Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 12.20.16: RAW Columbus Recap

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you the RAW Recap for the week.

This week RAW was live in Buckeye Nation, Columbus, Ohio! Mick Foley announces WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens' next match at WWE Royal Rumble in January, with a special stipulation, to kick off RAW. Rusev battled Big Cass in a one on one match. Cedric Alexander battled Noam Dar in one on one Cruiserweight Division action. The New Day, Sheamus and Cesaro battled The Club and The Shining Stars in an Eight Man Tag Team Match. Neville explains his heel turn at WWE Roadblock. Sin Cara battled Titus O’Neil in a one on one match. New WWE RAW Women's Champion Charlotte battled Bayley in a non title one on one match. Main Event time saw WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho battled WWE United States Champion Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins in tag team action.

** RAW **

- Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho Promo: Owens says he would've done anything to keep his WWE Universal Championship, even take a Code Breaker from his best friend, Chris Jericho. Jericho says it may have hurt Owens, but it hurt Jericho too, knowing he did it to his best friend. Jericho and Owens share a Hug of Jericho, Jericho talks about Christmas and then puts Santa on "The List". Mick Foley interrupts, talks about Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins beating down Owens and Jericho at WWE Roadblock and officially announces a tag team match. Foley then announces that Owens will defend the WWE Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble against Roman Reigns and Jericho will be locked in a shark cage and elevated above the ring. Jericho gets inside the shark cage to test it out, Foley locks Jericho inside and then realizes he doesn't have a key. Foley orders for the cage to be raised above the ring with Jericho inside to get it out of the ring until he can find a key. Jericho flips out as he's trapped above the ring to end the segment.

- Backstage, Chris Jericho is finally free and is flipping out because he's afraid of heights. Kevin Owens tries to calm down Jericho, but it isn't helping. 

- Rusev vs. Big Cass: The match quickly ends in a DQ, as Cass traps Rusev in the corner, repeatedly stomps on Rusev without stopping and gets DQ'ed. After the match, Rusev kicks Cass in the knee and finally retreats.
Winner: Rusev, by DQ.

- Sasha Banks Promo: Sasha comes out in a knee brace and is using a crutch. Sasha says it pains her to say it, but the better woman won at WWE Roadblock. Sasha calls out Charlotte because she wants to congratulate her face to face. Nia Jax interrupts and says Sasha will never be "The Boss" to Nia, Sasha is weak and just a little girl. Nia kicks Sasha's crutch away, but Sasha fights back. Nia grabs Sasha, tosses her across the ring and then unloads on the injured leg. Nia picks up Sasha's crutch and leaves with it to end the segment.

- Backstage, Mick Foley congratulates Cesaro and Sheamus on their tag team title win at WWE Roadblock and presents them with new red strapped titles.

- Backstage, Braun Strowman is wrecking the backstage area as Mick Foley arrives. Strowman wants Sami Zayn, but Zayn has the night off and since Strowman is destroying things Foley gives Strowman the night off too.

- Cedric Alexander vs. Noam Dar: The match closes out with Dar missing a double foot stomp, allowing Alexander to hit a handspring spin kick. Alexander hits Dar with the Lumbar Check and scores the pinfall. After the match, Dar continues to make passes at Alexander's girlfriend Alicia Fox. 
Winner: Cedric Alexander, by pinfall. 

- The New Day Promo: The New Day state that they will not mourn over losing the tag titles, instead they will win them back. Sheamus and Cesaro interrupt and Sheamus says it's a new day with new champions. Sheamus and Cesaro begin to bicker with each other as Kofi wonders how they received new titles when they've only held them one day. Kofi then says he's glad they lost the titles to someone like Cesaro, but not Sheamus. Sheamus and Cesaro argue over who's better and Sheamus takes credit for ending The New Day's reign. Woods mentions all of The New Days accomplishments and knows Sheamus can't top any of that. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson interrupt next and take credit for beating down The New Day weekly and helping Sheamus and Cesaro win the titles. The Shining Stars interrupt next and offer time shares. Cesaro rips up the pamphlet and a brawl breaks out to end the segment.

- "Eight Man Tag Team Match": The New Day, Sheamus and Cesaro vs. The Shining Stars and The Club: The match closes out with Sheamus hitting a Brogue Kick on Epico, but Gallows hits a super kick on Sheamus. Big E sends Gallows outside and Anderson kicks Big E. Cesaro uppercuts Anderson and then Cesaro Swings Epico. Cesaro locks Epico in the Sharpshooter submission and makes Epico tap out.
Winners: The New Day, Sheamus and Cesaro, by submission.

- Backstage, Enzo gets a letter from WWE Corporate stating he must attend sensitivity training for exposing himself a few weeks back on TV. 

- Neville Promo: Neville says he destroyed Rich Swann and his buddy TJ Perkins at WWE Roadblock and the fans can shove their cheers. Rich Swann interrupts and asks why Neville did what he did. Neville says Swann doesn't respect Neville. Swann says Neville can't handle any of Swann. Brian Kendrick interrupts and agrees that Neville has been disrespected since the Cruiserweight Division was created. Kendrick and Neville attack and beat down Swann. TJ Perkins hits the ring, but gets knocked out by a Neville kick. Kendrick then lays out Swann with Sliced Bread #2 to end the segment.

- Backstage, Enzo attends his sensitivity training.

- Titus O’Neil vs. Sin Cara: The match closes out with Braun Strowman storming the ring and laying out Sin Cara and Titus. Strowman powerslams Titus on the floor, catches a flying Sin Cara and slams him too. Strowman carries Sin Cara to the RAW stage when Mick Foley appears. Foley tells Strowman to put Sin Cara down. Strowman tosses Sin Cara off the RAW stage.
Winner: No Contest

- Charlotte Promo: Charlotte says she'd call Sasha Banks out, but that isn't going to happen because she solidified herself by beating Sasha at WWE Roadblock. Charlotte says no one is on her level and then gets interrupted by Bayley. Bayley says she doesn't mean to interrupt, she wants to congratulate Charlotte. Bayley says Sasha vs. Charlotte was a great feud, but now it's time for Charlotte vs. Bayley to begin. Charlotte says Bayley will always be considered #4 in the Four Horsewomen faction and Bayley isn't good enough to face Charlotte. Bayley challenges Charlotte and that match takes place now.

- Charlotte vs. Bayley: The match closes out with Charlotte getting a near fall moonsault on Bayley. Charlotte argues with the referee and nearly gets pinned with a rollup by Bayley. Bayley and Charlotte battle for control on a backslide, until Bayley hooks Charlotte down and scores the pinfall. After the match, replays show that Charlotte got her shoulder up before the three count, which should have stopped the pinfall.
Winner: Bayley, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Enzo is in his sensitivity training role playing with Jinder Mahal. Enzo asks if it would be insensitive to slap Mahal. The instructor says yes.

- Backstage, Rusev and Jinder Mahal end up jumping Enzo and beating him down. Lana gets a slap in on Enzo and Rusev suplexes Enzo through the catering table.

- Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho: The match closes out with Reigns hitting a Superman Punch on Owens. Rollins hits a springboard knee on Jericho, but misses the Frog Splash, as Jericho gets his knees up. Jericho traps Rollins in the Walls of Jericho submission, but Rollins reaches the ropes. Braun Strowman suddenly hits the ring and beats down Reigns, causing a DQ. Strowman hits the running power slam on both Reigns and Rollins to end the show.
Winners: Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins, by DQ.
