Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 8.23.14: Smackdown

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon is here again and as always brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast. Going to kick things off with some NXT news. WWE COO, Triple H, announced that NXT will hold their third annual pay per view on Patriot Day, September 11th, entitled Takeover 2. Triple H also announced that NXT will be getting a new general manager within the camp and his first order of business will be to oversee the special event. The following matches have been announced for the special event.

- "NXT World Title Match": Adrian Neville (c) vs unannounced opponent
- "NXT World Tag Team Title Match": The Ascension (c) vs current tournament winners
- "NXT Women's Title Match": Charlotte Flair (c) vs Bayley
- "Hair vs. Hair Match": Enzo Amore vs Sylvester LeFort
- (Rumored but not official): Mojo Rawley vs Bull Dempsey

It was announced earlier this week that former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan, will now need to have "Tommy John" surgery and will be out of action another 3 months. Sources are saying they don't expect to see Bryan back till Royal Rumble time now.

Sources are saying that former WWE superstar, Alberto Del Rio, is already being offered a spot on the TNA roster once his no compete clause expires. Del Rio is currently working back with AAA wrestling down in Mexico. Del Rio was released from WWE a few weeks back for slapping a backstage worker after a verbal disagreement took place.

Moving on to this week's Smackdown recap. Smackdown took place in Daniel Bryan's hometown of Phoenix, Arizona.

- In Ring Segment: Randy Orton comes out to the ring to cut a promo. Orton says he's never been called a quitter and Roman Reigns will get what he deserves. Orton says his opponent tonight is Rob Van Dam and RVD is just collateral damage. Orton says his focus is back and he'll take what he wants.

- Seth Rollins vs Jack Swagger: Swagger gets the "Patriot Lock" applied on Rollins on the floor. Rollins escapes and shoves Swagger into the ringpost. Rollins hits the "Curb Stomp" on Swagger outside the ring and Swagger gets counted out.

- Rusev (w/ Lana) vs Sin Cara: Sin Cara eats a big thrust kick from Rusev then is locked in "The Accolade". Sin Cara taps out. After the match Mark Henry interrupts the Russian couples promo. Henry says that he guesses that they didn't get the message that he delivered. Henry gets in Rusev's face but Rusev backs down and leaves the ring.

- Backstage Segment: Rob Van Dam cuts a promo. RVD says Randy Orton wants respect, is worried about Roman Reigns but Orton needs to be worried about RVD. Orton suddenly blindsides RVD and lays him out. Orton says he'll be waiting in the ring when RVD wakes up.

- Randy Orton vs Rob Van Dam: Orton gets DQ'ed as he tossed RVD into the ring steps and then into announcers table. After the match Orton hangman DDT'ed RVD off the barricade, taunts RVD's pose then hits RVD with the "RKO" on a chair.

- Backstage Segment: Roman Reigns cuts a promo. Reigns says he hopes Randy Orton comes after him cause if Orton wants to continue to fight Reigns is fine with it. Reigns says he'll kill the legend of Randy Orton.

- Paige vs Nattie Neidhart: A.J. Lee skips out to the ring and steals Paige's Divas Championship. A.J. poses on the stage with it and Paige makes a B-Line towards A.J. Paige grabs for her title then runs back to the ring where Nattie takes Paige down and locks in the "sharpshooter". Paige taps out as A.J. smiles and skips away.

- Stardust and Goldust vs Rowan and Harper: Harper gets distracted in the match and rolled up by Goldust for the pinfall. After the match The Wyatt Family throw Stardust into the ring post then lay Goldust out with a big boot.

- Roman Reigns vs The Miz: Randy Orton makes his way to the ring in the opening part of the match. Orton teases and interference but doesn't do it. Reigns spears Miz for the pinfall. After the match Reigns dares Orton to get in the ring. Orton gets in the ring and we have a brawl break out. Orton and Reigns toss each other into the barricade and commentary table. Orton hits Reigns with a chair and Reigns does the same to Orton after blocking an "RKO". Reigns drops Orton with the "Superman Punch" and Orton leaves the ring. Smackdown ends with Reigns staring down Orton.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon 7.8.14: WWE Raw

RAW recap baaabbbbyyyy!! As Chris Jericho would say.

