Wrestling Lockup With Brandon 9/20/17: Smackdown Live Oakland Recap

Smackdown Live was live this week in Oakland, California. Last week, Kevin Owens viciously attacked Vince McMahon after Vince announced that Owens would face Shane McMahon inside Hell In A Cell. Shane McMahon returned to run Smackdown Live this week, did Shane get revenge for his father??

** Smackdown Live Card **

- Randy Orton battled Aiden English.
- Randy Orton battled Rusev.
- WWE United States Champion AJ Styles defended his title against Baron Corbin.
- WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Champions The New Day battled The Hype Bros in a non title match.
- Charlotte, Naomi, Becky Lynch and Tamina battled it out in a Fatal Four Way Match to determine a new #1 Contender to the WWE Smackdown Live Women's Championship.

- WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion Nattie Neidhart holds a Celebration of Women.

- Kevin Owens is interviewed via satellite.

** Smackdown Live **

- Shane McMahon Promo: Shane gives his father credit for being one tough SOB, they've had their differences, but he'll always love his father. Shane promises Kevin Owens that the McMahon family will strike back with vengeance when they're attacked. Shane condemns Owens to vengeance, to a ruthless beat down and to Hell In A Cell. Shane drops the microphone and leaves to end the segment.

- Randy Orton vs. Aiden English: The match closes out with English grounding Orton and then hitting a boot in the corner on Orton. English goes to the second rope and leaps at Orton. Orton catches English in mid air, nails the RKO and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Randy Orton, by pinfall.

- After the match, Rusev interrupts. Rusev blames Orton for Rusev's family laughing at him and calling him a disgrace instead of a national hero. Rusev promises to rip the fangs off of the viper right now and then stalks to the ring. Orton accepts Rusev's challenge for right now.

- Randy Orton vs. Rusev: The match closes out with Aiden English distracting Orton. Orton knocks English off the apron, but eats a Rusev thrust kick. Rusev covers and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Rusev, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Rusev is interviewed. Rusev is excited and says he can return to Bulgaria as a conquering hero now.

- Jinder Mahal and The Singh Brothers Promo: Mahal says many were upset over what he said about Shinsuke Nakamura last week. Mahal shows more pictures of Nakamura on the TitanTron and mocks him. Mahal promises Nakamura that the fans will turn on him just like they turned on Mahal. Mahal ends the segment by speaking in Punjabi to the fans back home in India before leaving.

- Backstage, Shinsuke Nakamura is interviewed. Nakamura says that Jinder Mahal's promo was funny, but not as funny as it'll be when Nakamura wins the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

- AJ Styles Promo: Before Styles' title defense, Styles says that what Kevin Owens did to the McMahon family was dumb. Styles thinks that Owens will be lucky to make it out of the Hell In A Cell alive. Styles then turns his attention to Baron Corbin. Styles mentions all of Corbin's failures and promises that Corbin will fail again tonight.

- "WWE United States Championship Match": AJ Styles (c) vs. Baron Corbin: Before the match can even start, Corbin attacks Styles in the corner and beats him down. Tye Dillinger hits the ring and takes out Corbin's knee, sending him outside. Corbin gets back in the ring with his knee still hurting and goes after Styles. Styles unloads on Corbin and traps him in the Calf Crusher submission. Styles finally releases the hold and leaves Corbin clutching his bad leg.
Winner: No Contest.  

- Backstage, Baron Corbin is interviewed while limping around. Corbin says he feels violated. Corbin blames Tye Dillinger for costing him the US Title. Corbin says he won't bitch or whine about it, he's going to get even.

- Charlotte Promo: Charlotte thanks everyone for the thoughts and prayers for her father, Ric Flair. Charlotte learned that life is fragile and you have to make the most of it. Nattie Neidhart suddenly interrupts and heads to the ring. Nattie is glad that Ric is getting better, but now it's all about Nattie and her "Celebration of Women" segment. Nattie says tonight it's all about one woman who broke down barriers and helped nurture future generations. Nattie reveals a picture of herself in the middle of the ring under a cover. Charlotte says she's glad Nattie interrupted her for this because she wants a shot at Nattie's title. Becky Lynch interrupts and heads to the ring. Becky calls Nattie a crazy lady, she loves the Flair family, but the title is coming back to Becky. Naomi interrupts and heads to the ring. Naomi tells Nattie that the only thing she represents is stank cats and Naomi figured she'd throw in her name too for a title shot. Tamina and Lana interrupt and head to the ring. Lana calls Nattie a crazy cat lady and says that it's Tamina's turn for a title shot now. Smackdown Live GM Daniel Bryan interrupts next and announces Charlotte vs. Becky Lynch vs. Naomi vs. Tamina tonight with the winner facing Nattie Neidhart at WWE Hell In A Cell.

- The New Day vs. The Hype Bros: The match closes out with Ryder unloading on Big E and goes for a cover, but Kofi breaks it up. Mojo gets tossed outside, allowing Kofi to hit a suicide dive on him. The New Day hit Midnight Hour on Ryder and score the pinfall.
Winners: The New Day, by pinfall.

- Kevin Owens Interview Via Satellite: Owens first apologizes because he's not sure what came over him last week. He apologizes to the fans, the officials and the McMahon Family. Owens then places the blame on Shane McMahon because Shane had it coming. Owens claims that Shane disrespected him and Owens has nothing but respect for Vince McMahon. Owens claims that he suddenly was seeing visions of Shane McMahon when he shook Vince's hand, which made Owens snap and attack Vince. Owens ends the interview with another apology for what he's about to do to Shane McMahon inside the Hell In A Cell.

- Backstage, Mojo tells Zack Ryder that he's sick of losing and something drastic may have to happen for the losing to stop.

- Dolph Ziggler Promo: Ziggler says he's the greatest in ring performer in the WWE right now and then begins to mock more gimmicks from other superstars. Ziggler mocks Triple H's theme, Triple H and NXT. Ziggler next mocks Shawn Michaels' theme and Michaels. Ziggler next mocks the DX theme and everything DX stood for. Ziggler says no one cares about two old dads trying to act like teenagers, begging for people to like them. Ziggler says he's the best ever and the fans don't care, so Ziggler doesn't care about the fans. Ziggler walks out to end the segment.

- "#1 Contenders, Fatal Four Way Match": Tamina vs. Becky Lynch vs. Naomi vs. Charlotte: The match closes out with Tamina planting Becky with a Samoan Drop and then goes for the Superfly Splash. Tamina hits it, but Naomi stops the pinfall. Lana pulls Naomi outside, but Lana gets laid out by Naomi. Tamina attacks Naomi while she's distracted. Charlotte charges, drills Tamina with the Big Boot and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Charlotte, by pinfall, to become the new #1 Contender to the WWE Smackdown Live Women's Championship.
