Wrestling Lockup With Brandon 5/17/17: Smackdown Live Manchester Recap

Just like RAW on Monday, Smackdown Live returns from their United Kingdom tour last week, live in Manchester, New Hampshire. We're 5 days away from WWE Backlash live this Sunday on the WWE Network. What would go down on this week's go home show??

** Smackdown Live Card **

- AJ Styles battled Jinder Mahal.
- Breezango battled The Colons.
- WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion Naomi battled Carmella in a non title match.
- WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton battled Baron Corbin in a non title match.

- WWE United States Champion Kevin Owens brings us his version of Chris Jericho's The Highlight Reel.

- A contract signing takes place between all six ladies in the Six Woman Tag Team Match at WWE Backlash.

- Promos By: WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Champions The Usos.

** Smackdown Live **

- Kevin Owens' Highlight Reel: Owens says he's taking over The Highlight Reel because we'll never see Chris Jericho ever again. Owens says Jericho was obsessed with lists, well now he's on the injured list and Owens promises to do the same to AJ Styles. Styles interrupts and says he watched Owens steal Jericho's thunder for a year, promises to take away Owens' title at WWE Backlash and insists on fighting tonight. Owens disagrees and says he never invited Styles out here. Jinder Mahal and the Singh Brothers interrupt next, Mahal says he was supposed to be the guest on Highlight Reel, he and Owens call Styles a rude American and then Mahal promises that he's beating Randy Orton for the World Title, just like he beat Orton last week. Owens says Styles will lose to Jinder Mahal tonight just like he's losing to Owens on Sunday. Styles gets in the ring and Owens runs away. Styles demands Mahal to get in the ring for their match right now.

- AJ Styles vs. Jinder Mahal: The match closes out with Styles nailing the Pele Kick and the fight goes outside. Styles brings it back inside, misses a corner charge and falls out to the apron. Styles hits a forearm on Mahal and then goes for the Phenomenal Forearm. The Singh Brothers distract the referee, allowing Kevin Owens to hit Styles with his US Title. Mahal hits The Coloss on Styles for the pinfall.
Winner: Jinder Mahal, by pinfall.

- The Fashion Files return with Fandango and Tyler Breeze. Breezango make fun of The Usos' sense of style and wardrobe. Breezango promise to capture the WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Championship at WWE Backlash and finish the segment with a freeze frame pose.

- Backstage, Randy Orton says that Jinder Mahal thinks the fans hate him because of the way he looks and talks. The fact is the fans hate Mahal simply because he's an ass.

- Breezango vs. The Colons: The match closes out with Fandango getting a near fall spin kick on Epico. Primo comes in and tosses Tyler Breeze outside, Fandango follows and tosses Primo outside. Epico gets a near fall on Fandango, but Fandango comes back, hits a Falcon Arrow and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Breezango, by pinfall.

- The Usos Promo: After the match, The Usos interrupt Breezango and stand on the stage. The Usos mock Breezango for doing what they do for likes, while The Usos do this for titles. The Usos welcome Breezango to the Uso Penitentiary where they make all the rules. The Usos issue Breezango a warning and promise to defeat them at WWE Backlash.

- Six Woman Tag Team Match Contract Signing For WWE Backlash: Shane McMahon hypes the Women's Division and this Sunday's Match before introducing all six women. Nattie, Carmella and Tamina immediately sign the contract and call their opponents pathetic. Becky says she would never join the Welcoming Committee, Naomi says the Welcoming Committee should be focusing on their next hair appointments. Charlotte tells the Welcoming Committee to bring all their problems on Sunday and she'll solve them. All three ladies sign their contracts. James Ellsworth grabs the microphone and says that he sees how Becky looks at him, knows Charlotte the Queen wants Ellsworth as his King and Carmella will steal Naomi's glow and her title. Naomi goes after Ellsworth and a brawl breaks out between the ladies. Shane breaks everything up and announces Carmella vs. Naomi right now.

- Carmella vs. Naomi: The match closes out with Naomi unloading on Carmella and hits a jaw breaker. Naomi counters getting sent to the apron by kicking Carmella. Nattie and Tamina try to distract Naomi, forcing the referee to throw them from ringside. Nattie and Tamina brawl with Charlotte and Becky instead, distracting Naomi. Naomi gets a kick in on Tamina, but then gets rolled up and pinned by Carmella.
Winner: Carmella, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Dolph Ziggler still doesn't understand the hype for Shinsuke Nakamura. Ziggler shows a video highlighting Nakamura's Smackdown Live career which shows nothing. Ziggler then shows a video highlighting his 8 year career in the WWE. Ziggler says he's ending Nakamura's career before it even starts on Sunday.

- Backstage, Sami Zayn announces he's battling Baron Corbin at WWE Backlash. Corbin attacks Zayn from behind and beats him down. Corbin tells Zayn that he needs to learn when to stay down.

- Randy Orton vs. Baron Corbin: The match closes out with Orton hitting a clothesline and the power slam. Corbin rolls to the apron and Orton sets him up for the hanging DDT. Orton hits it and goes for the RKO. Corbin counters, eats an elbow, but comes back with Deep Six for a near fall. Orton ends up hitting the RKO and scores the pinfall. After the match, Jinder Mahal appears and tells Orton to savor the victory and his WWE World Title because he will be destroyed on Sunday. The Singh Brothers attack Orton from behind and beat him down. Orton comes back and goes for a double hanging DDT on The Singh Brothers, but Mahal makes the save. Orton gets beat down and then laid out with The Coloss to end the show.
Winner: Randy Orton, by pinfall.
