Wrestling Lockup With Brandon 9/28/17: NXT Recap

NXT returned this week for more NXT action at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. This week the Undisputed Era's leader Adam Cole made his NXT wrestling debut as he battled SAnitY's leader Eric Young.

** NXT TV Card **

- Lars Sullivan battled Oney Lorcan.
- Heavy Machinery battled Demetrius Bronson and Patrick Scott.
- Liv Morgan battled Vanessa Borne.
- Kassius Ohno battled Fabian Aichner. 
- Adam Cole battled Eric Young.

** NXT **

- NXT GM William Regal announces a Fatal Four Way Match at NXT Takeover: Houston for the vacant NXT Women's Championship. Mae Young Classic Tournament winner Kairi Sane will be one of the four, the other three will be decided soon.

- SAnitY Promo: Eric Young says that time and space doesn't matter, but chaos does. EY says that the only thing sure in life is change and he will take Adam Cole to the edge of SAnitY tonight.

- Lars Sullivan vs. Oney Lorcan: The match closes out with Lorcan attempting a dive, but gets caught by Lars and dropped face first on the apron. Lorcan unloads palm slaps that look to just irritate Lars. Lorcan lands an uppercut and dazes Lars. Lars comes back with a huge clothesline and hits the power slam on Lorcan to score the pinfall.
Winner: Lars Sullivan, by pinfall.

- After the match, Lars attacks Lorcan some more, but Danny Burch hits the ring and makes the save for Lorcan.

- Backstage, Ruby Riot is interviewed and asked about Nikki Cross. Ruby says she hasn't seen Nikki in two weeks, last time was when she helped Ruby by teaming with her. 

- Heavy Machinery vs. Demetrius Bronson and Patrick Scott: The match closes out with Heavy Machinery nailing diving head butts. Bronson is able to get a few shots delivered before getting run over. Dozovic lands an elbow and tags in Knight. Heavy Machinery sandwich Bronson and Scott together and score  the pinfall with their finisher.
Winner: Heavy Machinery, by pinfall.

- Outside the Performance Center, William Regal finds Johnny Gargano and informs him that he's getting a rematch against Andrade "Cien" Almas in two weeks that Gargano requested.

- Backstage, Roderick Strong is interviewed. Strong says he's preparing for his title match the same way he has for every match. Strong is fighting for his family, he's been close before, but this time will be different and he knows he's indestructible and won't stop. Strong says Drew McIntyre doesn't have the tenacity to beat him.

- Liv Morgan vs. Vanessa Borne: The match closes out with Vanessa landing a drop toe hold on Liv into the turnbuckle. Vanessa unloads offense on Liv, but Liv comes back with her own offense and hits a corner double foot stomp on Vanessa. Liv hits her version of a Code Breaker and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Liv Morgan, by pinfall.

- Aleister Black is shown working out and is asked about The Velveteen Dream Patrick Clark. Black says that in an age of individuality, there's always one who thinks they're more unique, as well as many parables describing the same situation.

- Kassius Ohno vs. Fabian Aichner: The match closes out with Aichner hitting a tilt a whirl back breaker and then a springboard dive. Aichner lands a stalling suplex and then a running power slam. Aichner misses a springboard moonsault and Ohno lands a elbow and a kick. Ohno measures and drills Aichner with the spinning kick for the pinfall.
Winner: Kassius Ohno, by pinfall.

- Drew McIntyre is interviewed and guarantees he'll hold onto his NXT World Title when he battles Roderick Strong.

- Adam Cole vs. Eric Young: The match closes out with Cole applying a rear chin lock, but EY escapes. Cole comes back with a sleeper hold submission as EY charges. EY counters a suplex, hits a clothesline, a series of forearms and hits a leaping neck breaker. SAnitY and Undisputed Era start brawling on the floor. EY leaps off the ropes and takes out all four men. EY is back in the ring and gets nailed by the Shining Wizard from Cole for the pinfall.
Winner: Adam Cole, by pinfall.

Wrestling Lockup With Brandon 9/13/17: NXT Recap

NXT returned this week for more NXT action at Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. This week the British arrived as the United Kingdom division was in action.

** NXT TV Card **

- Peyton Royce and Billie Kay battled Ruby Riot and a partner of her choice.
- Johnny Gargano battled Riddick Moss.
- The Street Profits battled The Ealy Brothers.
- WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne defended his title against Wolfgang.

