- According to Kathy Kinser, the attorney for Johnny Manziel's ex-girlfriend Colleen Crowley, Manziel hit Crowley so hard that it ruptured her left eardrum. Manziel is the subject of a criminal investigation into the alleged assault that took place in the early hours of Jan. 30. Crowley spoke with Dallas police on Friday to file the complaint. A Dallas police spokesman said Monday there was nothing new to release. Crowley filed for a protective order last week in Tarrant County, Texas. The order was issued, and Manziel has to stay away from Crowley for two years.

Numerous athletes and front office personnel have offered to help Manziel or get him help. His family wants him to get help,A&M alum want him to seek help. But how can you help someone who doesn't want to be helped?

- The Browns rounded out their coaching staff Monday. The team has added Rock Cartwright (offensive quality control), Louie Cioffi (defensive backs), Ken Delgado (assistant defensive line), Johnny Holland (inside linebackers), Cannon Matthews (assistant defensive backs), Robert Nunn (defensive line), Eric Sanders (defensive quality control) and Ryan Slowik (outside linebackers) to Hue Jackson's coaching staff.

- A statement released Monday by Philadelphia police said that two off-duty officers, both 40-year-old black men and members of the city's police department, were involved in a fight with four black men, aged 26 through 30, around 2:45 a.m. Sunday in which the two off-duty officers suffered injuries. Police have confirmed to the Associated Press that Buffalo Bills running back LeSean McCoy, is one of the men under investigation. The officer spoke on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to publicly discuss the case. The argument took place inside the Recess nightclub in the Old City, started over ownership of a bottle of champagne. Police said that "pushing and shoving" over the bottle led to one of the off-duty officers being knocked to the ground, and while he was on the ground, he was "punched, kicked and stomped about his body and head multiple times by all four suspects." McCoy's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, did not immediately return a message from the Associated Press seeking comment Monday.

The Bills said in a statement Monday that they are aware of the report and are gathering information.

- Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch tweeted out during the Super Bowl that he was hanging it up, LITERALLY. For his career, Lynch will finish with 9,112 career Rush yards, 74 Rush TD  Super Bowl 48 winner. BOUT DAT ACTION BOSS. Monday afternoon his agent Doug Hendrickson confirmed that "Beast Mode" is indeed retiring, while Lynch's now former teammates Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman also tweeted Lynch.

- After going 1-9 over the last ten games, the New York Knicks and Phil Jackson decide to part ways with coach Derek Fisher. Under Fisher this season the Knicks dropped to 23-31 following a 101-96 home loss to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. Kurt Rambis will serve as interim coach for the remainder of the season according to Phil Jackson. Early favorites to land the job this summer would be Golden State assistant Luke Walton and former Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau.

- ESPN sources say that the Sacramento Kings are going ahead with a coaching change and plan to fire George Karl in the coming days. As one source has told me personally "The players of the Sacramento Kings have turned on George Karl". Which seemed strange considering he is a well respected NBA coach that has more wins than Phil Jackson. The dysfunction started with DeMarcus Cousins and Karl, but it has spread throughout the locker room. As this story unfolds, I will provide more information.

#Browns Recap 12.21.15: Browns @ #Seahawks

Russell Wilson and Doug Baldwin dominate Browns for a 30-13 win in Seattle.

The Browns started the game on offense, and went 80 yards on a 15 play drive that ended with a seven yard touchdown pass from Johnny Manziel to Gary Barnidge. Sounds pretty good huh? Well, the only problem was the Browns only gained 27 yards for the remainder of the half, and 150 total for the rest of the game. Manziel finished 19 for 32 161 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The running game that was so dominant last week only had 94 yards this week. The offensive line had another terrible day. Offensive lineman John Greco was lost to injury early in the game, and was replaced by first round pick Cameron Erving. Needless to say he had another uneventful day. For two drives in a row I only watched him and almost every snap he was overpowered. An off season in the weight room will be his #1 homework assignment. 

When facing a unit as talented as the Seahawks' defense it is almost guaranteed that if you don't have any playmakers you're not going to be successful. The Browns have a few guys who are solid NFL guys on offense (Travis Benjamin, Gary Barnidge, Duke Johnson), but I would not label any of them "special" or some one that deserves to be game-planned for. Combine that with a sketchy offensive line and an average quarterback and this is the type of performance that we should expect to see when facing top tier NFL talent. 

The elite and elusive Super Bowl winning quarterback Russell Wilson was in control of the game from the outset. Like Manziel, he led his team on a long opening drive touchdown. Actually, the Seahawks scored touchdowns on their first two drives, both scored by wide receiver Doug Baldwin. Wilson finished 21 for 30 with 249 yards and three touchdowns. Wilson and Baldwin are on a historic tear the past four weeks, and seem to have caught fire at just the right time of the season. Seattle went with the "running back by committee", but were led by Christine Michael who finished with 84 yards rushing. With their victory over the Browns, the Seahawks have clinched a playoff berth and still have a shot at winning their division. 

What hurt the Browns this week are the same things that have them all year: bad play by the offensive line, dropped passes by the receiving corps, little pressure from the defensive line, and terrible coverage by the defensive backs. The team wants to see what Johnny looks like for these final games, but without any weapons worth mentioning and always having to play from behind, we truly will not know just how good Johnny could have been this year. What we do know is this team will have more holes to fill this off season than they originally hoped. With Dwayne Bowe, Terrell Pryor, and Josh Gordon coming back next year we know they won't be drafting a receiver!

