Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 12.22.16: NXT Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you this week's NXT recap.

This week's NXT saw Billie Kay battle Daria Berenato in NXT Women's Division action. The Authors of Pain battled local talent in tag team action. The main event saw a #1 Contenders Fatal Four Way Elimination Match as Roderick Strong battled Andrade "Cien" Almas, Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode.

- Billie Kay vs. Daria Berenato: The match closes out with Daria going for a Superman Punch, but Peyton Royce pulls Billie to safety. Peyton attacks Daria from behind allowing Billie to hit a boot on Daria and score the pinfall. After the match, Billie and Peyton again send a warning to the women's division and inform NXT Women's Champion Asuka that her real competition is right here.
Winner: Billie Kay, by pinfall.

- The Authors of Pain vs. Two Local Talents: Another quick squash match by the AOP. Akum power bombs the man on top of his tag team partner and the referee stops the match, due to injury. After the match, Paul Ellering says it doesn't matter if DIY or The Revival win because The Authors of Pain are the next NXT World Tag Team Champions.
Winners: The Authors of Pain, by Stoppage.

- Backstage, Asuka warns Billie Kay and Peyton Royce to be careful for what they wish for. Nikki Cross suddenly appears and begins to laugh at Asuka.

- "#1 Contenders, Fatal Four Way Elimination Match": Rodrick Strong vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Tye Dillinger vs. Bobby Roode:

** First Elimination: Dillinger gets a near fall small package on Almas. Almas plants a boot on Dillinger, sending him into the corner. Almas nails double knees on Dillinger, but Almas gets hit with the Sick Kick by Strong afterwards. Strong covers Almas, scores the pinfall and eliminates Almas.

** Second Elimination: Strong and Dillinger trade punches until Strong hits a backdrop face buster on Dillinger for a near fall. Strong picks up Dillinger, but Dillinger escapes, nails the Tye Breaker on Strong and eliminates Strong by pinfall.

** Final Elimination: Roode counters the Tye Breaker and hits a Roode Spinebuster on Dillinger. Dillinger counters the Roode Bomb and nails Roode with the Tye Breaker, but Roode somehow kicks out at two and a half. Dillinger goes for a Super Tye Breaker off the ropes, but Roode counters and crotches Dillinger in the corner. Roode hits the Roode Bomb and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Bobby Roode, by pinfall to become the new #1 Contender.