** NXT **

- Peyton Royce and Billie Kay vs. Ruby Riot and ???: Ruby ends up coming to the ring alone with no partner. The match closes out with Peyton and Billie double teaming Ruby. Nikki Cross suddenly arrives at ringside and force tags herself into the match. Nikki unloads on Peyton and Billie and then hits the swinging fisherman's neck breaker on Billie. Nikki force tags Ruby back in and walks off. Ruby hits the top rope senton and scores the pinfall
Winners: Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross, by pinfall.

- Johnny Gargano vs. Riddick Moss: The match closes out with Moss hitting the floor and Sabatelli tries to distract Gargano. Moss unloads on Gargano, but Gargano fires back. Gargano applies the Gargano Escape submission, but Moss reaches the ropes. Gargano looks confused for a minute before getting his head back into the match. Gargano drills a kick on Moss then hits the jumping spear to score the pinfall.
Winner: Johnny Gargano, by pinfall.

- The Street Profits vs. The Ealy Brothers: The match closes out with The Ealy Brothers switching places behind the referees back. Gabriel Ealy drills Ford with a clothesline. The Ealy's double team Ford until Ford finally tags Dawkins. Dawkins hits a drop kick on Uriel Ealy and then hits a spinning clothesline on both Ealy's. The Street Profits hit their finisher and score the pinfall.
Winners: The Street Profits, by pinfall.

- "WWE United Kingdom Championship Match": Pete Dunne (c) vs. Wolfgang: The match closes out with Wolfgang going for the Howling. Dunne counters with the cross arm breaker submission. Dunne turns it into a triangle lock submission, but Wolfgang powers out. Wolfgang hits a pop up power slam and gets a near fall. Dunne dodges a Wolfgang charge and hits the German suplex. Wolfgang jumps back up and runs Dunne over with a lariat. Dunne counters another pop up power slam and connects with an elbow on Wolfgang. Dunne hits the Bitter End, scores the pinfall and retains the title.
Winner: Pete Dunne, by pinfall, to retain the WWE United Kingdom Championship.


- After the match, The Undisputed Era hits the ring! Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly surround and attack Dunne. Wolfgang makes the save and helps Dunne, but Dunne walks out as Wolfgang takes the three on one beat down. Cole drills Wolfgang with the Shining Wizard, before the Undisputed Era finally leave. Tyler Bate and Trent Seven hit the ring to check on Wolfgang to close the show.

NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 3 Recap

NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 3 was live at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. NXT kicked off WWE's huge weekend of wrestling, live in the Big Apple.

** Takeover: Brooklyn 3 Card **

- Aleister Black battled Hideo Itami.
- Johnny Gargano battled Andrade "Cien" Almas.
- NXT Women's Champion Asuka defended her title against Ember Moon.
- NXT World Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain defended their titles against SAnitY.
- NXT World Champion Bobby Roode defended his title against Drew McIntyre.

** Takeover: Brooklyn 3 Recap **

- NXT Takeover: Brooklyn 3 kicks off with the band Code Orange performimg "Bleeding In The Blur" which was used as the official theme song of the pay per view.

- Johnny Gargano vs. Andrade "Cien" Almas: The match closes out with Almas countering a slingshot spear and hits Gargano with a near fall inverted DDT. Almas counters a sunset flip power bomb and drills Gargano with a spinning elbow. Almas hip tosses Gargano into the turnbuckle. Gargano spins Almas around and traps Almas in the Gargano Escape submission. Almas escapes by buckle bombing Gargano for a near fall. Almas hits a knee to the face of Gargano and takes shots on Gargano's arm.
Gargano lands a back kick, a super kick and then tosses Almas face first into the turn buckle with the Lawn Dart. Gargano measures up Almas, but Zelina Vega distracts Gargano by throwing a #DIY shirt at him. Almas hits a running drop, sending Gargano flying into the corner. Almas plants Gargano with the Hammerlock DDT and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Andrade "Cien" Almas, by pinfall.

- RAW GM Kurt Angle and Smackdown Live GM Daniel Bryan are shown in the crowd sitting with Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, No Way Jose and Roderick Strong.

- Backstage, Drew McIntyre is getting warmed up for his NXT World Championship Match tonight.