#Browns Preview 12.20.15: Cleveland Browns @ Seattle #Seahawks

The head coach stated that the quarterback he's preparing his team for is not elite, and the backup quarterback on his own team might be kicking field goals this week. Welcome to week 15 of the Cleveland Browns season. Most of the talk this week has been about the quarterbacks, Manziel and Wilson, but this game will be decided by the team who plays the best defense. I'm pretty sure we all know which team that'll be. 
The Browns are 3-10, out of postseason contention but in the running for the top overall draft pick.

With games against the Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers, losing out is almost guaranteed, which may not be the worst thing that could happen for the team.  Then again, with Johnny Manziel set to make his second consecutive start, he's potentially auditioning for the starting role heading into next season for the Browns or another franchise. Manziel will face his toughest opponent in his short career with Seattle having the second ranked defense in the league. Manziel played well last week completing 21 of 31 passes with one touchdown and one interception.





Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson is playing at a Pro Bowl level once again, tossing 16 touchdown passes and zero interceptions in the past four games, all wins. The Seahawks lost another running back last week and will now be going with the much used "running back by committee" method. This may put a bit more pressure on Russell, but going up against the 26th ranked defense in the NFL. 


There's no reason to think that the Browns have a chance to win this game unless you buy into the cliché "any given Sunday". The Seahawks have a better coach, offense, defense, and special teams. Maybe it won't be a blowout, but the Seahawks will win this one convincingly, 38-13.......okay, maybe it will be a blowout.

- The Browns announced quarterback Josh McCown has passed all tests in the NFL concussion protocol and is cleared to resume team activities. McCown returned to practice on Wednesday and will get the start Sunday against the Raiders. McCown was close to returning last week against the Titans,but failed one of the final tests administered by the independent neurologist Friday. In Mike Pettine's press conference yesterday he said "Josh McCown has done everything we've asked of him. We think he gives us best opportunity to win on Sunday."  "I solicited the opinions of Flip and Kevin (O'Connell) and we were all in agreement'' on starting Josh. Manziel was if he thinks the Browns still expect him to become the long-term starter one day, Manziel said, “I’ve been told, whether [it was] our GM, our owner, from everything that I’ve heard, that’s still the case.” 

- Seattle Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor ended his holdout and flew to Seattle on a private jet late Monday night to rejoin his team without a new contract. As of now he owes the Seahawks $2.1M in fines and salary/bonus forfeitures. I'm suspecting Chancellor's agent Alvin Keels will speak with Seahawks brass to get the fines reduced. Kam Chancellor said he'll handle business things (like a contract) after the season and believes he'll play Sunday. Seattle coach Pete Carroll told reporters, "I'm not going to talk about anything about any of the business of it all,you get nothing from us".

- Browns WR/KR Travis Benjamin was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week. Last week versus the Titans Benjamin had 6 punt returns for 154 yards, including a 78 touchdown return. He also had 2 receiving touchdowns for a total of 269 all purpose yards for the game.

- Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger beat out Tom Brady for AFC Offensive Player of the Week. He Threw for 369 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT in a 43-18 win over the 49ers. Brady threw for 466 yards vs. the Bills, most ever allowed by Buffalo.

- Darrell Revis was named AFC defensive player of the week. Revis forced 3 turnovers,had 2 fumble recoveries,and 1 interception.

- Larry Fitzgerald was named NFC offensive player of the week. He caught 8 passes for 112 yards and 3 touchdowns as Arizona defeated Chicago 49-23.

- Sean Lee was named NFC defensive player of the week. Lee recorded 14 tackles including 2 tackles for loss and a interception to secure the Cowboys a win.

- Cardinals rookie David Johnson was named NFC special teams player of the week. Johnson returned a kickoff 108 yards for a touchdown. He also had a rushing touchdown in the game.

- Browns offensive line coach Andy Moeller will not face charges in the alleged domestic violence case. According to the Berea prosecutors office they could not find that "Proof of the required degree of "Beyond a reasonable doubt" could be achieved. Moeller will meet with NFL officials next week to discuss the incident. The Browns said in a statement that Andy Moeller's suspension by the team remains indefinite. We will withhold further comment until appropriate time."

- Urban Meyer announced Cardale Jones will start Saturday at quarterback against Western Michigan. "It’s not him. The offense right now is in a funk", said Meyer. “He is the guy. Unless he doesn’t perform well.”

- Yankees Hall of Fame catcher Yogi Berra died at the age of 90 on Tuesday. Berra won 10 World Series titles as a player with the Yankees and 3 as a coach for the Mets (1) and Yankees (2). During his 19 year playing career he made the All-Star team 15 times. He was also a 3-time MVP and had a career batting average of .285, 358 home runs and had 1,430 RBI's. Yogi Berra was inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1972.

- Oklahoma City Thunder General Manager Sam Presti says Kevin Durant has been cleared to play in the upcoming season opener. "He's been playing without restriction, five on five, competing as normal", said Presti.

- The NBA extends travel breaks during the Finals to 2 days, to give players more rest between games. Under the new format if the finals were to go 7 games it would be take 20 days to complete.

- Free agent big man Austin Daye has agreed to one-year non guaranteed contract with Cavaliers. The 6'11" forward played 34 games last season with the San Antonio Spurs and Atlanta Hawks. Daye averaged 3.8 points per game and 2.2 rebounds, averaging about 10 minutes per game. He is expected to compete for a roster spot. Daye was 15th overall pick to Detroit in the 2009 draft out of Gonzaga. Daye's six seasons in the NBA have been with the Pistons, Memphis, San Antonio, Toronto and Atlanta.
