericho slaps Miz, Miz fires back with a boot to Jericho's face. Miz goes for a flying lariat, but Jericho counters and locks Miz in the Walls of Jericho submission, forcing Miz to tap out. Winner: Chris Jericho, by submission.

- Chris Jericho Promo: After the match, Jericho calls out AJ Styles. Jericho tells Styles he knows that Styles is trying to make a name for himself in the WWE, but it won't be at Jericho's expense, so the answer is no. Jericho says he respects Styles, but doesn't like him. Styles asks if he can do anything to change Jericho's mind. Jericho says no, so Styles unloads punches on Jericho. Jericho escapes to the floor, grabs a microphone, tells Styles he just made a stupid move that he'll regret and agrees to the match at WWE Fastlane.

- Backstage, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose are preparing for the Dudley Boys tonight. Reigns tells Ambrose not to pull that Dirty Deeds stuff again. Ambrose doesn't think Reigns can take a joke. Paul Heyman interrupts, says he respects Reigns and warns Ambrose that Brock Lesnar is here, looking for Ambrose and isn't in a good mood.

- Backstage, The New Day mock Edge and Christian, will prove that they are stuck in the 90's and no one has flash photography anymore cause this is 2016.

- Charlotte vs. Nattie Neidhart: The match closes out with, Nattie hitting a clothesline and a german suplex on Charlotte. Charlotte takes out Nattie's legs and applies the Figure Eight submission for the tap out victory. After the match, Charlotte mocks Brie Bella by doing the "Yes" chants. Brie hits the ring and goes after Charlotte. Brie unloads the Yes Kicks on Charlotte until Charlotte rolls out to the floor to escape.
Winner: Charlotte, by submission.

- Backstage, R-Truth is on the phone apologizing to his wife. Goldust appears dressed as a rapper. Goldust and Truth battle rap each other with Truth humiliating Goldust.

- Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose vs. The Dudley Boys: The match closes out with, Ambrose dodging the Bubba senton. Reigns hits a lariat on Devon and drops Bubba with a samoan drop. Reigns hits a series of corner clotheslines and sets up for the Superman Punch. Brock Lesnar's music hits distracting Reigns and Ambrose, who get attacked by the Dudleys. Reigns counters the 3D and hits a Superman Punch on Devon. Bubba lands a boot on Reigns, but gets taken out by an Ambrose elbow. Ambrose suicide dives onto Devon and then goes full steam toward Lesnar. Lesnar unloads a series of knees into Ambrose and hits a german suplex. Reigns hits a Superman Punch on Lesnar and goes for the spear.
Lesnar dodges and Reigns almost hits Ambrose. Ambrose goes for Dirty Deeds on Reigns, but gets dropped by a Reigns samoan drop. Lesnar grabs Reigns and hits an F-5. Lesnar leaves as Reigns and Ambrose are laid out. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H arrives and stares down Lesnar to end the show.
Winners: Draw