- "NXT World Tag Team Championship Match": The Authors of Pain (c) vs. SAnitY: The match closes out with Young getting caught by Rezar, lifted by the throat and driven into the mat. EY dodges an elbow, tags Wolfe and Wolfe unloads on the AOP. Wolfe suplexes Akam and then german suplexes Rezar. Wolfe with a top rope clothesline on Rezar and gets a near fall. AOP hit a double team neckbreaker/power bomb combo on Wolfe for a near fall. Wolfe with a frankensteiner and Akam gets sent outside. EY tags in and hits a neckbreaker on Rezar. EY gets crotched on the ropes and Rezar and Akam attempt a superplex. Nikki Cross holds onto EY making Akam fall to the mat. EY and Wolfe both hit suicide dives on AOP as they both rolled outside. Nikki Cross and Paul Ellering go face to face inside the ring, but get separated by the referee. Nikki leaps outside, but gets caught by Akam. Killian Dain charges and spears Akam and Nikki right through a table. Wolfe and EY hit a double team elbow finisher on Rezar and score the pinfall to win the titles.
Winners: SAnitY, by pinfall, to win the NXT World Tag Team Championship.


- After the match, EY and Wolfe celebrate their title win when suddenly Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly, aka ReDragon, hit the ring and attack both men. Fish and O'Reilly get some shots in on AOP as well before grabbing the NXT Tag Team titles and celebrate with them.

- We see Neville, Shinsuke Nakamura and Kalisto sitting in the crowd.

- Backstage, NXT World Champion Bobby Roode is shown warming up for his title match tonight.

- Jim Ross arrives to do commentary for the next match.

- Cold Orange returns to perform Aleister Black's theme entrance live.

- Aleister Black vs. Hideo Itami: Black catches a shot to the face in the match, bloodying Black's nose. The match closes out with Black unloading on Itami, but Itami hits a clothesline for a near fall. Itami hits a fisherman's suplex for another near fall. Black lays out Itami with a kick and goes to the top rope. Itami cuts off Black and goes for a superplex, but Black sends Itami to the mat with an elbow. Itami sends Black into the turnbuckle and hits a Falcon Arrow off the top rope for a near fall. Black and Itami trade shots in the middle of the ring. Black drills Itami with a knee, but Itami comes back with another Falcon Arrow for a near fall.
Itami hits a leaping hesitation drop kick on Black in the corner. Itami measures up Black and goes for the Go To Sleep. Black counters out and hits the Black Mass kick out of nowhere on Itami. Black covers and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Aleister Black, by pinfall.

- We see Sasha Banks, Bayley and Becky Lynch sitting in the crowd.

- Backstage, NXT Women's Champion Asuka is shown warming up. Ember Moon is then shown walking to the ring for her title shot.

- "NXT Women's Championship Match": Asuka (c) vs. Ember Moon: The match closes out with Asuka and Ember trading shots until Asuka hits the running hip attack. Ember blocks a second hip attack attempt and plants a knee on Asuka. Ember hits a tornado suplex for a near fall. Asuka takes over on offense, plants a kick on Ember then unloads more lethal kicks. Ember catches a kick and plants Asuka for a near fall. Ember goes to the top rope, but gets cut off by Asuka. Ember hits a double foot stomp on Asuka for a near fall. Ember goes back on the ropes and hits the Eclipse Stunner on Asuka, but Asuka kicks out at two and a half. Ember can't believe it as she goes back to the top rope. Asuka grabs the referee and uses him as a shield, but Ember still leaps and cross body blocks Asuka.
Asuka rolls through, grabs Ember's tights and tries to steal a pinfall, but the referee catches Asuka cheating. Asuka argues with the referee and catches a huge kick to the face from Ember. Ember covers and gets another two and a half on Asuka. Ember again is stunned that she can't put Asuka away. Asuka catches Ember in an arm bar submission, but Ember fights out of it. Asuka releases the arm bar submission and catches Ember in the Asuka Lock submission. Ember tries to escape, but Asuka applies the pressure and locks up Ember tight. Ember can't fight it any longer and taps out. Asuka retains her title and has now been champion for 504+ days.
Winner: Asuka, by submission, to retain the NXT Women's Championship.

- After the match, Ember Moon gets a standing ovation from the NXT fans.

- Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe are shown sitting in the crowd.

- The NYPD Pipe and Drums Band are out to play the opening intro to Drew McIntyre's theme music.

