On The Mark, 9.7.14: Buckeyes Recap

Not Ready For Prime Time: Buckeyes Embarrassed by Virginia Tech with 35-21 loss

By @MarkW2112

Even with a record crowd of 107,517 fans as well as LeBron James giving them a pre-game pep talk, the Ohio State Buckeyes inexperience and youth got the best of them.  Virginia Tech was just too much for them both offensively and defensively, leading to a 35-21 loss that showed the Buckeyes have a long way to go to become a competitive team.

The most glaring problem was the lack of pass protection from the young defensive backfield.  While the defensive front put pressure on VT quarterback Michael Brewer, he was still able to find wide open receivers, especially on third downs.  Brewer finished the night 23-of-36 for 199 yards with two touchdowns and 2 interceptions.  He was calm, cool and collected all night and was able to shake off some big hits by the Buckeyes defenders.  He did lose a fumble on a big hit by Joey Bosa, which led to the game tying touchdown on an Ezekiel Elliot run, but otherwise Brewer was on the mark (no pun intended)

J.T. Barrett, on the other hand, had a very difficult night.  Between his receivers dropping easy passes and his offensive line being blown up by the VT defensive front, Barrett looked like a freshman starting his first game under the big lights.  He was a horrific 9-of-29 for 219 yards with a touchdown and three interceptions.  He was also sacked 7 times and hurried on many others, including a pass that was intercepted and returned for a pick six to close out any rally chances near the end of the game.
The run game was also non-factor.  Barrett led all rushers with 70 yards on 24 carries. With exception to his excellent game tying run, Ezekiel Elliot was held in check most of the night along with Chris Samuel.

Michael Thomas led all receivers with 98 yards on 6 receptions, including a 58 yard touchdown catch in the third quarter.  Dontre Wilson did have the catch of the night when he was able to take the ball off the defenders helmet for a 40 yard reception. Corey Smith, who was targeted many times, had a night to forget, dropping many passes including a sure fire touchdown pass.
With the dropped passes, non-existent pass coverage and an offensive line resembling swiss cheese, it was an extremely long night for the Buckeyes and their fans.

Player of the game: Michael Brewer, who was able to stay calm in the face of an aggressive Buckeyes defensive line and find his receivers, wide open more times than not.

Goat of the game: No, this is not for Greatest of All Time. Sean Nuernberger missed 2 field goals and, after Elliot tied it up, had his kickoff go out bounds which lead the Hokies to take the lead back for good 28-21.

Runner up: Corey Smith who’s night consisted of dropped passes and badly run routes.

What coverage?  The Buckeyes defensive backs were nowhere to be found almost all night, leading to open receivers and many third down conversions for the Hokies.

What’s Next: The Buckeyes take on Kent State at the Horseshoe next Saturday at 12 PM.  Will Urban Meyer and the coaching staff make changes to try and steady the ship that is bringing in water?  It will be an interesting week in Columbus.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 9.6.14: Smackdown

By @BSA1978.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon is here, brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast. Today's edition is the Smackdown recap from last night.

A few days ago, WWE made an official announcement involving WWE Smackdown and where it will be on SyFy's official fall schedule. SyFy announced that their plans involve WWE Smackdown staying on Friday night and will not move to Thursday, as rumors originally stated a few weeks back. Now on to last nights recap, taking place in Lincoln, Nebraska.

- In Ring Segment: Smackdown kicked off with the 15 time World Champion, John Cena, making his way to the ring to cut a promo. Cena says he is ready for Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions and he's sick of people thinking that he is fragile and at the end of his career just because he was dominated at SummerSlam. He is a fighter and wants to be champion and the day that he doesn't want to be champion is the day he leaves forever. He will get his redemption at Night of Champions. Kane and Seth Rollins interrupt Cena and make jokes about Cena's career being over and compare him to a 50 year old man with a midlife crisis. Cena, Kane and Rollins trade more insults with each other when they are interrupted by Roman Reigns. Reigns says that this Monday he finishes his business with Randy Orton and since Orton isn't there tonight, then he wants Kane and Rollins. The lights go out and come back on and we now have The Wyatt Family with Kane and Rollins, surrounding Cena and Reigns. Chris Jericho, Big Show and Mark Henry arrive to even the teams at 5 and 5. Triple H comes out and announces a 10 man tag team main event for later tonight.