Welcome back to Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat Podcast. It's time for this week's RAW recap, as we move closer to WWE Battleground.

- RAW kicked off live from the city that brought you the "Montreal Screwjob" in 1997, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, with Roman Reigns cutting a promo. Reigns talks about WWE Battleground and being added to the Fatal 4 Way as being a way for The Authority to help Randy Orton win the title by putting pressure on John Cena. Reigns guarantees a World Title win as Kane interrupts. Reigns and Kane begin brawling inside and outside of the ring, after Reigns calls Kane "The Authority's bitch". WWE officials hit the ring. Reigns spears an official during the chaos then "Superman Punches" Kane off the apron.

- We find out during the opening segment that Triple H and Stephanie are not here tonight.

- The Usos vs The Wyatt Family. The Usos go for a double dive on The Wyatt's however one of The Usos get pulled to the floor by Rowan. Harper hits the clothesline on the other Uso for the pinfall.

- "One Hand Tied Behind The Back Match": Alicia Fox vs Nikki Bella. The referee ties Nikki's arm behind her back however Alicia avoids the referee and ends up attacking and stomping Nikki, not letting up. The match is thrown out.

- Rob Van Dam vs Rusev. RVD goes for "Rolling Thunder" but misses. Rusev hits his super kick then locks RVD in "The Accolade". RVD tries to fight it but taps out.

- Randy Orton vs Dean Ambrose. Ambrose almost scores the pinfall after reversing Orton's draped-DDT. Orton ends up hitting an "RKO" for the pinfall.

- Alberto Del Rio vs Dolph Ziggler. Fandango, who has an issue with Ziggler now, is doing commentary.
Del Rio scores the pinfall on Ziggler, after Fandango distracted Ziggler by dancing. Del Rio earned a United States Championship Match against Sheamus. Fandango danced on the announcers table more after Ziggler lost.

- WWE Hall of Famer, Bret Hart, returns to the city that he was screwed in back in 1997. Bret thanks the fans and says if he could still wrestle he'd do it right here in Montreal. Damien Sandow interrupts Bret dressed like Bret Hart. Sandow imitated Bret and called Shawn Michaels his idol. Bret finally heard enough as he sends Sandow flying out of the ring with a punch.

- Sheamus vs Damian Sandow. Sandow tries to wrestle like Bret Hart, performing moves from Bret's arsenal. Sheamus hits the "Brogue Kick" for the pinfall.

- Chris Jericho vs The Miz. Miz is stomping away on Jericho when out of nowhere, Jericho grabs Miz. Jericho flips Miz on his back and locks in the "Walls of Jericho". Miz eventually taps out. After the match the lights go out and when they come to, Bray Wyatt is sitting in his rocking chair on the ramp. Bray mocks Jericho and says he is still waiting for Jericho to "save" him. Jericho tells Bray to shut the hell up and action speaks louder then words and he's going to prove it. Jericho heads up the ramp to meet Bray. The lights go out again and when they come to again, Rowan and Harper are standing beside Bray. Jericho thinks twice about attacking in a 3 on 1 and backs off.

- Funkadactyls vs. Paige & AJ Lee. Cameron tags into the match and gets hit by Paige with the "Paige Turner" for the pinfall. After the match, we have a CAAATTTFFIIGGHHTTT!!!! as ECW announcer Joey Styles would say. Cameron and Naomi pull hair and fight until Cameron finally walks off.

- Cesaro vs Kofi Kingston. Kofi again for the second week in a row scores a roll up pinfall on Cesaro. After the match Cesaro attacks Kofi. Big E hits the ring and makes the save, chasing off Cesaro.

