Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 8.9.16: RAW Results

By Brandon Albright, @B_Rock1978

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is back with this week's RAW Recap Edition.

This week's RAW was live in Anaheim, California. Two guests were invited to the show tonight by Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon. The first being Smackdown Live GM Daniel Bryan and the second being the famous R&B/Rapper Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs. What did Bryan and Puff Daddy have planned for RAW? Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens continued their feud with Enzo and Big Cass, as Jericho battled Enzo in one on one action. Braun Strowman faced another up and comer as he battled Jorel Nelson. Darren Young battled Titus O'Neil in a rematch from last week. Sheamus battled Cesaro in one on one action. The Dudley Boys battled Neville and Sin Cara in tag team action. WWE Women's Champion Sasha Banks battled Dana Brooke in a non title match. Luke Gallows of The Club battled Kofi Kingston of The New Day. In the main event, Cesaro pulled double duty as he faced Rusev for the WWE United States Championship.

*** RAW ***

- Enzo and Big Cass Promo: Enzo talks about spitting game on the WWE Women's Champion Sasha Banks last week, however, Chris Jericho interrupted things. Chris Jericho again interrupts and calls Big Cass Enzo's seven foot maid that cleans up his messes. Jericho says he has Kevin Owens watching his back now, as Owens appears. Owens says he used to like Cass back in NXT because just like Owens, Cass had that waste of space side kick, but unlike Cass, Owens got rid of his waste of space side kick. Cass wants to fight, but Jericho has a match lined up with Enzo instead.

- Chris Jericho vs. Enzo Amore: The match closes out with Enzo hitting Jericho with a near fall cross body. Kevin Owens grabs Enzo's foot and Big Cass runs over for the save. Jericho lays out Enzo with the Code Breaker during the distraction. Cass hits the ring and lays out Jericho with a big boot, causing a DQ. After the match, Big Cass challenges Jericho and Owens to a match at Summer Slam.
Winner: Chris Jericho, by DQ.

- Backstage, WWE Women's Champion Sasha Banks asks RAW GM Mick Foley to make her match against Charlotte at Summer Slam a handicap match so she can keep an eye on Dana Brooke. Foley says if Sasha beats Dana tonight then he'll ban Dana from ringside. If Sasha loses, it'll become a handicap match.

- Braun Strowman vs. Jorel Nelson: Strowman makes quick work of Nelson with a big clothesline and the reverse choke slam for the pinfall.
Winner: Braun Strowman, by pinfall.

- Backstage, Mick Foley and The New Day congratulate Puff Daddy on being the curator for WWE 2K17. Puff Daddy asks Big E. how his nuts are doing. Foley and Woods tell Puff Daddy he can’t say that on TV.

- Darren Young vs. Titus O'Neil: The match closes out with Titus hitting a short arm clothesline on Young. Young goes for a splash from the second rope, but Titus catches him. Young reverses it into a roll-up, grabs Titus' tights and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Darren Young, by pinfall.

- Seth Rollins Promo: Rollins says he is re-evaluating his position on Finn Balor, Balor is disrespectful and Rollins wants to know who Balor really is. Rollins says that Balor thinks he's winning the WWE Universal Championship and Balor has no right to question Rollins. Rollins says he doesn't need a fake name that Balor carries because Rollins is the man. Rollins guarantees he'll defeat Balor at Summer Slam and add to his already impressive resume.

- Sheamus vs. Cesaro: The match closes out with Sheamus and Cesaro trading punches on the top rope. Cesaro hits a drop kick on Sheamus and Sheamus accidentally hits the referee. Sheamus rolls up Cesaro, but the referee is still down. Sheamus releases the roll up allowing Cesaro to roll up Sheamus just as the referee gets up to score the pinfall.
Winner: Cesaro, by pinfall.

- The Dudley Boys vs. Neville and Sin Cara: The match closes out with Sin Cara hitting a springboard moonsault on Bubba. Sin Cara tags in Neville and Neville cleans house on The Dudleys. Devon accidentally clotheslines Bubba allowing Neville to hit the Red Arrow on Devon for the pinfall.
Winners: Neville and Sin Cara, by pinfall.

- Rusev and Lana Promo: Rusev brags about giving Lana the wedding she deserved, no one was invited in the WWE Universe cause it was VIP only, but we're in luck because they will celebrate their wedding ceremony for us. Lana calls Rusev the greatest man of all time. Roman Reigns interrupts and heads to the ring. Reigns says he noticed Rusev had no best man so he wanted to come out and toast the newlyweds. Rusev tells Reigns to leave. Reigns says that if he doesn't want a toast than at least accept his challenge for a WWE United States Championship match at Summer Slam. Rusev says no so Reigns makes fun of Rusev. Rusev attacks Reigns, but Reigns fights back and shoves Rusev into Lana, who goes face first into their wedding cake.