- Dolph Ziggler vs Cesaro: Sheamus is at the announcers table for this match. Cesaro goes for "The Neutralizer" on Ziggler. Ziggler counters the finisher and rolls Cesaro up for the pinfall. After the match Cesaro attacks Ziggler. Sheamus slides in the ring and tosses his U.S. Title to Cesaro. Cesaro is distracted with catching the title and gets a "Brogue Kick" from Sheamus.

- Backstage Segment: Stardust and Goldust cut a promo. The Usos are liars and The Rhodes Brothers want what The Usos have, the WWE World Tag Team Championship. The Rhodes Brothers will get what they deserve at Night of Champions.

- Jimmy Uso (w/Jey Uso) vs Heath Slater (w/Titus O’Neil): Jey is sporting crutches tonight, still hurting from The Rhodes Brothers attack on his knee Monday. Titus tries to interfer but gets superkicked by Jimmy. Jimmy delivers another super kick to Slater then flies from the top rope with the "Superfly Splash" for the pinfall.

- Pre-Recorded Video: A video of Stephanie McMahon cutting a promo from earlier today plays. Announces that after the actions of the Divas on Monday, Paige will defend the WWE Divas Championship against A.J. Lee and Nikki Bella at Night of Champions.

- Backstage Segment: Nikki Bella cuts a promo. Thanks Stephanie McMahon for this huge opportunity at the WWE Divas Championship. Is starting to realize what it's like to have a real sister now, thanks to Stephanie. Again blames Brie for ruining her entire life and will never accept Brie's apologies.

- In Ring Segment: Rusev and Lana come out to the ring to cut a promo. Lana says that if America had a heart it would be made in China. America is past its prime just like Mark Henry. Rusev, The Super Athlete, defines Russia. Mark Henry interrupts the Russian couples anti-American hatred. Henry says he's still waiting for Rusev to accept his challenge or is he going to just hide behind Lana....aka....his escort. Lana accepts Henry's challenge for Night of Champions. Henry promises to give Rusev a red, white and blue ass whooping.

- Paige vs Brie Bella: Nikki Bella and A.J. Lee are on commentary for this match. A.J. and Nikki begin fighting on the floor. Brie slides to the floor and tries to help her sister, almost getting counted out. Brie gets back in the ring and gets hit with Paige's finisher, allowing Paige to score the pinfall.

- Bo Dallas vs Zack Ryder: Dallas with the "Bo-Dog" for the pinfall. Dallas cuts a promo after the match. Says if Jack Swagger can turn his life around, than so can America. Swagger hits the ring and unloads punches on Dallas. Swagger goes for the "Patriot Lock" but Dallas escapes.

- "Ten Man Tag Team Match": Seth Rollins, Kane, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan vs Roman Reigns, John Cena, Chris Jericho, Mark Henry and Big Show: We have a brawl breakout in the end. Cena goes for the STF on Rollins but gets attacked by The Wyatts. The brawl continues after the bell is sounded with the baby faces all hitting their finishers. Smackdown closes out with Cena giving an "AA" to Rollins and celebrating.

And that wraps up this weeks Smackdown recap. More recaps come your way on Tuesday afternoon with the Jerry Springer edition of Monday Night RAW! Till then, tap or snap!

On The Mark: Ohio State vs. Virginia Tech Preview, 9.5.14

By @MarkW2112

Match up: Virginia Tech Hokies at Ohio State Buckeyes
Place: Ohio Stadium, Columbus Ohio
Time: Saturday, 9/6/14, 8 PM
Channel: ESPN

After an exciting 34-17 victory over Navy last Saturday, the #8 ranked Buckeyes are coming home for their first game at The Horseshoe in Columbus Saturday night at 8 PM on ESPN.  Thankfully, most of us will be able to see the game instead of digging through our channel guides to see where the heck CBS Sports Network was located (turns out if you have DirecTV you were able to watch it).