- El Torito vs. Bo Dallas. Obvious squash match as Dallas picks up the pinfall with the "Bo-Dog" and stays undefeated. Don't Stop Bo-Leiving!!!!

- John Cena vs. Seth Rollins. The match ends as Kane heads to the ring. Randy Orton appears out of no where and attacks Cena from behind as he's watching Kane. Kane and Orton beat down Cena until Roman Reigns hits the ring. Reigns "Superman Punches" Kane and Orton but then gets hit with the MITB briefcase by Rollins. Rollins hits Cena with the briefcase and is ready to cash in his contract. Before we have a legit match, Dean Ambrose hits the ring and attacks Rollins. Ambrose and Rollins brawl to the back. Cena hits an "AA" on Orton and Reigns spears Kane. RAW ends with Cena and Reigns raising each others hands.

WWE Battleground Card Currently:
**** "Fatal 4 Way, WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match":
John Cena (c) vs Randy Orton vs Roman Reigns vs Kane.
**** "WWE Intercontinental Championship Battle Royal": Winner is crowned new I-C Champ.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 6.28.14: WWE Smackdown

It's the last Smackdown event before this Sunday's "special event", Money in the Bank. We will see a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion crowned, finally, and we will have a new Money in the Bank briefcase holder. The briefcase holding a contract for a future WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match anytime, anyplace. Let's get this week's Smackdown recap started.

- Smackdown kicked off with Triple H, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins cutting a promo. Triple H talks about the different eras in WWE history and calls this the Authority Era. Triple H claims that Orton will win the title and Rollins will win the briefcase because that is what's best for business. Orton and Rollins both agree. Rollins mentions winning the briefcase will be a "Plan B" in case Orton can't get the job done, which Orton takes offence to. Orton tells Rollins that he can't win without The Shield. Triple H finally steps in and ends the bickering and tells them that they need to trust each other.

- Bad News Barrett vs Dean Ambrose. Match closes with Barrett going for a pumphandle slam that Ambrose counters into "Dirty Deeds" for the pinfall. After the match Jack Swagger hits the ring and attacks Barrett. Ambrose suicide dives into Swagger and then hits him with a ladder. Seth Rollins hits the ring and throws Ambrose into the ring steps then delivers the "Curb Stomp".

***Recap Note***
Bad News Barrett was reportedly injured during this match so his status in the MITB ladder match Sunday is unknown as of yet.

- Paige vs Cameron. Match closes with Paige getting the win with the "Paige Turner". After the match Naomi gets in Paige's face then Cameron attacks Paige. Naomi tries to seperate the two. Paige shoves both girls and stares them down.

- Bray Wyatt vs Sheamus. The whole Wyatt Family is at ringside which brings The Usos out in Sheamus' corner. Sheamus wins by DQ as The Wyatt Family start a six man brawl which Sheamus and The Usos win.

- Dolph Ziggler and Rob Van Dam vs Alberto Del Rio and Cesaro. Match closes with RVD going for the "5 Star Frog Splash" but catches Alberto's knees on the landing. Alberto locks in the cross arm breaker and RVD taps. After the match Paul Heyman raises Cesaro's hand and Alberto demands his be raised too. Cesaro kicks Alberto in the gut and lays him out with "The Neutralizer".

- Roman Reigns vs Kane. Reigns wins by DQ when Randy Orton runs in and attacks Reigns. Orton gets a "Superman Punch" from Reigns then Reigns gets choke slammed by Kane. Kane sets a ladder up and let's Orton climb it to the titles that are hanging from the rafters. After celebrating with the titles Orton climbs down and stops Kane from choke slamming Reigns and instead goes for the punt kick to the head. Reigns jumps up and spears both Orton and Kane as Smackdown comes to an end.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 6.2.14: WWE Payback

Welcome to a very special "Special Event" recap on this Monday afternoon edition of Wrestling Lockup with Brandon. Last night, WWE held their "special event" entitled Payback, live at The Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. Being near Chicago, I'm sure you can imagine how many "CM Punk" chants were heard throughout the night. He's retired and he's not coming back fans, time to face that realization.

