WWE Backlash Preview #Backlash #WWE

By Brandon Albright, @B_Rock1978

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you the WWE Backlash Preview. This year's Backlash will be the 12th event in the Backlash chronology and the first since 2009. The place to be is the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond, Virginia, as they host this year's event. As always if you can't see the event live or on WWE Network, just check out Triple Threat CLE on Monday afternoon and I'll have the recap for you.

- "WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match": Dean Ambrose (c) vs. AJ Styles: Last month at Summer Slam, Ambrose came out victorious and retained the title against Dolph Ziggler. AJ Styles also came out victorious in his match against John Cena. Styles would then go on to defeat Dolph Ziggler in a #1 Contenders Match on Smackdown Live, earning him a shot against Dean Ambrose. Can the resident lunatic, Dean Ambrose, retain his championship and continue to reign over Smackdown Live? Will AJ Styles who considers himself as the face that runs the place and who already has many world title reigns under his belt, finally add a WWE World Title to that list?

- "WWE Intercontinental Championship Match": The Miz (c) vs. Dolph Ziggler: Last month, The Miz continued his reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion after defeating Apollo Crews at Summer Slam. Dolph Ziggler meanwhile came up short at Summer Slam against Dean Ambrose. The Miz entered being champion for over 150 days, but was called out by SmackDown Live GM Daniel Bryan as being a coward. The Miz went on a tirade of why he's the best, but was challenged by Dolph Ziggler. The Miz declined the challenge, making Ziggler call out Miz as in fact being a coward. The match ended up being signed for Backlash with the WWE Intercontinental Championship on the line. Will The Miz prove that he's not a coward and in fact one of the best? Will Dolph Ziggler defeat Miz and prove that Daniel Bryan was right all along?

- "WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Championship Semi Finals Tournament Match": The Usos vs. The Hype Bros.: Originally American Alpha advanced to the Finals and were set to face Heath Slater and Rhyno, however, a jealous Jimmy and Jey Uso attacked Chad Gable and injured Gable's knee, taking American Alpha out of the Finals. Shane McMahon announced that the two losing teams in the Semi Finals would face each other in another Semi Final match to determine a winner. Will the fired up, adrenaline filled Hype Bros advance? Will The Usos with their new angry, demanding respect attitude derail Mojo and Ryder?

- "WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Championship Match": Heath Slater and Rhyno vs. Semi Finals Winners: Heath Slater and Rhyno defeated The Hype Bros in their Semi Finals match to advance. Heath Slater is one win away from not only becoming a WWE Smackdown Live World Tag Team Champion, but also one win away from being guaranteed a Smackdown Live contract from Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan.

- "WWE Smackdown Live Women's Championship, Six Pack Challenge Match": Nikki Bella vs. Nattie Neidhart vs. Becky Lynch vs. Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Carmella: Last month at Summer Slam the current six ladies involved in this Six Pack Challenge met in a Six Woman Tag Team Match with Nikki, Nattie and Alexa coming out victorious. Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan announced the creation of the WWE Smackdown Live Women's Championship and announced these six ladies as the competitors for the title. Which lady will walk out as the first ever WWE Smackdown Live Women's Champion?

- Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt: Last month at Summer Slam, Randy Orton came out with a loss to The Beast Brock Lesnar as Lesnar grounded and pounded Orton bloody. Orton returned from his beating a week later and was immediately confronted by Bray Wyatt. Bray challenged Orton to a match at Backlash and stated that Orton is now a shell of what he used to be after taking that beating from Lesnar. Orton accepted the challenge and promised to prove that he is still the deadly viper that he's always been. Will Orton defeat the sadistic Bray Wyatt? Will Bray Wyatt prove that Orton is in fact broken after taking that beating from Brock Lesnar?