The young Buckeyes will be facing another young team in the Hokies.  Thankfully for the Bucks defense, they do not run a triple option offense.  But the offense and special teams will be facing "Beamer ball", with it's emphisis on special teams and defensive play making.  Will it be enough to defeat a very fast and talented Buckeyes team in prime time?

Who to watch: J.T. Barrett will be under the bright lights of his first nationally televised game.  Can he rise to the occasion and make the big plays he did in the second half of the Navy game?  It should also be a good test for Ezekiel Elliot and freshman phenom Curtis Samuel against the young Hokie defense.

Defensive stand: Will the defense make a stand and show that last weeks game was a fluke?  You have to know Joey Bosa is licking his chops to get to quarterback Michael Brewer, who threw for 251 yards and 2 TD's against William & Mary last week.  True freshman running back Shai McKenzie had a big game as well but the Buckeyes should be able to contain him as well as his fellow running backs.  The Buckeyes secondary need to keep themselves in front of the receivers and not miss tackles like they and the rest of the defense did against Navy.

Prediction: The Buckeyes win 37-20, lead by Barrett and the tandem of Elliot/Samuel with a much improved defense.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 9.4.14: TNA Impact

By @BSA1978.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast, returns with the TNA recap for the week. TNA Impact was taped in New York City this week. Which has been a staple for TNA the past couple months. The New York fans bring their A game every week and really make Impact a great experience.

- In Ring Segment: TNA World Champion, Bobby Lashley, MVP and Kenny King kick off Impact by gracing us with their presence. MVP grabs a mic and brags about Lashley. MVP says that not only is Lashley the TNA World Champion but soon he will be the MMA Bellator Champion. MVP claims that there isn't a single person in the building or even on the planet that can beat Lashley. Samoa Joe hits the ring with mic in hand and disagrees with MVP. Joe tells Lashley to put the belt aside cause this isn't what this is about. Joe calls MVP nothing but a hype man and challenges Lashley to see who the toughest is tonight. King runs his mouth to Joe and Joe pops him in the jaw. A brawl breaks out with Joe clearing the ring of the trio.

- "TNA Knockouts Title Match": Gail Kim (c) vs Taryn Terrell: Kim hits a neckbreaker on Terrell right on the ring steps that looked brutal. Kim hits "Eat Defeat" on Terrell but Terrell somehow kicked out at two and a half. Kim goes for another "Eat Defeat" but Terrell blocks it into a stunner. Terrell climbs the ropes and crossbody blocks Kim. Kim rolls through and cradles Terrell for the pinfall. Gail Kim retains the TNA Knockouts Title. After the match The girls shake hands and hug when suddenly a new knockout by the name of Havok arrives. Havok stares down both girls and takes them both out with a clothesline, choke slams Kim and takes both girls out with an "Air Raid Crash".

- Backstage Segment: MVP finds Eric Young in the back and tries to get EY to turn on Bobby Roode. MVP reminds EY that EY was once Roode's servant in order to keep his job in the past. EY says all of that is forgotten and he trusts Roode.

- In Ring Segment: Ethan Carter III and Rockstar Spud arrive in the ring. ECIII says he is sick of the fans still laughing at his Aunt Dixie Carter for being put through a table because she is a saint. ECIII says he's going to continue to attack Rhino until Bully Ray is terminated like he demands. ECIII demands respect because he's earned it. Rhino hops the ring barrier and jumps ECIII from behind. Spud pulls ECIII to safety as Rhino demands a match with ECIII tonight. ECIII says he's got a match but its against Spud.

- Backstage Segment: Gunner finds Samuel Shaw and wants to talk about last week. Shaw apologizes and says he just wanted to see what it was like to be a hero like Gunner. Gunner accepts the apology and tells Shaw to keep his mind on the match tonight. Brittany was in the background, watching and listening during the segment.