- "NXT World Championship Match": Bobby Roode (c) vs. Drew McIntyre: The match closes out with McIntyre getting a near fall backslide and then a near fall Future Shock DDT. McIntyre attempts a fireman's carry on Roode off the top rope, but Roode counters with a near fall Liger Bomb. McIntyre unloads kicks and chops on Roode and Roode returns with slaps. McIntyre drills Roode with The Claymore and gets a near fall. Roode rolls outside, but gets taken out as McIntyre flies outside with a plancha. McIntyre tosses Roode back in the ring and sets him up for The Claymore.
Roode catches McIntyre charging and hits a spine buster. McIntyre counters the Glorious DDT and gets a near fall rollup on Roode. McIntyre goes for a tilt a whirl, but Roode counters it and drills McIntyre with a Glorious DDT for a near fall. Roode hits a second Glorious DDT on McIntyre, keeps McIntyre hooked and goes for a third attempt. McIntyre counters the third attempt and drills Roode with The Claymore. McIntyre covers Roode and scores the pinfall to win the title.
Winner: Drew McIntyre, by pinfall, to win the NXT World Championship.


- After the match, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly suddenly hit the ring and distract McIntyre from the apron. McIntyre makes a move toward them but suddenly gets attacked from behind by.........ADAM COLE BAYYY BAYYY!! Cole, Fish and O'Reilly all triple team McIntyre and beat him down. Cole drills McIntyre with a super kick and celebrates with the NXT World Championship to end the show.

Ring Of Honor 14th Anniversary #ROH14th

Wrestling Lockup with Brandon, brought to you by Triple Threat CLE, brings you the Ring Of Honor 14th Anniversary pay per view. ROH 14th Anniversary took place at the Sam's Town Live in sin city, Las Vegas, Nevada. ROH was in town for two solid nights in Las Vegas with a pay per view and a night of TV tapings. ROH promised to deliver, as all major ROH titles were on the line and we also seen talent from New Japan Pro Wrestling compete as well.

*** ROH 14th Anniversary ***

- "ROH Television Championship, Triple Threat Match": Tomohiro Ishii (c) vs. Roderick Strong vs. Bobby Fish: The match closes out with Ishii landing a super plex on Fish for a near fall. All three men trade blows until Ishii destroys Fish with a clothesline and Strong follows with a double knee gutbuster and a kick on Ishii and gets a near fall. Fish grabs Strong and applies the Fish Hook submission. Strong fights it and eventually escapes. Ishii is back in and crushes Strong with a clothesline for a near fall. Ishii finally hits a vertical brain buster and scores the pinfall.
Winner: Tomohiro Ishii, by pinfall, to retain the ROH Television Championship.

- Adam Page vs. BJ Whitmer: The match closes out with, Whitmer hitting Page with a snap suplex for a near fall. Page is back up and hits a clothesline, but Whitmer comes back and nails a power slam for a near fall. Whitmer sets Page up for an Exploder, but Page counters with an arm drag. Whitmer looks like he's going for an apron piledriver on Page, but Page boots Whitmer off the apron. Page hits a shooting star shoulerblock on Whitmer. Whitmer grabs a steel chair and goes to hit Page with it. The referee grabs the chair and warns Whitmer. As the referee turns his back to get rid of the chair Whitmer low blows Page and scores an inside cradle pinfall. After the match, Page grabs Whitmer and goes for the Rite of Passage. Whitmer fights out and escapes from the ring. Page is furious over Whitmer cheating to win and starts taking out ROH security guards.
Winner: BJ Whitmer, by pinfall.

- Hirooki Goto vs. Dalton Castle (w/The Boys): The match closes out with, Castle landing a knee and a suplex on Goto for a near fall. Castle goes for Bangarang, but Goto counters and unloads a series of corner kicks, followed by a near fall suplex on Castle. Castle goes outside, hits a hurricanrana and follows with a missile drop kick back inside the ring on Goto for a near fall. Castle hits a deadlift german suplex into a bridge for a near fall. Goto lands a reverse Ushigoroshi and finishes off Castle with Shouten Kai for the pinfall.
Winner: Hirooki Goto, by pinfall.

- Alex Shelley vs. Christopher Daniels (w/Kazarian): The match closes out with, Shelley hitting a suicide dive taking out Daniels and Kaz. Daniels lands a low blow, followed by a boot and an STO for a near fall on Shelley. Daniels hits a slingshot split legged moonsault and  applies a crossface submission, but Shelley is able to get to the ropes. Daniels distracts the referee as Kaz hits a leg drop on Shelley. Shelley comes back with an enziguri, followed by a body press for a near fall on Daniels. Kaz tries to get involved again, but this time Chris Sabin hits the ring and takes out Kaz. During the distraction Shelley is able to score the pinfall on Daniels. After the match, Shelley and Sabin reform the Motor City Machine Guns and take out Daniels and Kaz.
Winner: Alex Shelley, by pinfall.