- Backstage, Rusev demands that Mick Foley do something about what just happened. Foley says Rusev can work out his frustration at Summer Slam when he defends the WWE United States Championship against Roman Reigns.

- Sasha Banks vs. Dana Brooke: The match closes out with Dana hitting a huge clothesline out of the corner on Sasha. Charlotte tries to get involved and let's a slap fly. Sasha dodges the slap and Charlotte hits Dana on accident. Sasha lands a kick on Charlotte and then hits the jumping double knee strike on Dana to score the pinfall.
Winner: Sasha Banks, by pinfall, Dana Brooke is banned from ringside at Summer Slam.

- Luke Gallows vs. Kofi Kingston: The match closes out with Kofi hitting a dropkick and sending Gallows outside. Kofi hits a suicide dive and takes out Gallows. Back in the ring, Kofi gets distracted as Karl Anderson gets Kofi's attention. Gallows hits a flapjack on Kofi and scores the pinfall. After the match, The Club try to send Kofi crotch first into the ring post, but Xavier Woods makes the save with steel chair in hand.
Winner: Luke Gallows, by pinfall.

- Mick Foley and Daniel Bryan Promo: Foley wants Bryan to apologize for letting Randy Orton invade RAW last week. Bryan apologizes, however, Foley tells Bryan to cut the crap because he heard the remarks Bryan made making fun of the WWE Universal Championship. Foley says the title was created because RAW deserves a world title. Rusev interrupts and says that he is the true champion of RAW. Cesaro interrupts next and demands a WWE United States Championship match against Rusev. Bryan likes that idea because in his opinion, Cesaro has been underutilized on Raw. Foley tells Bryan to mind his own business and makes a WWE United States Championship match between Rusev and Cesaro right now.

- "WWE United States Championship Match": Rusev (c) vs. Cesaro: The match closes out with Cesaro swinging Rusev and then locks Rusev in the Sharpshooter submission. Sheamus hits the ring, but Cesaro sends Sheamus flying off the apron. Rusev lands a thrust kick on Cesaro and gets a near fall. Cesaro hits The Neutralizer on Rusev, however, Sheamus knocks out the referee. Sheamus connects with a Brogue Kick on Cesaro and Rusev follows that with a thrust kick to Cesaro. Rusev covers and scores the pinfall as the referee comes to. After the match, Roman Reigns hits the ring and spears Rusev to end the show.
Winner: Rusev, by pinfall, to retain the WWE United States Championship.

3 Rivers Rundown: 7 Is The Gateway To NFL Immortality

By Jaison Roberts, @Kratoslives

As the Pittsburgh Steelers set out to start the NFL 2016 season, something should be on the minds of fans and the NFL.

If the Steelers win their seventh Lombardi Trophy, they will be widely viewed as the New York Yankees of the NFL. They will represent everything the NFL wants it's fans to believe in. That any team, no matter what city, big or small, your team is in it every year.

With a group of wide receivers that can do anything on the field, this team's aerial attack may become historic, especially with Antonio Brown leading the charge. He alone with Big Ben staying healthy may be the NFL's first 2000 yard receiver. He has proven that he can't be covered all the time, whether its in single or double coverage. Also with second year receiver Sammie Coates and Darius Heyward-Bey stretching the field, Brown and Markus Wheaton will be open for quick hitters. Even with the retirement of Heath Miller, this offense may be just to much for the league to handle.

The run game isn't going to be any type of cupcake either. With Le'Veon Bell and DeAngelo Williams, they are going to force defensive coordinators into cold sweats. In my opinion, you are looking at the best overall back in the league when on the field in Bell. The only thing that seems to stop him are horse collar tackles and drug suspensions. Bell might miss the first four games this season, but could win his appeal on August 18, and be ready to go in Week 1. This could be scary for other teams but with Williams' rebirth at the age of 33, there should be no offensive worries.

Future Hall of Fame Ben Roethlisberger is showing no signs of letting up either. Even though he can't run like he used to, his mind has sped up and he now carves up your defense from the neck up. So other than bringing his new tight ends up to speed, Jesse James and Ladrius Green, he will be driving a Bugatti-type custom-made offense, just for him.

Now to the defensive side of the ball, which was last year's albatross, mainly the secondary. It will be extremely difficult to handle with a very disruptive front seven led by defensive ends Cam Heyward and Stephon Tuitt. Tuitt has become just as violent at the point of attack as Cam and they both get after your quarterback with a vengeance. The linebacker crew is on the way up, once again led by "Deebo" aka James Harrison and Lawrence Timmons. They had the third most sacks in the league last year, even though no one had more than 7 sacks.