- Gunner and Samuel Shaw vs Magnus and Bram: Magnus clips Gunner's leg allowing Bram to roll Gunner up for the pinfall. After the match Shaw yells at Magnus, Bram and even the referee until Gunner calms him down.

- Backstage Segment: MVP finds Bobby Roode backstage and tells Roode that Eric Young hasn't forgotten about that time when Roode used Young to be his personal servant.

- "#1 Contender's Match for the TNA World Title": Bobby Roode vs Eric Young: EY hits the top rope elbowdrop and then goes for the piledriver. Roode backdrops EY then they both trade pinfall attempts. Roode catches EY and drops him with the "Roode Bomb" to score the pinfall. After the match Roode and EY shake hands and hug, showing how much respect the two have for each other.

- Backstage Segment: Bobby Roode says he's excited to be finally getting another TNA World Title shot. TNA World Champion, Bobby Lashley appears. Roode and Lashley stare each other down.

- Backstage Segment: Team 3D announce a "Tables Match" for their next match against The Hardy Boys and The Wolves. Bully says TNA tag team wrestling is back in TNA and Team 3D is adding another tag team championship to their resume.

- "#1 Contender's Match for the X-Division Title": Tigre Uno vs Crazy Steve vs Manik vs Homicide vs Low Ki vs DJ Z: A spot filled match throughout the bout. Homicide hits the "Cop Killa" on Manik for the pinfall. After the match, James Storm and The Great Sanada come out to the ring. Sanada super kicks Manik before shoving Manik out to the floor. Storm and Sanada take Manik hostage and drag him backstage.

- In Ring Segment: Austin Aries is in the ring for a promo. Aries calls out James Storm and The Great Sanada for what they did to Aries last week. Storm and Sanada arrive. Storm says Sanada has gone through a reawakening just like they will do to Manik now. Aries says that Storm has pissed off TNA and Sanada has pissed off Japan for accepting Storm. Aries says there is one other person here tonight that is pissed off at Sanada. Aries intros "The Human Buzzsaw" Tajiri. Aries and Tajiri brawl with Storm and Sanada and chase them from the ring.

- Backstage Segment: Rockstar Spud doesn't want to fight Rhino. Ethan Carter III says that if Spud wants to keep his job then he's doing it.

- Rockstar Spud vs Rhino: Rhino destroys Spud and scores the pinfall with the "Gore". ECIII, pissed, walks backstage after the match.

- "Champion vs Champion Match": TNA World Champion Bobby Lashley vs X Division Champion Samoa Joe: Joe gets the "Kokina Clutch" locked on Lashley. Kenny King tries to get involved but gets laid out by Joe. Lashley slams Joe and hits the "Spear" for the pinfall. TNA Impact closes out with Lashley celebrating in the ring.

And that wraps up this week's TNA Impact recap. More TNA action for you next week, right here with Wrestling Lockup with Brandon. Till then, tap or snap.

Around the B1G with K8, 9.4.14

By @ClvlndK8

Welcome to Around the B1G with K8! It was a good weekend for the Big Ten... 12-2 ain't too shabby!  No conference games yet but they'll be here soon.

Wisconsin had an opportunity to earn big points on the national stage and instead, fizzled in the second half to LSU. Oh well, there's always #7 Michigan State vs #3 Oregon this weekend to see if the conference can move up in the estimation of a college football system that thinks we've gone soft.

Ohio State, while getting the win and covering the spread, made quite a few fans (and most of my twitter timeline) crazy with shaky first half play vs Navy. Everyone - including ME - knew they were going to run the ball with that triple option they run so well, but our defense seemed to have no answer for it until late in the game. While many fans are freaking out (they're panicking, I can hear them) I think it's too soon for that. Relax and let Urb do his thing, Buckeye Nation!

Maryland is dealing with some behavioral issues, violations of the school's student code of conduct. WR Levern Jacobs #8 and Safety A.J. Hendy #19 have been suspended for the entire season. Jacob's (junior) is the result of a second-degree assault charge that came down last week over an altercation back on July 19th. Hendy (senior) was involved in the same incident but, as of today, no charges have been filed against him. While Jacobs was their #3 receiver and Hendy the backup safety behind Anthony Nixon, they were still expected to have impacts on the Terrapins season.