Any who, let's get the recap started shall we?

"Hair vs Mask Match": Hornswoggle vs El Torito. El Torito picked up the pin in the preshow match. El Torito hits a moonsault on Hornswoggle to score the pin. Hornswoggle gets held down in a barber chair by Los Matadores and gets his head shaved by El Torito.

"United States Championship Match": Sheamus (c) vs Cesaro. Before the match Paul Heyman angers the rowdy Chicago crowd by telling them CM Punk isn't here and that he is across town at the Blackhawks hockey game instead. The match ends with Cesaro swinging Sheamus but gets small packaged unexpectedly by Sheamus afterwards for the pin. Sheamus retains the U.S.Title.

The Rhodes Brothers vs Curtis Axel and Ryback. Cody goes for the "Disaster Kick" on Ryback, Ryback catches Cody and hits "Shell Shock" for the pin. After the match Cody tells Goldust that maybe it's best that Goldust finds a new tag team partner.

Rusev vs Big E. We have a flag off before the match starts, as Big E and Rusev wave their flags back and forth. Big E hit an awesome spear right through the second ropes on Rusev sending both men crashing to the floor, mid match. Rusev takes Big E's head off with a side kick and locks in "The Accolade" for the submission victory.

Bo Dallas vs Kofi Kingston. Match never happens as Kane arrives and choke slammed then tombstone piledrives Kofi. Bo Dallas tells Kofi that he'll be back on his feet in no time as long as he "Bo-Lieves".

"WWE Intercontinental Title Match" Bad News Barrett (c) vs. Rob Van Dam. RVD misses the "Five Star Frog Splash". Barrett misses the "Bullhammer" and instead connects with the ring post. Barrett fights off the pain and connects with the second attempt at the "Bullhammer", scoring the pin and retaining the I-C Title.

Stephanie McMahon arrives to make Daniel Bryan make his announcement on if he's forfeiting the title or Brie Bella being fired. Another "CM Punk" chant erupts. Steph tells Bryan that even the fans want to see him quit like CM Punk did. Daniel is about to hand over the titles and save Brie's job when Brie stops Daniel from forfeiting, quits the company then slaps Stephanie right in the face. Steph runs to the back, humiliated. Daniel Bryan apparently still remains as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

"Last Man Standing Match": Bray Wyatt vs John Cena. This match was all out chaos. Before the match The Wyatts surround Cena until The Usos hit the ring to back up Cena. Bray and Cena finally go one on one as the bell sounded. Chairs, the ring steps and tables get involved. The Usos and Wyatts brawl. Cena gets suplexed through a table, Bray gets hit in the face with the ring steps. We see The Usos go airbourne over the ropes on the Wyatts, taking them out. Luke Harper's massive frame even suicide dives through the ropes taking out The Usos. The Wyatts and The Usos put each other through tables. Cena hits "AA" on Bray the floor. Bray puts Cena through the barricade with a spear. Cena picks up the win by hitting "AA" on Bray right through a large tv production case, throws another production case on top and stands on it causing Bray to not be able to get up before a ten count.

"WWE Divas Title Match": Paige (c) vs. Alicia Fox. Paige defeats Fox by submission to retain the title. Fox flips out and runs to the back as the fans chanted "You tapped out".