The secondary is rebuilt with young talent, other than seven-year veteran free safety Mike Mitchell. This unit will be tested early and often this year. Which also could be a make or break year for defensive backs coach Carnell Lake. If this unit can't produce take aways, I feel that Coach Lake is gone.

So with the first preseason game coming this Friday (versus the Detroit Lions), answers should start to be given to fans as the ride to immortality and title number seven.

*** WWE ***

- Brock Lesnar Returns: This past week on RAW, Brock Lesnar returned to begin his feud with Randy Orton for Summer Slam. Orton got the first shot in as he attacked Lesnar from behind and hit the beast with an RKO. Lesnar got his revenge though as he attacked Orton after invading Smackdown Live.

- Paul Heyman Re-Signs: The master on the microphone, Paul Heyman did in fact appear with Brock Lesnar this past Monday on RAW as The Beast's mouthpiece. Sources have said that Heyman has finally signed a new contract.

- Jinder Mahal Signed To RAW: This past week on RAW, Jinder Mahal returned to the WWE and defeated his best friend Heath Slater to earn a WWE contract.

- New Women's Championship In The Works: Smackdown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan recently stated that WWE is working on another WWE Women's Championship that will be the sole property of Smackdown Live. As of now the current WWE Women's Championship is on RAW only. Bryan says that the WWE is taking its time and not rushing the reveal because they want to do it right.

- UFC's Conor McGregor Rips Brock Lesnar And The WWE: UFC fighter Conor McGregor was interviewed this week and took shots at Brock Lesnar and the WWE for his recent failed drug tests.

"I haven't really thought about it. For the most part, those WWE guys are p*ssies. To be honest, they're messed up p*ssies, if you ask me. Fair play to Brock, he got in a fight but at the end of the day he's juiced up to the f**king eyeballs so how can I respect that?"

McGregor then stated that he has no issues with The McMahon Family, Triple H or The Rock. As for CM Punk, McGregor is still waiting for Punk to prove himself.

- King Of The Ring Possibly Returning: It was announced that WWE filed two trademark applications last week for "King of the Ring" according to Trademarkia, one trademark was for "a show about professional wrestling" while the other was for "Computer software, namely, software for the creation of mobile internet applications and client interfaces." It appears as if WWE will be using the name for a RAW or SmackDown branded pay-per-view next year.

- Alberto Del Rio Comments On Rumors Of Unhappiness In The WWE: Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter noted in their latest issue about Alberto Del Rio's unhappiness in the WWE and stated that Del Rio has an out clause in his contract in September. Del Rio recently made his comment on the rumors currently circulating in the wrestling world about WWE and TNA wanting to sign Del Rio.

"At the end of the day you can love what you do, but you have to be rewarded. If somebody wants to have me in their organization, they have to pay me, and there is no other place like WWE, which is a major league of progress and growth. TNA does not have the wherewithal as WWE does."

- Former NFL star Brennan Williams Signs With The WWE: WWE announced the signing of former 2013 third-round NFL draft pick Brennan Williams. Williams is 6-foot-7, 300 pounds and has a black belt in taekwondo. Williams signed with the WWE on Monday and has reported to the Performance Center in Orlando to start his training. Williams was drafted by the Houston Texans, but missed his rookie season after a knee injury. Williams was then released in training camp in 2014. He was in training camp with the Jacksonville Jaguars and then spent two days on the New England Patriots practice squad. After again being released, Williams went to Houston to train with Booker T and debuted in February under the ring name Marcellus Black. Days after his debut, he took part in a tryout at the Performance Center.

- Roderick Strong Possibly WWE Bound?: Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio, that he's more than certain that former ROH World Champion, Roderick Strong, is headed to the WWE. Strong was an ROH icon, wrestling within the promotion from 2003 to 2016. Strong has also wrestled for PWG, TNA, Full Impact Pro and Pro Wrestling Noah.

- Nikki Bella Update: While Nikki has been training at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, she has not been medically cleared to return to action as of yet. Sources are saying that due to her neck injury, Nikki would only be able to work a part-time schedule if she is cleared. Many think she'll end up on Smackdown Live if cleared to wrestle.

- Ryback Finished: Ryback recently tweeted out a thank you to all the fans and stated that his contract has expired and he's officially finished working with the WWE.

- Bray Wyatt Injured: WWE have recently stated that Bray Wyatt rolled his ankle during Tuesday's WWE SmackDown Live main event against Dolph Ziggler. After the match ended, the referee threw up the "X" symbol that signals a legit in ring injury, but Wyatt didn't want to stop and didn't want help from trainers. Dave Meltzer confirmed on Wrestling Observer Radio that Wyatt sprained his ankle. Wyatt was still planning on working weekend WWE live events, but If he does miss this weekend's matches, that could indicate that the injury is serious. Meltzer also confirmed that WWE wanted Wyatt to stop the match on Tuesday night but he refused.