Penn State faces a surprisingly good opponent this weekend in the Akron Zips. Now, since I have a daughter going to Akron, I'll be rooting for them. The Nittany Lions squeezed by UCF 26-24 last week and the Zips took care of Howard 41-0. Yeah, not exactly a juggernaut of talent at Howard but still, the Zips have some offensive weapons to watch out for. Quietly creeping up the polls (29th) and trying to overcome the NCAA sanctions that crippled this team, they need to make the most of their schedule and beating Akron would certainly keep them on track to prove they are back. Oh yeah, and QB Christian Hackenberg is a serious Heisman contender. I'll keep telling you that every week until you start to listen!

When the big news in Nebraska is a competition at the long snapper position, it's been a slow week. Seriously. Senior Paul Kelly expected to continue his role when along comes freshman Josh Faulkenberry from Colorado and, dude, he won the job. Cleanly snapping for 2 field goals, 7 extra points and 2 punts in their huge win over Florida Atlantic last week (55-7!), Josh is making a case to keep the job. And to make it even more strange... you can get a Josh t-shirt. I kid you not. I guess they do know how to have fun in Cornhusker Land!

Michigan travels to Notre Dame this week, should be a good game. And that's all I have to say about that.

Respectfully Submitted,

Cleveland Kate

The Puck Drops Here, 9.3.14

THE PUCK DROPS HERE
By Chris Lulovics (@CLulovics)

Hello everyone and welcome to the first edition of The Puck Drops Here. Believe it or not the NHL season is quickly approaching and with that I will share with you all probably the best kept secret in Ohio.

Ohio does indeed have an NHL team. The Columbus Blue Jackets play their home games in Nationwide Arena in the heart of downtown Columbus in the beautiful Arena District. If you ever have the chance to take a trip down to Columbus I urge you to catch a game.

Nationwide Arena opened in 2000 on the site of the former Ohio Penitentiary. It holds 18,144 for hockey and can be expanded for other events such as basketball, concerts, and wrestling events. A horrible tragic event took place in 2002 when a young fan was struck by a puck that deflected over the glass killing her a couple days later. After that happened the NHL came up with the rule that all hockey rinks place a protective netting behind the goals in effort that nothing like that happens again. The area around the arena called the "arena district" has numerous restaurants and bars for before and after all events taking place. There are numerous hotels surrounding the arena and district within walking distance for weekend trips. Right across the street from the arena is Huntington Park home of the Columbus Clippers AAA team of the Cleveland Indians.

The Blue Jackets are coming off the 2013-2014 season on a high note. They finished 4th in the Metropolitan Division and clinched the 7th seed as a wild card team. In only their 2nd playoff season they found success against the powerful Pittsburgh Penguins. Even though they lost the series 4-2 they did manage to win their first ever playoff games and Nationwide Arena was the loudest out of any arena during the playoffs according to many national reporters and broadcasters. With the second youngest team in the NHL Columbus has a very bright future.

The off season for the Blue Jackets have seen them add Scott Hartnell via trade which saw R.J. Umberger go to the Philadelphia Flyers. Brandon Dubinsky signed a contract extension at 6 years worth $35.1 million keeping him in Columbus until the 2020-2021 season. The Jackets still have young phenom Ryan Johansen without a contract as his rookie entry level contract just expired. Johansen lead the Jackets in goals 33 and points 63 and was a point per game player in the playoffs. The good thing about Johansen is that the Jackets hold the rights to him as he is under a UFA and they have reported as saying they will match any offer sheet for him.

In the next couple weeks I will be giving you a preview of the upcoming season for the Blue Jackets along with the rest of the NHL as training camps open up and the season gets closer.