"No Holds Barred Elimination Match": The Shield vs. Evolution. "Bluetista" began trending on Twitter. Look up Batista's ring gear from tonight and you'll see why. Both factions brawl throughout the arena to kick off the match. This match was an all out war throughout the whole thing. Evolution triple powerbombed Reigns through the announcers table. Evolution dismantled Rollins and Ambrose on the floor. We seen Orton DDT Rollins on the floor and Ambrose get back body dropped on a steel chair. Evolution surround Reigns in the ring and take turns caning him on his bare back. Reigns then takes repeated chair shots to the back. The action returns to the entrance ramp where Ambrose jumps all three Evolution members till getting beat down. Rollins leaps off the top of the stage prop below the titantron taking out all of Evolution. We're eventually back in the ring where a seriously wounded Shield pull a trifecta of pins to win the match. Reigns speared Batista allowing Rollins to score the pin, Ambrose reverse DDT's Orton onto a steel chair for the pin and after Triple H nails Ambrose with his sledgehammer, Triple H gets nailed with a Rollins top rope knee then gets speared by Reigns for the final pin to win the match. The Shield barely able to stand, celebrate as Payback comes to an end.

And that wraps up the pay per view. My opinion Bray Wyatt vs John Cena and The Shield vs Evolution were matches of the night. I'll be back Tuesday with the RAW recap. Till then tap or snap.

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, 5.20.14: WWE Raw

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon comes to you today with the WWE RAW recap from last night. RAW took place last night in jolly old England. Last week, Daniel Bryan, announced to the WWE Universe that he would need neck surgery, and wasn't sure what the outcome would be. Stephanie McMahon, announced that tonight on RAW, the status of Bryan's WWE World Heavyweight Championship would be revealed. The Shield dominated Evolution and the RAW heel locker room last week. How will Evolution retaliate tonight? John Cena and Bray Wyatt continued their feud that will lead towards a "Last Man Standing Match" at WWE Payback. Over in the Divas Division, Alicia Fox, showed a dark side last week on current WWE Divas Champion, Paige. Here is last night's recap.

Highlights of RAW:
- RAW opened up with another promo and sing along by Bray Wyatt on John Cena. Cena hit the ring and cleaned house on The Wyatt's, chasing them from the ring. Cena will face Luke Harper later in the main event.
- Stephanie McMahon orders WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan, to be at RAW next week. Stephanie will do a final evaluation on Bryan on whether his neck surgery will cause him to not be able to compete in title defenses. If Bryan can't compete then he will be stripped of the championship.
- The Shield vs Evolution feud heated up as Rollins faced Batista. Triple H was special guest ring announcer and Orton special guest time keeper. Reigns and Ambrose evened the odds for Rollins as they did special guest commentary. Rollins wins by DQ as both factions brawled.
- A "Beat The Clock" Tournament was held with the superstar who wins their match with the best time receiving a WWE I-C Title Match at WWE Payback against WWE I-C Champion, Bad News Barrett. RVD, Alberto Del Rio, Dolph Ziggler, Mark Henry, Ryback and Big E were the six competitors. RVD would go on to finish with the best time. Bad News Barrett arrived and gave some "Bad News" to RVD as he laid out "Mr. Monday Night".
- More Adam Rose shenanigans with Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter.
- Summer Rae returned and interfered in Fandango's match. Rae and Layla had a CATFIGHT!!
- Alicia Fox dominated WWE Divas Champion, Paige.
- Rusev crushed Heath Slater and remains undefeated.
- Main Event saw John Cena defeat Luke Harper by DQ. The Wyatt Family attacked Cena in and out of the ring. Bray delivered "Sister Abigail" to Cena on the stage. Bray sang to the fans as Harper made a ten count on John Cena hyping the Last Man Standing Match to close the show out.

- R-Truth and Cameron vs Fandango and Layla went to a no-contest.

- "Beat The Clock": Dolph Ziggler def. Mark Henry by pin. Ziggler failed to beat 4:88 making RVD the winner.

WWE News and Rumors:
- WWE is already talking about a small price raise on the WWE Network monthly price. I personally would still keep the Network even if it happened. I have enjoyed every bit of my WWE Network.
- I mentioned on Saturday that The Rock, Rikishi and Mickie James are possible candidates for the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2015. You can now add Kevin Nash's name to that list of possible choices.
- WWE took a hit in the stocks this weekend. It was reported that Vince McMahon lost $350 million dollars on Friday, knocking Vinnie Mac out of the billionaire bracket.