- Paige Injured: Sources have said that Paige has been taken off the upcoming Australian tour due to back and shoulder injuries. Paige is expected to be out of action for two weeks, maybe longer.

- Jimmy Uso Injured: Sources have said that Jimmy Uso missed Smackdown Live this week due to an unknown injury. It's still unknown when Jimmy will be back.

- Big Show vs. Shaq: Sources are saying that Big Show vs. Shaq at Wrestlemania 33 is all but signed for the grandest stage in the wrestling business. Both Show and Shaq have been vocal about the match and have said that it is definitely happening.

- Puff Daddy On RAW Tomorrow: WWE announced this week that Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs will be guest hosting RAW tomorrow night. This will be Puff Daddy's first appearance since appearing at Wrestlemania 29 three years ago.

- Daniel Bryan On RAW: WWE announced that RAW GM Mick Foley has invited Smackdown Live GM Daniel Bryan an opportunity to attend RAW tomorrow. Bryan has accepted and will be there.

- Lilian Garcia Leaving WWE: Longtime WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia announced Monday that she's leaving the WWE to spend time with her father, who is suffering from multiple types of cancer. Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 8.4.16: NXT Results #NXT

By Brandon Albright, @B_Rock1978

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, is here with your NXT Recap Edition.

This week's NXT took place at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. Hideo Itami kicked off NXT in one on one action against Sean Maluta. Mojo Rawley battled Chris Atkin. NXT Women's Champion Asuka battled Aliyah. Former TNA World Heavyweight Champion Bobby Roode finally makes his NXT debut. NXT World Tag Team Champions, The Revival battled TM61 in a non title match in the main event.

*** NXT ***

- Hideo Itami vs Sean Maluta: The match closes out with Maluta hitting a diving headbutt on Itami and then unloads a series of kicks. Itami hits a lariat on Maluta and then follows that up with the KENTA combo. Maluta crawls to the corner and gets crushed with an Itami leaping hesitation drop kick. Itami hits the Busaiku Knee and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Hideo Itami, by pinfall.

- Backstage, the NXT World Tag Team Champions, The Revival, state that they are the greatest tag team in NXT. TM61 interrupt and challenge the champs, but they are told to get to the back of the line. Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano interrupt and say they are the #1 Contenders, they are next in line and The Revival are dodging them. The Revival says they already promised TM61 a match, they'll just have to wait.

- Mojo Rawley vs. Chris Atkin: Rawley immediately hits the pounce and goes for a cover. An angry Samoa Joe hits the ring and attacks Mojo and Atkin, leaving both men laid out. Joe grabs a microphone and says that since NXT GM William Regal doesn't want to consult Joe, than Joe doesn't have to consult Regal before ruining his show. Mojo is back up and attacks Joe. Joe chases Mojo up the ramp, attacks Mojo and locks Mojo in the Coquina Clutch submission.
Winner: No Contest

- Backstage, Bayley says that she's not the same person she was when Asuka beat her at NXT Takeover: Dallas. Asuka interrupts and says if she's ready than come watch her match.

- Asuka vs. Aliyah: Bayley is on commentary for this match. Asuka toys with Aliyah throughout the match and stares at Bayley. The match closes out with Asuka trapping Aliyah in an octopus hold submission. Aliyah manages to land a kick on Asuka and goes to the top rope. Aliyah leaps off the top rope, but eats a big Asuka kick in the face. Asuka locks Aliyah in the Asuka Lock and makes Aliyah tap out. After the match, Asuka keeps the submission locked in. Bayley gets in the ring, Asuka immediately releases the submission and goes face to face with Bayley.
Winner: Asuka, by submission.

- Bobby Roode Promo: Roode says the wait is finally over, Roode realized that NXT was the place for him and in order for NXT to continue to thrive, they need Bobby Roode. Roode says that now that he has arrived the fans will consist of presidents and CEOs, not unwashed, fat losers. Now that Bobby Roode is here, NXT will be glorious.

- The Revival vs. TM61: The match closes out with Dawson and Wilder working over Thorne's shoulder. Wilder dives off the second rope, but gets kicked in the face by Thorne. Thorne tags Miller in and Miller hits a spine buster on Dawson for a near fall. Dawson hits Miller with a DDT and scores the pinfall. After the match, Dawson and Wilder say they are the best tag team in the world. Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano interrupt and again remind The Revival that they haven't beat them yet. The Revival attack Ciampa and Gargano, but Ciampa and Gargano hit their double team finisher on Wilder. Gargano covers Wilder and Ciampa makes a three count like a referee. Ciampa and Gargano celebrate with the titles to close the show.
Winners: The Revival, by pinfall.