Leadoff with Lee 9.3.14

By @cleeverizon

-Despite a 2 a two run homerun by Carlos Santana, despite the Tigers being shutout from innings 3-8 and despite the Tribe heading into the top of the 9th with a 2-1 lead, J.D. Martinez hit a 3 run homerun to give the Detroit Tigers a 4-2 win at Progressive Field over the Indians. Carlos Carassco pitched 5.1 innings giving up 10 hits, 1 earned run and recording 10 strikeouts. The Indians pitching staff as a whole had 14 strikeouts for the game. Cody Allen have up the 3 run bomb in the top off the 9th to earn his 2nd blown save within a month and recording his 4th loss of the season. Tonight, Danny Salazar (5-6, 4.23 era) will face Detroit's Justin Verlander (12-11, 4.68 era). The Indians are 3 games behind Seattle for the last wild card spot. FYI: Indians tickets for the last 2 games of the Detroit series are going for as little as $10 on StubHub.

-Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert wants the NBA all-star game to return to Cleveland. The last time Cleveland hosted the mid season spectacular was in 1997. This is also when the NBA honored the 50 Greatest Players. If Cleveland can host the 2017 game, that will be officially 20 years since Cleveland had the festivities. And wouldn't it be nice to have all eyes on Cleveland with LeBron James having a all-star game in his own backyard? LBJ, Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving would all be in their 2nd year of max deals. Downtown Cleveland and the surrounding areas have a lot to offer and is growing with massive improvements and renovations. Casinos, new hotels being built, the soon revival of the East Banks of The Flats, the vast array of dining and culture throughout and the Republican National Convention coming to town. Things are looking good for the 'Land. New York and Toronto have the All Star festivities in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

-Weeks ago, Under Armour offered Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant a 10-year $265-$285 million dollar endorsement deal. Nike told Durant and his represenitives at Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports that they would match the Under Armour offer. Durant should make $41.2 million dollars more than what he is being paid by the Thunder over the next 2 years.

-Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was suspended by the NFL for the first 6 games of the season and also fined $500,000 dollars after pleading guilty to one count of misdemeanor OVI charges. Irsay was pulled over for eratic driving. Toxicology reports showed he had Xanax in his system. But he was also found with pill bottles containing large amounts of oxycodone and hydrocodone. Also having over $30,000 cash on hand. People may say "Well Josh Gordon got suspended a full season and only failed a drug test". I agree, but owners are not subject to the same collective bargaining agreement as players. Now the "average Joe" like me or you, if we would have been caught with as much weight as Irsay did, we would be doing time under the jail. Prime example of "Money will make your problems go away".

-Wes Welker has been suspended for the first 4 games of this NFL season for testing positive for amphetamines. Welker appealed the suspension 2 weeks ago but was denied by the league. Amphetamines is the parent compound of the drug ecstasy or as the kids call it "Molly". I guess Welker was on his "TURN DOWN FOR WHAT" ish.

-Star defensive end J.J. Watt and the Houston Texans have agreed on a 6-year contract extension that could net him a total of $100 million. The deal that kicks in on the final two years of his current contract will keep Watt in a Texans uniform through 2021. He is guaranteed $51.8 million, the highest amount for a defensive player in NFL history. The $16.6 million annual value is also the most for a defensive player ever.

-The Kansas City Chiefs signed quarterback Alex Smith to a 4-year, $68 million dollar contract extension, which includes a $18 million dollar signing bonus. His salary for 2014 is $1 million dollars, but spikes up to $11.9 in 2015,$14.1 in 2016,down to $10.2 in '17 and back up to $14.5 in '18. $2 million in roster bonuses in '17 and '18.

-Michael Sam was cut by the St. Louis Rams on Saturday, but is on his way to Dallas for a physical with the Cowboys. The NFL's first openly gay player is expected to be signed to the Cowboys practice squad pending his physical results. In related news, the WWE has invited Sam to the September 8th episode of Raw. I expect Sam to decline this offer especially if the Cowboys sign him to the practice squad.

-The NFL and the NFLPA have begun talks to raise the marijuana test levels for the next CBA. It's very clear both sides see the need for the change considering it is the lowest out of all competitive sports. If this was the NBA, MLB, Olympics or the United States Army, we wouldn't even have this issue.