- The Briscoes vs. Michael Elgin and Hiroshi Tanahashi: The match closes out with, The Briscoes double teaming Elgin, until Elgin grabs Mark and tosses him over the barricade. Elgin forearms Jay and tags Tanahashi. Tanahashi gets double teamed, but fights back, unfortunately to little effect as The Briscoes drop him with a uranage. The Briscoes hit a neckbreaker and an elbow drop on Tanahashi for a near fall. Elgin is in and hits a Death Valley Driver on Mark right on top of Jay. Elgin grabs Tanahashi and reverse power bombs his partner on top of Mark for a near fall. Jay gets taken out with a Sling Blade and Mark gets a High Fly Flow, giving Elgin and Tanahashi the pinfall.
Winners: Hiroshi Tanahashi and Michael Elgin, by pinfall.

- Moose (w/Stokely Hathaway) vs. Okada (w/Gedo): The match closes out with, Okada hitting a flapjack on Moose and a series of forearms. Moose and Okada trade strikes back and forth until Okada hits Moose with a reverse neck breaker for a near fall. Okada continues with a flying elbow drop and a Rainmaker on Moose for another near fall. Moose counters a Okada body press, goes for the Rainmaker, but gets drop kicked twice by Okada. Okada takes advantage and hits his Rainmaker to score the pinfall. After the match, both men show each other respect.
Winner: Okada, by pinfall.

- "NJPW NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Championship Match": The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega (c) vs. ACH, Matt Sydal & KUSHIDA: The match closes out with, The Young Bucks hitting a super kick on Sydal, then unloading punches on KUSHIDA. KUSHIDA fights back, but eats a trifecta of super kicks by The Bullet Club. The Bullet Club turn their attention toward ACH and Sydal and unload another trifecta of super kicks on them. The Young Bucks hit a swanton and Omega hits a Dragon suplex for a near fall. The Bullet Club with another trifecta of super kicks on Sydal for a near fall, as ACH stops the pinfall. Sydal breaks up the Tiger Special finisher and hits the Spanish Fly on Matt for a near fall. ACH and KUSHIDA hit a 450 moonsault combo, but the pinfall gets broken up. Omega plants KUSHIDA on the floor with a tombstone piledriver. ACH catches a punt to the head and Sydal eats another super kick. The Bullet Club hit The Bullet Club Special and score the pinfall.
Winners: The Bullet Club, by pinfall, to retain the NJPW NEVER Openweight Six Man Tag Team Championship.

- "ROH World Tag Team Championship,
No DQ Match": War Machine (c) vs. All Night Xpress: The match closes out with, ANX putting a trash can over Hanson's head and crushing it, dropping Hanson for a near fall. Rowe lands knees right to the face of Kenny King. War Machine set up King and hit Fallout, but King kicks out. They set Titus up for Fallout, outside on the floor, but King nails Hanson with a steel chair and then sends Hanson through a table. ANX hit the One Night Stand on Rowe, but Rowe kicks out on a near fall. Titus sets up a ladder bridged from the ring apron to the barricade on the outside. War Machine puts King right through the bridged ladder and King looks like he's unconscious. Back in the ring, War Machine hit Fallout on Titus, cover and score the pinfall.
Winners: War Machine, by pinfall, to retain the ROH World Tag Team Championship.

- "ROH World Heavyweight Championship, Triple Threat Match": Jay Lethal (c) (w/Truth Martini and Taeler Hendrix) vs. Adam Cole vs. Kyle O'Reilly: The match closes out with, Kyle hitting a drop kick on Cole, sending Cole off a steel chair. Kyle gets hit with the Trifecta and Truth Martini does a Trutharoonie in the ring. Lethal hits the Lethal Combination on Cole for a near fall. Cole is back up and hits a knee breaker on Lethal for a near fall. Kyle is back in and gets a near fall brain buster on Lethal. Kyle applies a Triangle submission on Lethal, but Cole tries to break it up. Kyle grabs Cole and locks him in an Ankle Lock submission, while having Lethal in the Triangle submission. Lethal looks like he's about to pass out, as Cole stops Lethal's arm from dropping to the mat a third time, as the referee checks on Lethal. Kyle locks in an RNC submission on Cole. Lethal finally comes to and hits a double Lethal Injection on Cole and Kyle to score the pinfall.
Winner: Jay Lethal, by pinfall, to retain the ROH World Heavyweight Championship.