-Browns, Directv, Raycom. Ok I have been corrected on my previous tweets by saying Directv NFL Sunday ticket subscribers will be able to watch the game this weekend despite the contract dispute between Raycom and DirecTV. After further research, I found out the since it is a AFC game and the visiting team is responsible for the national feed the game WILL NOT be available. Unlike baseball to where you can select the local or visiting feed for announcers on different channels. NFL guidelines state it is the visitors who are responsible. But don't feel bad Cleveland fans. There are other markets that are owned by Raycom and broadcast NFL football games that are going through the same thing. Raycom had this same issue with Dish Network last year around the same time and a resolution was found. Too much advertising money will be lost by Raycom if they don't strike a deal. Companies pay millions of dollars to have their commercials shown during football games. Fellow DirecTV customers just need to remain calm.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 9.2.14: WWE RAW

By @BSA1978.

Happy day after Labor Day! Wrestling Lockup with Brandon is here with another edition of RAW recap, brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast. Last night's RAW took place live in Des Moines, Iowa.

- Highlight Reel with Chris Jericho: Jericho kicks off RAW with the Highlight Reel. Jericho wishes everyone a happy Labor Day and announces his guest tonight, Randy Orton. Triple H, Corporate Kane, Seth Rollins and Randy Orton come out together. Triple H and Jericho trade verbal shots at each other. Triple H says he may be rethinking John Cena getting a rematch with Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions and possibly give it to someone else. Orton, Kane, Rollins and Jericho feel that they should be given a shot at Lesnar. John Cena arrives and enters the ring. Cena asks Triple H what the hell he's doing, says if he doesn't get his rematch that he's contracted to he'll take the WWE to court and take Triple H's job. Triple H can't believe Cena would do something that low. Rollins and Orton talk Triple H into letting Cena have his rematch cause there is "Plan B". Jericho mentions Orton getting beat down by Roman Reigns. Orton says he'll drop Reigns if he was in the ring right now. Roman Reigns arrives and enters the ring. Reigns dares Orton to drop him then throws his name in for a shot at Lesnar too. Triple H makes a six man main event with Cena/Reigns/Jericho vs Orton/Kane/Rollins and Triple H will see who can prove themselves. Rollins tries to hit Reigns with his briefcase but gets dropped by Reigns.

- Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler vs Cesaro and The Miz (w/Damien Sandow): Sandow interferes to take The Miz's spot in the match. Ziggler hits "Zig Zag" on Sandow. Miz capitalizes on the distraction and hits the "Skull Crushing Finale" on Ziggler for the pinfall.

- Video Segment with Nikki Bella: Supposedly Brie Bella stole Nikki's prom date in high school.

- "Six Diva Tag Match": Layla, Summer Rae and Naomi vs Rosa Mendes, Eva Marie and Cameron: Six Diva brawl breaks out and the match is thrown out.

- Big Show and Mark Henry vs Harper and Rowan: Rusev and Lana come out to watch the match. Henry goes for the "World's Strongest Slam" on Harper. Rusev enters the ring and super kicks Henry for the DQ.

- In Ring Segment: Paul Heyman arrives and talks about John Cena being destroyed again by Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions.

- Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter) vs Curtis Axel: Zeb Colter makes his return since being taken out by Rusev at SummerSlam. Bo Dallas comes out with three fans and watches from the stage. Swagger makes Axel tap out to the "Patriot Lock". Dallas congratulates Swagger then introduces Swagger to the three fans. All three fans were affected somehow by Swagger losing to Rusev.

- Adam Rose (w/Exotic Express) vs Titus O'Neil (w/Heath Slater): The bunny in Rose's posse beats up Slater after getting pushed down. O'Neil gets rolled up by Rose for the pinfall on the distraction.

- Video Segment with Nikki Bella: Supposedly Nikki took Brie's final exam, pretending to be Brie, to help her graduate.

- Rusev (w/Lana) vs Zack Ryder: Lana rips on the fans for celebrating Labor Day as another day to not work. Rusev makes quick work of Long Island Iced Z making him tap to "The Accolade". Mark Henry hits the ring and Rusev and Lana retreat. Henry says Rusev is scared, Henry says he is scared too....scared of what he'll do to Rusev. Henry says Rusev will be the first international inductee into the hall of pain.

- Backstage Segment: Triple H and Stephanie McMahon are backstage talking about the Nikki and Brie feud. Stephanie says she has an announcement for Nikki.

- In Ring Segment: Stephanie McMahon and Nikki Bella are in the ring. Stephanie tells Nikki she's proud of her and is the face of the Divas Division. Stephanie gives Nikki a shot at the WWE Divas Championship. Brie Bella comes out and asks her if this is what all this was about, being champion. Nikki begins to belittle Brie when A.J. Lee comes out. A.J. says she is the number one contender cause she never got her rematch. Divas Champion, Paige, is out next. Nikki tells Brie to quit for her like she did for Daniel Bryan, Brie refuses. Nikki tells Brie to walk away and leave her alone. Brie shoves Nikki to the mat and takes out Paige in the process. A.J. skips around with Paige's title and is ordered to give it back by Stephanie.  A.J. does and skips away.

- Video Segment: Bray Wyatt comments on his "Steel Cage Match" against Chris Jericho next week. Says its time for Jericho to pay for his sins.

- Goldust (w/Stardust) vs Jimmy Uso (w/Jey Uso): The Rhodes Brothers try to apologize again for their actions on RAW and Smackdown last week but get attacked by The Usos before the match. Wrestling Lockup with Brandon: Ronda Rousey/WWE?

By @BSA1978.

"Rowdy" Ronda Rousey in the WWE? It could happen.

A recent story broke this past week about UFC's Women's Bantamweight Champion "Rowdy" Ronda Rousey being interested in working with the WWE one day. The rumors started circulating a few months back than returned again as Rousey was present at this year's SummerSlam. Rousey wasn't alone at SummerSlam either. Rousey had her good friends MMA fighters, Marina Shafir, Jessmyn Duke and Shayna Baszler. The four ladies put together call themselves The Four Horsewomen.

The Four Horsewomen enjoyed the SummerSlam festivities, took pictures and hung out backstage with various wrestlers. While backstage, various reports stated that Rousey made a huge positive impression with WWE management and WWE would love to use her one day for a storyline.

Now before the whole SummerSlam backstage meet and greet between Rousey and WWE management, there was talk about Rousey a few months back. WWE kicked around the idea of using The Four Horsewomen at SummerSlam, however, at that time nothing was finalized because the key people in WWE knew nothing about UFC.

The Four Horsewomen arrived and impressed not only the key people of WWE but they also impressed Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie talked up Rousey and her friends after the meet and greet at SummerSlam and even included The Four Horsewomen in her Ice Bucket Challenge/Victory Over Brie Bella Celebration. Things are definitely looking good for Rousey and friends to possibly be involved with WWE one day.

The next obstacle would be the UFC and UFC owner, Dana White. With her current hectic schedule, which includes movie roles, workouts, UFC advertising and oh yeah defending her UFC Women's Bantamweight Championship, Rousey's plate looks pretty full at the moment. Also a lot would have to be done to win over the idea with UFC owner, Dana White. Dana has been known to shoot down ideas that he feels wouldn't benefit him or possibly cause negative feedback on the UFC. Right now Rousey is a great draw for UFC and could make good money for both WWE and UFC if Dana were to approve it. But how would Dana feel about using one of his stars in a WWE ring? Many think Dana would shoot the idea down quick, not wanting anything to do with the WWE.

So let's pretend that all parties are a go. How would WWE use Rousey? Would she actually wrestle a match? Would she be in someone's corner? Maybe a special referee? I think she would be a draw no matter how they use her. Wrestling wise I really don't think there is anyone that I could see challenge her in the current WWE Divas Division to make it look believable. So I'm thinking putting her as a special referee or maybe an enforcer in a very hot divas feud going on at that moment would work.

Like I said, no matter where they use her, it'll be a huge draw. Hopefully Dana White would agree and work out a deal with WWE for a one night only gig. Until that happens we'll just have to sit, wait and hope for the best.
